1. I'm not gigging at the moment for health reasons and although I expect that to change for the better in the months to come I thought it might be time to have a good look through my 11 strong stable of basses and make some hard decisions.

I've decided to keep the essentials: My four ACGs are sacrosanct; and any future bands (if I decide I can be arsed again) insisting on "traditional" basses will be happy with my KSD Jazz or my Lakland Precision, so I'm keeping those two.

That leaves the following for sale....
    Rickenbacker 4003 Blue Boy
    Roscoe SKB3005
    Schecter Stiletto Studio 4 Fretless
    Status Electro Mk1
    Warwick Fortress One

In this thread, we'll deal with the Rickenbacker. A bass I bought from Peter Cook's, new, in 2002. This bass has never been offered for sale before.

The price refelects the rarity and the price is firm.

    No trades.

A note to Tyre Kickers: Gosh, wouldn't it be lovely if it had three/five/six/eight/twelve strings because I just know you'd have bitten my arm off and I already know how many of you would love it but are just too skint at the moment. Such a shame. Oh and it's neither overpriced nor underpriced. It's just priced. The quoted price is what I think it's worth. Your opinion on the subject doesn't matter.

A note to genuinely interested parties: The colour is known as Blue Boy and this was a special edition which was not for sale in the USA. This was a very limited edition for sale in Japan (mainly) and a few made it over to Europe. I've only ever seen one other Ric in this colour, and I have never seen one in this colour for sale. Ever. Not suggesting they haven't been up for sale, I'm saying I haven't seen one. Case candy isn't available, I'm afraid, although the original supplied polishing cloth is.

The bass has been gigged (as it should be) but is ding, dent and chip free.

Note: There are blemishes in this finish. Blue Boy is an eggshell finish, semi matt, and reacts with sweat enyzmes to give a few areas of high gloss. Only really noticable close up and beyond my photographic ability to capture it.

In this thread, we'll deal with the Roscoe. An immaculate bass which I've owned from new. This bass has never been offered for sale before.

    Price is firm.

Only trades I would consider are ACGs plus cash.

A note to genuinely interested parties: The first custom bass I ever got my hands on, I bought this new from Machine Head in 2004 or 2005. It has the best figured maple top I've ever seen. The finish is very dark emerald green. Scale is 35" and the fretboard's figuring is a natural seam between the heartwood and sapwood. The Roscoe hard/soft case is in very good condition except the zip has come away for about two or three inches and needs stitching back.

In this thread, we'll deal with the Warwick. Trust me, I'll be happy if this doesn't sell.

    Price is firm.

    No trades.

A note to genuinely interested parties: It's a really nice bass. It's been my go-to for the best part of a decade and I've played close to 800 gigs with this chap. If it was a Fender it would have "Mojo" but because it's a Warwick it's just a bit beat up - although by no means knackered and it'll never let you down. The neck is delightfully slim, it has the brass Ajustanut 1 (better than the plastic Mk2) and everything works as it should.

  4.
Watch out Scoop...I have just checked out one of the little local bylaws (Moffat verses Lancashire 1842)
If you use his stands he gets to keep the bass as a rental fee...
Dagnabbit.

Dave I'll send you a revised list with the sale items listed. That'll be when I can be arsed, obviously.

  5.
I have a spare 5 instrument stand, want me to bring it?
Yes please mate, that solves all probs!

    Cheers.

  6. I'm booked in for the weekend with my zimmer, bathchair and nubile shortskirted personal nurse*.

Could everybody empty their piggybanks please as I'm having a clear out and will have about £5k of basses for sale :)

I'll also be bringing all four of my ACGs (NOT for sale).

I would be very grateful for the loan of up to five stands (I'll have 9 basses with me) - if anyone has any spare stands could you throw them in my direction please?

I'm booked in for heart surgery on Monday, 19th, so I'm not sure I'll be getting completely trousered on the Saturday night but I'm not the sort of person to run screaming when faced with a beer either. We'll see how it goes.

