It's a good point about the leads though.[/quote] Oh, that's a problem... even using a adaptor the baterry issue woudn't be fixed... i'm guessing the other plug is a XLR (probably a acoustic bass), you could have a XLR to 6mm (female) Jack adaptor but isn't very practical unless you would leave it connected to that bass.

Why don't you just simply mute your signal (with a tuner pedal for example) and use the same cable for all your 3 bases? Just need to unplug the bass, lay it down on the stand, pick another up and connect the jack! I used to play with 2 bases, a electric and a acoustic bass and used a Boss AB-2 to switch betwen both but the trouble you get from keeping the cables from wrapping arround themselves or even your legs simply isn't worth the trouble... and you save more battery having them disconnected (if active). As for your use of the looper i guess you'll have no problem with it. Go either way

I use a compressor in the end to level out some occasional peaks (mostly pops wile slapping). Even with a compressor i want to keep my dynamics and if i want to play lightly in the strings or give it a good smack i don't want it to raise or lower my volume becoming it dull and constant and boring!! I hate that kind of compressors!!! You probably would say a limiter is more suitable for me but when it attacks a peak it simply cuts the sound at some point of the peak... A compressor decays that peak resulting in a more pleasant sound with a more continuous flow. The best pedal i've come across for that is the EBS but i have some curiosity with the Aguilar TLC. Hope you can understand my idea, my english isn't very good

+1 on the 8ohm load here! I have a 1x15" combo and a 2x10" combo. both have 8ohm internal speakers. i agree with getting a 4x10" TE cab from the same era but the weight of that rig will become obscene!

That's exactly what i'm trying to get in my pedalboard: Tuner (korg pitchblack) -> Octave (MXR) -> Valve DRIVE (MB Distorsore but still searching) -> Fuzz (pickle pie B ) -> Auto-wah (3leaf audio) -> Fuzz in the 3leaf internal loop (EHX BBM) -> Synth (EHX Bass Microsynth or Akai Deep Impact if i could score one ) -> Compressor (EBS) Just missing the pickle pie and the microsynth!

Thats why you just can't get the same punch and quality using a Trace head connected to another brand of speakers. They're made to work together and get the best sound possible that way. They have a massive punch! I think other brands may be more generic and offer an overall good sound as the Traces are more focused in playing a particular tone but like no other can ... Love my Traces but unfortunatly my back don't...!!!

how can you link your guitar on to your fx send?!! it's a out link. you should be connecting it to the fx return socket! in that case only your power amp will be affected by your guitar signal. no harm to your material if your speakers are able to handle the high freq's use your fx send to connect to the fx in of the other amp. doing that the pre-amp you have your bass plugged in wil be driving both power amps. good if your second amp has a poor pre

I have a MXR BOD and find this a octave pedal with very good tracking as long as the pedal sits first in my fx chain. I play with a SR5'er and can get reasonable tracking on the B string. Not entirely perfect but the best one i've tried yet

1. The gain IS set with the volume rolled all the way back. Trace Elliot uses this system in their amps for decades. Like lightbulbjim told you it's mainly for silent tunning. 2. If you want to plug in an extra amp use the FX send plug. The headphone socket is stereo and i'm not shure of what signal comes out of it, probably not suited to drive a pre-amp... 3. Don't you mean connect it in the FX return socket? Yes it is possible to do that [b]BUT[/b] you can harm your amp or speakers... don't actually know the specs of them or how will they react to the guitars high frequencies but i would advise you to play it safe and not to risk your gear. Go out and buy yourself a cheap 30-50W amp for that guitar and rock on

The Boss AW-3 is also a nice and cheap way to get you started with a fairly ok sound. I used a Digitech Bass Synth Wah before i bought the 3leaf but it didn't convince me.

Don't have experience with the UV bulb models but it seems that you need to change the bulb. Do you connected the amp to a plug with ground wiring? Sometimes the noise problems have a cause as simple as that! Also i would advise you to get your amp serviced on a trusty place. 10 years is a long time of dust and moist building up

I use a EBS Multicomp in the dual band mode. I have the internal trim pots set to a point it compresses/limits the highs a little more than the lows. I like it and use it always on because it's not much of a compressor but more like a limiter. It doesn't affect my playing dynamics, if i want to play lightly on the string it won't turn my volume up and if i stroke the chord with more power it lets that note come out. It acts in the frequence of the sound instead of on the volume of it like the vast majority of cheap pedals on the market. Aguilar recently launched the TLC compressor, i think it may be even better than the EBS, from what i've "heard" n the net, but haven't tried it yet!

If you link in this order: Octave -> Overdrive -> 3Leaf , with the 3leaf in the down sweep position and juggle a bit with the three fx you can get some very nice synthy sounds, kinda like the EHX Bass Microsynth sound but not that good, obviously! ... hummm... i think there's some GAS for a Microsynth comming up!

If you look close you'll see on the right of the trace logo written GP7 Bass Pre Amp 300, so i think your BPA is exactly that. The amp is very simple and as i stated has a very natural sound with all the eq's and gadgets turned off (i rarely colour my signal). It has 2 shape modes but i only like one of them. I use the GP12 for gigs and have the GP7 at home for practising linked to a DIY cab because i think the GP7 lacks some "balls" to cut trough the mix. I've tried them both live and i could hear more from the GP12 at lower volume. But don't be alarmed by my talking! Try the amp because it's realy good. Oh! Almost forgot! The back panel is very simple, it only has the power section (plug and switch) and, in the middle, has 3 jack sockets verticaly aligned: one for tuner out and the other two for speaker connection. Here's the thing: your amp is rated as 307W máx! Doesn't matter how powerfull your cabs will be, it'll never put out more than 307W of power when working at 4ohms. So you won't feel the diference between the 400W speaker and the 150W one. If you were to connect just one of those speakers to the amp you'll be getting something close to 180W@8ohm of output. In that case you should be careful with the 150W speaker to not max out it's power handling. in sum: the amp says how much power can be putted out by it the speakers say the max power output they can handle normaly you'd get speakers with more power handling than the amp can produce so they won't be harmed by it but big differences in handling power to the output can be harmfull for the amps since they will force the amps to produce excessive heat. In your case i think you would be more than ok with your rig. Cheers

Hope i'm not saying anything stupid, but if you want all the preamp gadgets on the SMX working you can't connect the FX send to the other amp because you loose the compression (and probably the noise reduction if existing) seccion wich come after the FX section and the FX loop itself. In my idea the best way to do that link is to connect all the preamp seccion from the DI out in post eq mode to the fx input on the power amp! That way you have all the preamp section comming out the SMX and entering in the nearest point of the power amp section... Simply use a XLR<--->1/4 mono Jack to do it! Wait till someone supports my idea before trying it though, i may be wrong Cheers
