1. I'm happy to say that Paul represents all of the good aspects traditionally found in most bass players, i.e. honest and trustworthy. The P Deluxe I bought was as described, very well parcelled-up and arrived on time. Cheers Pau, Ade
2. Hi Dave, great to see you today. Got the bass home and I've not been able to put it down. It seems to work for me really well and I'm chuffed. It's a shame bass players don't run the world. No hype just help. All the best Dave and hope to see you again at some future time, Ade
3. Many thanks, yes, I'm starting to think the same thing. Used to know a very handy chap, Clever Trevor, who was a wizz with amps etc. but I think he's now retired, or worse, as I've not come across him for a while. I'll start asking around. Cheers, Ade
4. Thanks mate for this. I'm sure it's not battery issues, as I've put in a number of new PP3s and the same thing happens after about 10 mins. I've got two of these bases, almost identical, and the other one is fine. The bass, with the fault, does not die on me but once the volume level has dropped of - say about 20% after about 10 mins - it just stays at the lower volume. It's still perfectly usable but I've got to compensate for this predicted loss when playing. I could live with it but it's just got me baffled as to why this should happen. Very strange. Cheers, Ade PS I've got an old Stingray and someone, years ago, built in a period sliding on/off switch in the pickguard for exactly the same reasons as you've suggested.
5. Many thanks. The battery doesn't drain though. The next time I use the bass it's fine, with the same battery, for about 10 mins then the volume starts to drop off again. It could be something as simple as a dry joint? I don't know any 'technical' people in my area so seeing if it's something simple first before I need to send it somewhere. Cheers again.
6. Hi, I've got two virtually identical Precision Lyte basses, both circa 1990, bought due to back issues and needing a lighter bass. One is fine but the other starts off at high volume but drops in volume after about 10 minutes of playing without any adjustments. I've put new batteries in but the same thing happens every time. I'm not an electronics expert but wondering if there's some form of capacitor that needs replacing? Just looking to see if anyone has had the same predicament and, if so, how they resolved it. Cheers, Adrian
7. A note to say I've just bought a lovely Lakland Bass from Ordep Resplandor, via Basschat, and would like to thank him for providing both an excellent description of the bass a going out of his way to get the instrument both properly packaged and delivered without any hitch. It must be a characteristic trait of bass players to be honest and trustworthy people and Chris exemplifies this. Thanks mate and all the best, Ade
8. Hi chaps, thanks so much for getting back to me. I did order a generic bridge set from Ebay with steel saddles, still waiting for it to come, but the lad I bought it from suggested emailing Mark or Guy at Ashdown Engineering. I did and Mark came straight back to me say that they may have some in stock. I've asked for X2 and he said he'd get back to me on Tuesday. Thanks again, Ade
9. Looking for replacement ceramic bridge saddle for Lodestone Pro 4 Bass as in attached photo. Any help/information on how to get one would be appreciated.
10. Hi, just wondered if you ever found a ceramic saddle? I got the same bass and one broke in half yesterday.

12. Bass player, living in East Cleveland, is looking for potential work either with a band or via deputising. Experience gained via formal training in music then worked with both Coverdale and Rea in their original line-ups. Recent experience with ceilidh, folk (Teesside Fettlers), popular music and big bands (Musicians Unlimited). Have undertaken live radio work, both national and local, and national TV work over the years. I have Mark Bass equipment and four and five string electric basses. I’m currently getting back into playing doubler bass and also play tuba and trumpet. I have a reliable 4X4. I read, both music and chords, and also able to play without dots and create bass-lines for original music. I write, and won through to the semi-finals of the UK National Song Writing Competition in 2008. Looking to work with professionally minded musicians, possibly of mature status – like me, and would prefer to work one or two nights per week maximum in the North East area. I’m not keen on pub work and in no rush to find a ‘best fit’ band. I am currently self-employed, will declare any potential earnings and I’m member of the Musician’s Union and hold public liability insurance through them. Please feel free to contact me via 0787 981 1904

14. Mature, but not yet senile, bass player wanting pro or semi-pro work in, or around, the Cleveland, North Yorkshire or Durham areas. Experience gained within many different bands and, most recently, big band, dance band, folk, ceilidh and pop band work. 15. Hi Lucatus, Sorry, that's my best offer so I'll not progress with the deal. Cheers, Adrian
Hi there, thanks for the offer. I didn´t think about posting it, however I would be open to do so, but the price would be 700 plus shipping costs. ParcelForce has very good feedback on this forum, so I will check their conditions, I know UPS also insures and can take payment for me, so no need to do bank transfers, etc...I´ll find out if ParcelForce does the same, if not then UPS would be an option. For their prices, etc, you can check http://www.ups.com/media/en/gb/service_guide_gb.pdf Anyway, before posting I would tell you, at least roughly, how much would be at the end. BTW, I´ll be away from computers for a couple of days, nasty eye infection. Will be back at the end of the week for questions, etc. Cheers.
16. Hi Lucatus, Thanks for the information. I live in the North East of England, so trying is not an option, but I have palyed a USA deluxe before and I know what a good bass they are. If you'll accept £700, including solid packaging and insured delivery to me (£25ish via a courier or Parcel Force) then you've got a deal. Please email me on [email protected] and we can sort out how I pay you, if this is acceptable. Cheers, Adrian
Hi there, sorry for keeping you waiting! From Fender.co.uk (http://www.fender.com/en-GB/support/articles/u-s-instruments-product-dating)you can date this lovely bass as an American Deluxe from 2005 (serial is DZ5074787, the pic is below). Bought it about 12 months ago second hand at Wunjo Guitars (excellent customer service and prices, btw), it is on great condition, only has a few scratches you can see below. I´m only selling it because I´m more focused on 5 strings and I have too many, but it has been my main bass for months because it sounds and feels amazing. As I said, comes with original Fender case and I encourage to come and try it rather than post it. Cheers. This is behind the 3rd fret but doesn´t get on the way playing
17. Hi, Please can you let me know the approximate age of the bass and condition? Cheers, Countbassist
Hi there. After years and years of buying instruments I don´t really need, I´ve decided to sell a few of them, so I´m parting ways with this amazing bass. Bought it a year ago second hand on Wunjo Guitars and I´ve used it only on a couple of gigs and rehearsals, it has active 3 band EQ, string-through-body bridge, maple fretboard and alder body. Pics are here! If you want, I can put more photos. I really prefer, on this and the other ones I´ll be selling, if we can arrange having a look at it/collection/cash rather than sending it. Initially, I´m asking for 800 pounds. Cheers! 18.
Welcome from another 'lifer'. I started playing quite young too. Still seems like a good idea eh ? T
Hi essexbasscat, Many thanks for your warm welcome. I've never been a guitarist, always bass. I reckon we made the right decision. Cheers mate, CountBassist
19.
Welcome aboard from another PBass enthusiast
Hi alanbass1, Many thanks to you also. I think the beauty of the P bass is its simplicity. After years of buying, and playing many different models including 6 strings and fretless, I’ve had to ask myself the question, what is a bass? My role now is acting as the link between the rhythm section and the rest of the band. With the sort of big band work I'm undertaking I really do need to 'felt' rather than 'heard'. My old P bass fits this role well. Cheers, CountBassist PS Colin Hodgkinson may have a different perspective
