No radius boards married to asymmetrical neck profiles are *fabulous* to play. The radiused board came about largely so that guitarists could make bar chords easier and because upright basses needed a large radius because they had upscaled the violin board to be fit for purpose given the constraints of double bass construction. Manufacturers used radiused boards on electric basses because that's what they were used to and it simply became the norm, but there's absolutely no need for one on an electric bass.

I find it kind of odd that you pose a question in a for sale thread which, intentionally or not, may put people off buying the bass (and all from a position of ignorance - unless you've owned a no-radius ACG and played it for a few days you frankly haven't a clue what you're talking about) and then wish the seller "good luck for the sale". I mean, really - What were you thinking?

Despite K-sad's ill-informed comment, can I just state (as someone who owns and plays ACGs) that once you've tried a no-radius board with the ACG asymmetrical neck profile you'll probably be reluctant to go back to more standard fare.

Have a bump for a superb flat-board bass guitar.

I've had the pleasure of playing this bass: it's in superb condition, it's top quality and it's very easy to play. Eude's a complete gent too so you can buy in the confidence that you're dealing with an officially "decent bloke" as well.

It's got a string too many for me but the 33 inch scale was a revelation - it's just so easy to navigate.

Sorry to hear about your travails. sh*t happens and this sounds like a huge great crock of happening sh*t. You just have to suck it up, blow it off and simply carry on.

For what it's worth I've only ever considered three criteria when assessing a band to work with and so long as two of the three are there then I'm happy. I take musical ability as a given, if they can't play: I don't stay. But assuming that they're musically able then I consider these factors.

1. Affability
2. Money
3. Music.

Two of the three; thus,

If I get on fine with the band's members and it's a band that earns decent money then I don't care if the music isn't really up my street. Or,

If I get on fine with the band's members and I really love the music they make then I don't really care if the band never earns a penny. Or,

If I love the music they make and it's a band that earns decent money then I can learn to live with musicians that I don't really get along with.

If you can find a band that meets two of the thee criteria, go for it. If they meet all three then bite their hands off for the gig. If there's only one category fulfilled, or none, then walk away quickly.

Slightly OT but worth bearing in mind for the future, maybe.

It's sunburst.

It was originally owned by a US Musician who was a Lakland endorsee. He had a US Glaub as his main live bass and had this Skyline as his backup. The Chicago factory guys got their hands on it before they passed it to him and it has some extras to make it an exact replica of his US model with a torty pickguard and the thumbrest over the pickup. The pup is a Lindy Fralin. It wasn't used live, apparently, coz he never needed his backup. He left the band about six years back and kept both Glaubs before selling this one to me in 2007. It's a very nice bass which I've gigged a few times so it's not showroom condition but it's bloody close.

Supressed market, job losses, belt tightening. It's a scary world out there and not much is shifting. This is a truly daft price for a fabulous bass and I'm frankly astonished that it's not shifted.

I'm toying with the idea of selling my Lakland Skyline Bob Glaub (which I never use any more) to raise some dosh for this. The problem is of course, that that probably won't sell either.

Have a bumb anyway while I have a think about it.

A build thread for my Aussie Blackwood ACG Recurve single cut fiver which will be the seventh ACG in my stable.

This one will have Blackwood front and back with Sycamore accents and Spanish Cedar core. I decided to go with a bolt-on neck for this singlecut on a whim and it's to be a five laminate wenge/maple/padauk arrangement with an acrylic impregnated Flame Sycamore board.

Pickups will be Alan's own SB at the bridge and an RFB at the neck. The biggest change to the specs of my other ACG full customs will be the pre-amp as I've decided to go with a custom East Retro. My decision is based solely upon the fact that I don't have a full custom build with anything other than the ACG EQ01 and I like a bit of variety.

I spent hardly anytime at all choosing the woods for this one. The billet of Blackwood was one of the first pieces I saw and I fell in love with it. It's visually very similar to Koa but it's figured so beautifully that it knocks pretty much every piece of koa I've ever seen into the proverbial cocked hat.

Congratulations on discovering ACG and becoming aware of Alan's superb luthiery skills and visionary outlook on tonal shaping. I've played Pedro's ( now your!) bass on many many occasions and I own 5 ACGs myself with another two on order. You have a gem of a bass. Enjoy.

The first ACG I got has a spalted scottish beech top and a spalted maple board. It's a bit too busy for a lot of people's tastes but I love it to bits.

Really like that spalted top on the Infinity. I've never tried an Infinity, always wanted to. Attractive basses. That's maple, isn't it? Pretty spectacular, that's for sure.

Yes hardware will be black. I'll have quite a wait for this one, I know, but the sense of anticipation is already overwhelming.

I own four ACGs and placed orders for two more last weekend. That unfortunately means I currently have no spare cash for this one but I would recommend having an ACG to anyone interested on a truly top quality bass. I've currently got a Roscoe SKB and a limited edition Rickenbacker for sale, simply to fund my ACG addiction.
