1. I've got 2 of these! I really like the Future Chorus pedal!😎
2. This suggestion might be a good idea for my board actually! Thanks!🙂
3. As promised, I can give an update on how the Battalion is working. Used it in a jam with my guitarist and drummer buddies. The D.I. was engaged with the XLR & Ground Lift switches on, whilst the pedal also went through my Yamaha amplifier and a 4x10". It kept it's volume nicely, whilst the guitarist complement the tone too! I think I can say this purchase is working out well so far!😎
4. Well, the board's purpose for me to be bass player and guitarist, so that explains the size, whilst the D.I. boxes are meant to minimise bringing with me, unless necessity/ego(😉) dictates! I might well consider Dual Lock in the future, as the board does need the current velcro taking off. However, I have seen a couple of useful looking "hacks", including one from a Josh Scott JHS YouTube video, that might come in handy! Thanks for the tip though! 🙂
5. Not all the pedals are daisy chained. The ones that draw over 100mA tend to be separate/on their own. However, most of them are well under that, especially the drive pedals, so I assumed it was fairly safe do so in that case! I'm going to re velcro this board and the pedals in the near future though, so I'll probably rearrange the powerlines anyway!🙂
6. Rest assured ...Mohawk! No one should be made to feel uncomfortable by my board(Carrying it can be, but that's another story entirely! 😁😉)! As for the "Random angles", I just need to do a better job with the application of the Velcro to the board!😖😉
7. I've already posted this on another thread on the site, relating to how the EHX Battalion works. However, I thought I'd post it on this thread anyway, if only out of curiosity!
8. Here's an update, in case anyone might be interested! I've now popped my Battalion on my pedalboard & taken it to a rehearsal room for a hit out. As you can see on the picture, it sits nicely on my board! Soundwise, I ran it through my Yamaha amp head, going into a 4x10" & the room's PA. You might've also guessed that I have a signal chain going into a guitar preamp/D.I. & combo amp, via an Octave pedal. After a playthrough, the D.I. worked perfectly fine with the Battalion on with Compression; on with Drive & Compression; as well modulated delay going into the pedal on & with compression(It even "worked" with delay/compression/drive all on at once-though I don't think I'll need to use all 3 effects in 1 go, at all!). The real test will come when I next rehearse, using it against a drummer and guitarist!🤞
9. I've had the pedal for a couple of weeks now. However, I've only just got around to trying it out. I've initially plugged the Battalion into a Yamaha BBT 500H amp, using the amp's headphone output. I used my Steinberger, which is a passive bass. I did also try using my Ampeg PortaFlex PF350 Head, which also has a headphones output, but I now think that head is R.I.P.!☹️ With the amplifier that did work, I was very pleased with the initially results. The Thru/Dry signal worked fine. The Pedal sounded decent when turned on/EQ engaged. The Noise Gate is, to my liking, too effective. As the signal completely cuts out, after 5-6 seconds, just engaged at '6 O'clock', so I don't think I'll be using it, as I have a load of tuners in my normal signal chain to use as killswitches. The Compressor gives me a decent amount of boost for my ears. The Distortion circuit, although it's not something I'm likely to use that often, sounded pretty good, with a versatile EQ switch! I think I might well enjoy using this bad boy! 😎🤞🤟
10. Thanks lads! I'll just have to see how it works out!
11. Evening all! I recently had a jam with some buddies, using just my pedalboard D.I.s, which go both guitar and bass. The jam was good fun! Unfortunately, I had an issue with the D.I. element gave me issues, which happened to be on the bass end my signal chain! The offending Bass D.I. was a Sonicake Boom Avenue. It's had a load of decent YouTube appraisals, whilst it did sound great when I've actually played it. The trouble was the Amp Emulator kept cutting out during the jam. Now, because the jam might lead to a new band, with gigs and demo recording, I've took the plunge on upgrading to an EHX Battalion pedal. Can any of you fine folks give me any feedback this product?
