6.
Hey folks, Well, it has been quite some time since i've posted here last. A lot has happened - from getting my dream rig, to touring the UK with the band. Unfortunately the latter is what put all the nails in the coffin. It was such a positively awful experience i wouldn't have wished upon anyone. Further to that, i've decided to concentrate on studying and i just can't juggle the two. Not to mention i've recently gone through an upheaval of moving house since. It has been a busy few months, of which i didn't keep up with very well. In fact, i've let a lot of people down and really disappointed myself in doing so. I just thought i'd post because i'm in a bit of a situation regarding my gear. Do i sell it all, keep some of it or keep it all? It took me ages to get a Mesa 400+ and my rig sounded really incredible. I'm in need of money though, to kick start saving/investment. What is the best way to approach my situation? I'm only 20, experienced being number 58 in the German album charts, have made lots of good contacts and met lots of great people, not to mention i am quite sure i still have plenty of fuel in the tank. Help me good people. Cheers Jamie.
Getting rid of yer possessions(esp something you love doing)isnt a good idea,i done similar yrs ago with my bike(kwack zzr11 which my wife had bought me) cos id been made redundant and felt guilty cos we had the 6 boys and the car was shagged out....in her words it turned me into "a mumpy b*****d"and never solved anything domestic-wise long term......keep yer gear other solutions will arise.
  7. Cheers for the replies guys all good advice and yea thats why i persevere.....it is fun ,i love the Ibanez(cheers again Bassassin)...wife reckons im weird cos i keep lookin at it even when im not playing....its my new baby

  9.
The 775 stuff might be useful to me, do you know what models the mobos are?
kind of,one a Asus P5GD1-FM other two are similar spec but havnt tested either of them, the asus is working and still sitting with a skt 775 2.9ghz cpu/fan.
  10. Havnt been playing long but decided im gonna start from scratch,i can play bits of songs n stuff but think i should be better than i am,anyone any suggestions what i should be aiming to master first and set targets that would help me?
  11. All good sound advice guys,i lost a 3 month old laptop due to being too trusting/nieve tit,i was only here a day when i sold the T40(but stuck to your guidelines here, posted pics, serial num etc)and even better traded luckily enough with a member less than 20 miles away in person, internet theft pisses me off for some reason more than normal theiving, its not only the cash value your losing its the fact somethings taken from you that youve saved hard to get for some junkie b******d to rip off and flog to a secondhand shop for a fraction of the value.all finished ranting now
  12. Any of you watched themovie "sex drugs n rock n roll" out awhile ago??....quiet a good watch if you were a Dury/Chas Jankel fan.

  14.
Great to meet you Dougie, loving the T-40! Popped a 2-way switch in to replace the broken one (turns out it's a phase switch) and everything's sounding good now. Will give it a proper clean-up and new strings ASAP and put it through its paces at next practice. Hope you enjoy the Ibby, it's a sweet little bass & I'm probably going to miss it! Any problems or anything you need a hand with, let me know. And your little lad's a diamond! J.
Thanks Jon,yea having heaps of fun with it,actually beginning to think im getting somewhere, sweet to handle and seems much easier than i found the T40

Once again guys thanks for all that pm`d me,its now in the hands of Bassassin who i met up with earlier and swapped with some cash(my way) for a mint Ibby,Thanks Jon.......great guy to deal with, offered me use of his sound room etc to try it out and even entertained my hyperactive 6 yr old who was making me s**t myself with his "must touch" "whats this?" "whats that?" antics, pleasure meeting you m8,best of luck with the T40
  18. Looking for someone to teach me basic bass, been trying to pick it up myself from video tutorials with limited success ,obviously pay the going rate but be warned....it will be like teaching Stephen Hawkins how to do the can-can.

  20.
Lmao....closer than you realise,Livingston....20 minutes away.
Update on this guys, meeting up with Bassassin this weekend, had good offers from a few of you(and appreciate it)but Assassins minutes down the road saving posting etc...plus his Ibanez is the same colour as my bike lol (Yam R1)
  21.
Whereabouts are you? I see from your intro post you're in Scotland - I'm in Edinburgh so if you were interested in my Ibby we might be able to meet up. Otherwise, I'd recommend whipping off the strings, unbolting the neck, bubble-wrap both bits thoroughly & then bung both bits in a sturdy cardboard box, packed out with loads of scewed-up newspaper. J.
Lmao....closer than you realise,Livingston....20 minutes away.
  22. Cheers for the pm`s im getting from you guys, all good offers, whats the best method you guys use to ship guitars about???,only thing worrying me is i dont have a hard case or such to send it in.
  23.
hi. so im wondering what advice the board could give regarding trading? if you are both sending something by courier for instance, theres gonna have to be a lot of trust involved? or is there a 3rd party through which you can carry out the transation? any thoughts on this greatly appreciated, as im thinking about doing a trade. cheers
Yea im in the same frame of thought(thinking of trading)Ive been stung hard when selling a laptop one so wary, very least i would insist on before postage is communication through a home phone number, ideally if i trade id rather deal with someone in a distance that an amacable meet up could be arranged, not always possible though and can restrict the level of interest.
  24. Hi guys, after reading through the forum sections(which has got me back into wanting to practising for hours again)ive decided that im gonna sell/trade the T40 for something better suited.Im into learning Metallica stuff and suchlike so looking for something modern looking and lighter. Anyway heres what i have,Peavey T40,when i removed the scratchplate there was a date and signature under it stating 3/13/79 but the serial number 00364045 doesnt suggest its 1979 from what ive found,it has a few marks on the body(not bad ones),when i bought it i put it into a local shop to restring and check it over and the guy said it was in excellent nick for its age.It has one problem though as one of the toggle switches has snapped off(reason i had the scratchplate off)and i havnt replaced it yet as hoping to source out a matching original one,all the control knobs are smooth with no crackling etc and i fitted a new input jack. All in all i think its better suited to someone whos played bass for longer and is wasted on a beginner, havnt really got a price in mind so open to offers of cash/another bass, cash either way. EDIT-Apologies it seems rules here are a price is needed, It owes me £270 so thats the ballpark figure im aiming at.....trade still welcome though.

    Hi

Hi all, Discovered your forums whilst googling for a switch id somehow broken on my T40,first class job guys, descent helpful members and well laid out and informative Anyway now ive kissed ass,im Dougie,a 45 yr old from Scotland who has always wanted to learn bass(usually when p****d listening to rock at volumes that make my neighbours want to sell up and my rottweiller attack me(serious!),finally got a Peavey T40 in respectable condition from a mate which ive learned is apparently a descent guitar, only thing i had to repair was change the input jack and apart from the odd mark here and there looks and sounds nice, due to the fact i cant play it lol it sits as an ornament but im trying......(eventually i intend to replace it with a nice modern bass which is lighter, never really appreciated anything old be it car, bike or women) Look forward to posting and joining in with you guys, again congrats on a superb forum.
