3. Double Bassist available. Jazzer. Would consider good Folk style band. High Peak area (That's Derbyshire ). PM me.
4. Is there a big difference in buying a fairly good 'low end of the market' Bass Guitar (Say under £200) to paying, say, £1000 or more? Is it like most like most things in life---'you get what you pay for' syndrome? Your advice most welcome on the good Bass Guitars---up to say £400--and the one's to avoid. Thanks
5. Hi Grangur I live in High Peak, which is north Derbyshire. I would not ship---collect or meet up somewhere.
6. Exchange or sell my customised 'Palatino' EUB for quality acoustic or electric Bass guitar. Details on my 'Palatino' EUB: Customised Bridge & T/Piece fitted. Original transducer taken out and Double Bass pick-up fitted. (Bought from Pierre Josephs Violins CA. USA. for my Double Bass.) Side dots (Inlays) on side of F/B.'Palatino' cosmecticaly not brillliant. Plays well--good sound--easy action. Gig bag. Comes with stand (Modified drum stand---so can be played on the stand--and left on the stand.) Send me a PM for photo's. Exchange or sell for £425. If exchange--what have you?
7. When considering a separate amp & cab would buying both from the same manufacturer be the best bet?---as both designed to work together in the best possible way?
8. Does anyone know where I can obtain (or who makes it) the tacky 'putty' that is used by some pick-up manufacturers to adhere pick-ups to soundboards?--very pliable--leaves no marks when removed--can be used again. (A bit like 'Bluetack'--but more pliable).
9. Anyone want an EUB? Customised 'Palatino' EUB---fitted stand. Customised bridge & tailpiece. Inlaid side dot markings on F/B. Original transducer taken out & quality magnetic pick-up fitted.(Bought from USA originally for Double Bass---works great on the 'Palatino'). Plays well---good solid sound. A good entry level EUB. Gig bag. Cosmetically not brilllant. Will sell for £425 or exchange for quality acoustic bass guitar. What have you? For pics. of the 'Palatino' send me a PM with your email address. (Hassle with posting pics. on BC--pics. to large.)
10. Many thanks guys for your input. Much appreciated. I have contacted OBBM. gypsyjazzer.
11. I am about to invest in quality leads----from DB to amp. What are you experiences of leads---the more you pay the better the quality, or is that a misnomer? Your preferences of makes? Are the 'Monster' make worth the money?
12. A set of Thomastik Spirocore Weich's wanted for 3/4 DB bass.
13. Has anyone tried the DPA 4099B D/B mic? I may be thinking of buying one--your thoughts on the mic?
14. Can anybody help? I have a thickly padded DB case. Two of the sown-on-handles have come adrift from the case and need to be re-sown back onto the case. Can anybody recommend anybody who can do this? South Manchester area prefered, but willing to travel.
15. Thanks for your input on the slap subject.
16. I would like to try a quality mic. that attaches to the D/B. Have you got one you wish to dispose off? What have you? email me at: [email protected]
17. Many thanks for your response to my question. What make of pick-up have you tried that you are happy with?--and gives good acoustic reproduction. I also play banjo & guitar and for me I always go back to the mic.as being the best-- But always the feedback problem. Never tried the Fishman 'Full Circle' for D/B--one of the best out there?
18. I have a well made German D/B--circa. 1880'ish. Good solid acoustic sound all over the F/B. When I amplify the sound at the bottom end (Nut) area of the neck the sound is great. As I move up the F/B (Past D on the G string) the volume on the G & D strings tend to thin out--almost acoustic in volume. Have you experienced the same problem? I use a GK MB150S amp with an 'Acusound' strip transducer attached to the table behind the bridge. (The transducer is made for acoustic guitar---about 5 inches x 1/2 inch---but works well on the D/B producing good volume in the bottom half of the bass.) Thought: Would a second transducer placed under the F/B solve the problem?
19. Probably silly question--but here goes: Has anyone tried to slap on an EUB? Results?