12. I have too many as well! 🫣😁😉 Ampeg PF-350 Hartke LH500 TC Electronic BH500 Yamaha BBT500H
13. 😧 Really? That's a bit bobbins good sir! 🙁 Then again, you do have The Dr J Sparrow D.I. Driver too, which I tried once ages ago & found to have a decent drive on it. The Sonicake pedal isn't that dear either if you just want a straight swap out(I've had mine for a couple of years now. It's still working ok, though it's only really had light useage in a rehearsal room, via a P.A.. Hopefully I won't need to replace it yet! 🤞) Also, they're enough cheaper and/or dearer options to replace it with, though I'm sure you know that already! 🙂
14. Props/Big +1 for The Sonicake Boom Avenue pedal from me! Mine's brilliant!
15. I've played bass and sung lead and bvs plenty of times. It's been nearly 6 years since I've done it live onstage mind. If you can and want to do it, great. If you can't and/or don't want to, no drama either! I will say I know that notable singing bass players, like Sting and R.E.M.'s Mike Mills, say doing both is hard. Just keep in mind how well those guys have done doing both!

17. ... But I'm giving it a go! Have a look at what I'm aiming for here.: https://www.joinmyband.co.uk/classifieds/bass-playersinger-looking-for-a-drummer-t1389410.html If anyone on here is interested, or if you happen to know anyone who might be interested, just follow the link! Thanks!
18. No problem! Glad it was of some use!
19. I've had a few posts and threads on here regarding a "bass playing a bass and octave up guitar/fuzz signal" set up. In my case, I have an EHX Nano POG pedal set fully to octave up. Because the Nano POG has both Dry and Effect on outputs, I send a Dry output into my bass amp and the Effect "On" output into an already overdriven Boss Katana amp, via an Overdrive/Distortion pedal and a tweaked reverb pedal. On the basis that the above is not what you want, and in light of your purchase of the Ultra Shifter pedal, the following link might be more useful!: https://youtu.be/EYRLzAO05q4
20.
Oh that makes sense, so the higher range without any low end is going to the Katana? Can't see why that won't work!
That is correct good sir! I'm basically using the amp for it's purpose as a guitar amp. It means that my bass sounds like both a bass and a crunchy/distorted rhythm guitar. And it works BEAUTIFULLY! B-)
21. I could be misinterpreting what you mean by full range, so I don't know what the answer to that should be. I will tell how it was set up the gig I played. The bass is first plugged into The Nano POG. The signal is they split into 2 channels via the Nano POG. The Dry output went into the headlining band's Behringer amp, which was D.I.ed preamp. I didn't change any of the bass amp's EQ. The Effect Out output had the Dry and Octave Down to turned off and The Octave Up on full! This was then put through my overdrive/distortion pedal, then a reverb pedal, then my Katana 50. The bass is fully off/cut on the amp EQ. Like I said earlier, this might not be the precise answer you were looking for, but it's the most accurate one I can give. I hope it illustrates how my amps and signal are set up!
22.
I went into PMT this morning and had a look. Out of stock, predictably and their listed dimensions didn't agree with the measurements of the amp either. However, I was a bit concerned about the level of protection offered to the front panel. Is this ply or just padded fabric?
Well, I purchased mine 7 years ago, so I can't comment on stock problems. However, I can tell you that my 2U case is a plastic flight case that has fastening lids/covers on the front and back, so you shouldn't have any worries!
23. Well, the moment of truth has come and passed!... ... the Boss Katana 50 passed the test with flying colours! I only had it on 25 watt output, and it sounded great onstage! I also got glowing feedback from the audience after the gig about the sound too. So, if anyone fancies trying to go for a Royal Blood/Slaves/Drenge style sound, then the Katana amps are great option in both price AND performance!
24.
They fit perfectly in a Gator 2u shallow rack
I'm sure it does! It's just that the 2U case I bought-a version/copy by Black Rat, which is P.M.T.'s rebadged Stagg brand-was the only one available at the time. And I don't see much point in removing it, as it does it's job!
25. Tonight, I try out the Katana 50 & brand new pedal set up in front of a paying audience @ The Academy 3 in Manchester! Will it be a triumph or a disaster? Watch this space to find out!
