My lovely Aunt Florrie passed away earlier this year, she left me and the wife some wedge, the missus bought a new sofa and I bought an EUB with it, I named it Flo (the EUB, not the sofa).

My daughter wants to play! Happy days! Also twice as much gear to buy which I see as an additional plus point. She quickly dropped playing guitar after a couple of tries but has stuck at 4 strings and asks me to use a bass almost every night. She got the bug big time and is soooo excited by anything and everything bass. I'm loving it ❤️

These bloody celebrity gardeners are all liars. I saw one a while back advising us that horse manure would make strawberries tastier and more juicy. In reality, it does nothing to improve them at all. I'm going back to double cream and I'd advise everyone else to do likewise.

Had my 'growth talk' at work yesterday. A sort of career progression thing that must be really handy for the younger engineers especially. Boss's first question (admittedly with his tongue firmly in his cheek): "So Rich, where do you see yourself in 5 years..?" Me: "Retired." Boss: "Want to expand your skillset? Anything you'd like to do in the meantime?" Me: "Exactly what I'm doing now will suit me fine, ta." End of talk.

A bit of tweakage to my JayRay fretless. As it was based on an OLP 'Ray, it was originally passive... I'd intended to either buy a Stinger preamp or make one on vero, but then I rediscovered the 2-band EQ from my old Yamaha RBX765 lurking in the spares box, so I've fitted that instead. I'd forgotten how powerful a preamp it is. Absolutely brought it to life. I love tinkering with stuff, especially when it turns out as well as this has.

Really really pleased with a couple of purchases from fellow BC members in the last week or so. Got myself an amazing AI DoubleShot cab, and a Danelectro Longhorn bass. Both amazing. A good start to the new year for me

If one were to woo a lady with a succession of Reggae songs, where might be a good place to start? Without being too direct. I feel a good term would be blatant subtlety which i coincidentally may have just come up with yet cannot fully explain. I have no idea what i'm doing except steering towards the little bit of light at the end of this dark tunnel

Putting together a neo-prog covers project with my guitarist mate @Witters. I thought it'd be hard to find personnel but he already has keen interest from a drummer and a keys player. We're thinking Porcupine Tree, It Bites, Quantum Pig, Fish, Frost*, Steven Wilson, Hogarth-era Marillion... I'm quite excited by this.

Just fitted some shiny new Gotoh GB707 tuners to the Spector, replacing the cheapy no-names that were on there... oh my word, they are lovely.

I never realised how useful fret markers on the side of the neck were until I played a bass without them. Shortscale too. I sound like Les Dawson playing the piano.

Experimental ramp fitted to the Spector. A piece of scrap laminate floor cut to size and sprayed with about a dozen coats of rattle can black and lacquer, and then carpet-taped in place. I'll see how it goes.
