2.
What exactly is her "smelly attitude"?
Makes me sniff a bit, that's all .. Been round this one about 4 times now since the first SITSOM came out and, in my opinion, what is my own and what I don't expect anyone else to share unreservedly, is that I find her website distastefully full of self agrandisment. She has done a huge amount, no doubt about it but I prefer Babbitt's approach. Feel free to form your own opinion
 3.
Some dont realise that he and Steve Cropper played on many of the originals that were covered by the Blues Brothers.
Ah yes That's one of my favorite ironies .. Blues Brothers tribute bands doing a tribute to a band doing blues covers made famous by people playing Robert Johnson covers ... .. Re Kaye Vs Jamerson. Don't know, don't care but I love the sound of all that. I just hope it was all Jamerson 'cos Carole Kay's smelly attitude puts me right off her as a person. Not her playing though. I don't think being a bad person makes you a bad bassplayer ...
 4.
I tried them... nice guys. But they don't have the Squier Vintage Modified basses, and apparently there's a 3-month backlog to get them in right now... ouch! I recall someone was selling theirs on Basstalk... anyone know if they sold it?
Wow Well that's what happens when word gets around Fretted £209 http://www.reidys.com/index.pl?submit=View_PLU&PLU=6378
 5.
That's cool. They don't have much of a selection though... do they order stuff in if you ask for it?
My impression is that have loads more stock than is on their website and that they will get in anything they can and sell it at web prices .. So worth a call..

 7.
Be a bore and withdraw the funds. I'd also like to know which shops take Paypal, useful stuff.
these people do http://www.soundsinternational.co.uk/ and match web prices ..
 8. Oh! Here's another one to try .. Just got an email from Guitar Mania They have an ebay sale with a BIN way over the Basscentre price - Pointed it out to them and they will match it too 01202 718886 Chris - Guitar Mania http://guitarmania.vstore.ca/
 9.
I've got some cash burning a hole in my Paypal account at the moment, and I'm seriously considering a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz... problem is, there's none on eBay, and none of the online guitar shops I know take Paypal... anyone got any suggestions?
http://www.soundsinternational.co.uk/ Oddly enough I'm talking to these guys about some MarkBass kit and noticed they take Paypal. They also match best internet prices ... Do your research then talk to Sam. I was looking atthese recently and found: Modded Jazz fretless is £195 at Dolphin http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/fl...7422/a/r/e/base Fretted £209 here http://www.reidys.com/index.pl?submit=View_PLU&PLU=6378
 10.
He only has 3 basses for sale..
Yeah it's a crap site. Worth a call when you want something though.
 11.
I would also suggest trying your local guitar shop also. Many of them are becoming internet savvy and know that they have to compete on price and you are in a position to negotiate face to face as well as trying out the instrument. Just don't take the piss and you could be surprised. I find my local shop very accommodating.
I'm hoping so as I'd much rather deal with a local bricks and mortar place than an online only place for big bits of kit. So, having been on email and phone for the last few days giving real shops the opportunity to match online only prices (actually my email says "get somewhere near" the online price) I've found no one who will happily match Web prices apart from this guy. I'm waiting for my local music stores to get back to me, except for the main dealer who is quoting almost list, and "well we will match if its in our area" .. yet to be defined Previously I've use this guy's willingness to offer good prices to get a better deal out of my local shops ..
 12.
Awful site, true, but refreshing to see that Bass is listed before guitar in the amps list. You don't see that every day. I assume he'll match prices including postage? Quite honestly, Bath might as well be Germany when it comes to getting gear.
Worth a try .. He will for Wales .. dunno about Spain .. Anyway you're coming to the Uk soon arn't you?
 13. Delt with these guys before and they are nice but most importantly, they match best internet prices on stuff. You don't get a lesson on "yeah well internet shops don't have to have a building and pay rent and staf and have stock" and all that gubbins So find your best price online and give Sam a call Sounds International, Bath 01225 319979 http://www.soundsinternational.co.uk/ (crap site!) Tell him I sent you OG
 14.
Did you try the Alesis 3630? I found this to be the most uncoloured of all compressors I tried, and I'd still have one if I still had a rack to keep it in.