  7.
They get better and better.
Needed to comment on that - I have four ACGs now, numbers 0017, 0030 and 0053 together with an un-numbered prototype of the Graft Harlot 5 string. Each bass has, without doubt, improved ever so slightly on the earlier one. It might only be the smallest little detail, or it might be substantial, like a change in the finishing from glossy to satin, but Alan appears to be constantly striving to improve his skill set and the quality of his output. I have a few custom builds apart from my ACGs and I keep coming back to ACG time and again.

They really do get better and better.

  8.
Hi fro Southampton in the US of K. I'm not a bass player - please stop hitting me..Im interested in getting a bass for computer recording - asI'm sure you're aware the landscape has shifted slightly and with computer recording it causes people who have an idea to want to chime in on collab sites and perhaps become the dreaded m-word...I'm a guitarist who likes the idea of adding an idea or two on bass. I've always admired the way bass glues the other instrumets together..and my favourite players are Jamerson, Larry Graham pre GCS, Billy Bass Nelson and Chris Squire if only for the start of Heart of the sunrise and fish out of water...and yes i do think the second incarnation of the experience was better - the billy cox driven one.
I cannot be molested by angry bassists as i have an entourage which includes bodyguards...anyway I'm looking with interest at a bass that is two steps up from a chipboard wonder - i had my mind on a yamaha BB414, hopefully for £120...
Welcome and don't worry most bassists are house trained enough not to attack withour provocation - just don't make eye contact...

The BB414s are pretty decent basses - but have a look at some Peavey, Cort and Tanglewood stuff too - partularly second hand Peavey stuff. £120 is not much but you should be able to get something on the second hand market.
Enjoy it when you get it...

  9.
It's a trade thread :)

    Si
Oh, that's okay then, although "Ummmm, not really sure on price, I'll have a think about a straight sale" could easily lead one to suppose that wasn't the case.

You should edit that from your OPost or state a price. Then we'll all know where we stand, otherwise you give the appearance that there's one rule (usually complied with or rigidly enforced) for the plebs and another rule for the Mods. And I know you wouldn't want that...

  10.
I've only played it sitting down, but there was no dive I could detect. It's lightning fast to play and has a huge sound.
Which pretty much can be said about every ACG I've ever played (and I reckon I've played seventeen, or so, of the 50 Alan's made so far, including this one when it was at Bassday in 2008 - and I also own two of them).

This is a cracking bass at a decent price. Whoever buys this won't be disappointed.

  11. An update: In June 2009 I suffered a fairly serious stroke and for a while I lost all use of my left side. Alan Cringean got to hear of this and he put the bass onto the back-burner, waiting to see if I still wanted it.

I've quite quickly regained the use of my left side with intensive physio and although I'm a long way off being able to play for the 90 to 120 minutes needed for a gig I AM able to manage about 20 minutes or so now and increasing my left side stamina all the time. There was no question that, in time and with good fortune, I'd return to full left-side mobility. Alan was thus given the go-ahead to continue the build.

I don't have photos to post right now - I'm using the PC at a friend's house - but the progress can be seen here...

    http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/170/

Thanks and sorry there's been no update for a while.

  12. Good luck with the sale but as someone who owns two ACGs already with a third on order... well, I think you're mad for even thinking of selling / trading, frankly. If it wasn't for Christmas and its expenses I'd be biting your hand off right about now.

  13. It used to me mine and I'm sure 7-string won't mind if I add a little more eye candy to his shop window.

It's a great bass which I only sold to fund an ACG custom build (in fact I passed this bass on to 7string at the ACG workshops, when he was there to see progress on his ACG 9 string and I was there to collect my 5 string).

Well worth £300 of anyone's dosh.

I took this to a bassbash one time and stopped everyone in their tracks by playing Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" through a Little Mark and some BFM Omni cabs. It's a HUGE sound.

    Good luck with the sale.

  14.
Which one of your heros is on a ban list then?
No-one so far as I'm aware. I don't have heroes. Isn't goading members also a bannable offence?

I'd expect better from a Global Moderator.
