  4. I got a nice balanced sound on my warwick alien with black nylon Gallon strings. Not p'urethane really, must have had a metal core. Think I got from stringbusters or such to try and liked them. Good subject m8
  5. Thanks Sam, lovely to meet you both. Amazing EUB, I promise to work on my intonation. Best of luck with your new bass
  6. Just a thought, with my 5 stringers I tend to use a 130-135 low B and a standard 4 string set that suits. Dont think I use the B as much as I might but it seems to last longer and doesnt stretch the neck as much. Also the thicker B gauge gives tune at a lower tension. Sorry if all this is 'eggs for Granny' thought I might chip in.

  9. Hi JC, I cant offer much help with the Bacchus but have an Elrick Platinum 5 string that continues to drop my jaw when I play it. Dont know how Mr E does it but the combination of the woods, his design of the details and the electronics just humble me. This ones a hybrid evolution with Bart pups and and 18v Aquilar OPB3(?) preamp - have to check that. Here is its sibling anyway: http://www.elrick.com/platinum/e-vol5Hybrid_CrotchedWalnut.htm Flatters me when I use slap or fingerstyle - it just is too good for what I play. I px'd some decent stuff at bass gallery some years back to fund a 5 string and had the pick of so many basses (Warwicks, Overwater, MM, Fender etc etc) but chose this one. MArtin P set it up and it has played beautifully ever since. Been way too good for gigging (ol faithful- warwick streamer ) could bear it to get dinged or pinched. There's some choice vids of Elricks on Youtube or try www.basszone.it for an brilliant set of sample sounds. I think the thread is... http://www.basszone.it/pictures.htm#EXPAT5AS or somewhere round thereabouts. Now the sad bit: I have made a deal with Sam Keen on a 5string EUB and the only way I can repay my piggybank short of auctioning a kidney is sell my Elrick. Havent really reconciled this yet but will (should) be on the Sale forum later this week. Good luck with whatever you decide, just try one first. Andy
  10. S'mae Mr bassman. Would a EA iamp 500 be any use as a trade? PM for you. Andy

  12. You have have a deal. PM awaits u.
  13. I've owned one of these and they are very good indeed, If its a good 'un and well set up it'll play well. Bargain for someone breaking into 5 stringers. Good luck
  14. Hi, are you still looking for an EA amp. I have a iamp 500 in mint condition if you're interested in a part exchange + cash.
  15. HI Dave, two things on my mind: Where about are you based? Is cash on collection ok? HAve a mint 5 string Elrick Platinum hybrid to sell to fund my growing obsession with EUB Ta