60 squid new from Here
 15.
hey after about of year of playing and getting my gear sorted out, i am now looking to join a band. i am a fairly experimental bassist, big fan of fuzz, distortion, overdrive and synth effects. i am, as you may have guessed, totally unexperienced when it comes to bands, and it would be cool if i could make a band from scratch with people with similar experience to me, however joining a band would be just great. favourite bands include muse, rhcp, and amplifier. similar type music is what i wish to play, swinging over to muse more than anythin else. unfortunatly i have no proper amp set up, jus a small combo, but i do have a musicman SUB bass and the pedals you can see in my sig pictures (- the dha, its not built for me yet). i am a student at UWE, and live in widnes, near liverpool, when not term time, so i am in bristol til end of this month, then i will be back again from august thru july. if anyone is interested in a jam, or just wants to chat about the possibility of being in a band with me, add me on msn (pm request) or email me at kevman69[at]gmail[dot]com. to check out how i play, have a look at my rather rough videos on my youtube channel HERE hope to hear from you guys!
Put an ad on http://www.bristolrock.co.uk/ Cheers, OG
 16.
Jazz/Rock/Funk Pretty much anything really.
Put the add on bristolrocks matey http://www.bristolrock.co.uk/
 17.
For example.. I go ON and ON and ON and ON about Shuker. Gawd.. it's lucky I like them and not hate! lol lol lol
Not noticed that ha ha ha A fellow folkin' band mate I know just phoned up the boss of well known UK Amp company and got a deal where they supply the band with their PA and backline - lust like that - all they do is have a "we use and endorse" thing on their website and give teh co feedback on their kit. They get some new lines to test too.
 18. Bit busy, Sorry. Turning pro means what, exactly? So many variations there that you need to separate it all out and define the threads so you can tune your marketing to hit the people who can make it happen. Just not working at anything else? paid studio work? writing jungles? on tour with your own band playing death metal originals? Circus band? BBC Jazz Band? WMC 4 days a week and all over the country in a transit (or whatever you young whipper snappers travel in now) Also Please do this do a table. Left col: Each individual person you think needs to know about you and your skills and abilities to enable you to achieve your goals and objectives. Middle col, what do they need to know Col 3 what's the best way to make that information available to them - Website, my space, other. - You may find that different threads need different web things so you may need several different myspaces - one for each. And you may find that you don't need a website at all. Please Pm me when you get this together. Cheers PS I guess you and your dad could do this as it's pretty much generic marketing stuff - define objectives, define target market, define how to reach target market, define what to communicate to get them to do what you want them to .. Nothing particularly "music" about it so far OG, (up to my armpits in Beauty Consultant marketing as it happens .. Back, crack and sack, anyone?)

 22.
OG It's the former, Brune Street. Edited: Oops they're both in Brune Street, it's the latter one. I know that I may appear laid back with this but I'm giving the BC a chance to get the amp, preferably a new one, to me soonest. There is still a way ahead as I see it albeit a seriously delayed one. If this doesn't work out then I'll be acting along the lines you suggest. Maybe my fairly polite post will come to their attention and prompt them into chasing it up. There's been little evidence than my many phone calls have achieved the same
Hummmmmmm Interesting. I'm looking for a MBII and the online basscentre is the best UK price I can find .. maybe it's worth a few quid more to buy from my local bricks and mortar dealer (if I can't find a used one, that is)
 23. Can you clarify if this is Bass Centre House of Guitars Brune Street London E1 7NH Phone: 207 247 7847 UK or http://www.basscentre.com/cat/index.php Thanks Also there's a pile of legislation to protect you and you can demand replacement or refund. If you bought it with a credit card you can get a refund from them and they will take on the company. If you haven't already done it make a record of everything that has happened with dates, note down the content of all calls and conversations. This is in case youneed to prove things later I'd call them and say you "reject the goods under the terms of the sale of goods act as not being fit for purpose "and ask for a refund, of all costs. I'd not bother with trying for a replacement, it sounds like the relationshop has gone beyond that. I'd not trust them to do it anyway. If that doesn't do it you may have to take it to the small claims court. Your contract is with the supplier (the basscentre) and you should not have to deal with anyone else, whatever they say. Keep us informed .. OG
