Agree with those previous posts recommending Barefaced Super Compact it's a great cab. I would suggest you look at Mesa Subway D800 amp, built-in HPF and a simple EQ setup with the ' Character ' control providing easy access to a range of familiar amp sounds. The new Fender Rumble 800HD is also a real workhorse.
Cool. Sooooooo many options🤦♂️

Lots of good lightweight cabs out there, Barefaced and Vanderkley will get lots of mentions. However finding a "good" lightweight Class D head is a different ball game IMO. I've tried loads and I've yet to try anything that really comes up to scratch.
Don't be fooled by the Trace Elliot stickers on the Elf - it doesn't have the same heft that you experienced from the classic stuff. The company is now based in the US so you won't get the same easy to access customer service that you got when they were based in the UK.
I wasn't impressed with the TC gear. The Genz Benz gear which everybody was talking about a few years ago has seemingly fallen from grace since the company was bought out by Gibson (I believe). You'll undoubtedly get recommendations for the Genzler.
I didn't get any inspiration from the Darkglass but I do know that some people swear blind by them, especially if you like a heavy modern, rock tone..
Ashdown are coming back into popularity - dirt cheap, excellent customer service, a presence on this forum and good products mean you get a lot for your buck.
If it were my money and I had to buy a Class D head I'd certainly think about a EBS - general consensus that the Customer Service is excellent.
Thanks for this!

Sweet! Thanks

Hey that’s awesome of you!
Think these barefaced super compact are defo winning in the cab race!
Guessing plenty have tried the terror 500 paired with one? Any good?
-
Hey thanks! Not used ashdown kit for a decade or so! Guessing they’ve upped their game.
-
Can go to maybe a grand all in. Totally cool with used.
Used TC, terror bass, ampeg svt and old trace in the past. Never tried these barefaced or many class d’s. Hence advice needed!!🧐

Hi, been a while
Gonna start playing the bass again. Need to get an amp/cab but needs to be lightweight but killer sounding. Rock genre, simple setup (bddi, fuzz, oc-2).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
Ta very much

Sent amp back to orange. The FET shorted and blew a internal fuse. They sorted at no cost and sent it back. Top service from orange!
-
Don't suppose you're taking a nice Xmas break in sunny Yorkshire this year??
-
Spoke to someone who's fixed a few of these and he suggests it's the power module that needs replacing. Apparently I have to send to orange. Gonna cost 100 bish. Gutted. Thanks for all the help tho!!
-
Awesome! I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks
-
I've tried several different speakon cables and speakon to jack.
How do I sort the potential dodgy input on the amp??? -
On the amp?? Dunno how I'd sort that???
-
Sorry, forgot to mention, it still has no sound coming out. Oops
-
Had this amp a couple of years. Used minimally. Recently sold it to a friend and he used it a couple of times and told me it now doesn't work. He's not trying it on, it really doesn't.
The orange light turns on and the fan seems to be working. There's just no sound coming out. I've tried several cabs, same with all.
Did a wee bit of research and figured I'd switch the valves out and see if maybe they'd died or had become faulty. Bought some new uns from the lovely folk at Watford valves and they glow and seem fine. NB the previous/original ones glowed too.
Im a total leyman at this. Any ideas??

Yeah that barefaced looks awesome but I don't think he wants to spend that much brass!
Stylistically he's playing pop rock and generally has quite a bit of grit via sansamp di . I think 2-300 quid is all he has to spend.
Thanks for all the replies btw! -
As the title suggests, my bass player needs to get hold of a small, portable and lightweight cab that can still kick out a little thunder. Suggestions? I guess it needs to be 4 or 8 ohms as he's using the terror 500 as an amp.
Thanks! -
Great piece of kit for the price. Good luck with sale dude!!
-
Bought my OC7. Very smooth and efficient transaction. Thanks
-
I agree, I'll take this bass as my prize. That's very kind of you!!
-
I'm married. Keep the bass
-
I love these. Absolutely stunning. You should keep it. Or someone should bite your arm off to get it. Good luck

This guy is ace to deal with. His communication was first rate, even if mine wasn't!!
-
It's just one guy. He uses a big muff for guitar and I presume he uses the same for recording bass. Search 'Matt Bigland Pedalboard' for images if his set up. Like i say, he writes and records everything and as far as I know he doesn't have a great deal of bass equipment. Probably just uses what he has for guitar.
Best lightweight setup

LOVE the look of that quilter. No fuss. Thinking maybe 4x10 may be a little too large for my spec currently. Thanks tho!!!🤘
