  1. Yes, should have posted them here first, but got caught up in trying to post PDF versions on Facebook (very complicated), so I put images instead on my Neil Murray bass guitarist FB page and got on with other things. I will rectify later, and I hope to add more transcriptions in coming weeks.

  2. Amp & Cab both sold now, thank you for your interest. It's an Ashdown ABM 600 evo iv, in perfect condition and has seen very little use - perhaps half a dozen gigs, probably fewer. The price of £400.00 includes the Roqsolid cover. I can courier the amp as I have the original box and protective foam it came with, but would prefer the buyer to collect or to meet somewhere mutually convenient.

  5. I do 3D printing, and I have Hofners, so I might be able to come up with something. Give me a couple of days to see what kind of 3D file I can come up with... [Terminator] 'I'll be back' [/Terminator]

  6. First a big box arrived after a long wait. I ordered it in October from a Swedish shop. I could have got it faster overseas, but I really wanted the 5 year warranty from the Swedish shop. I know Mesa had some issues previous with their gear... Under some supervision - kind of - from the Very Hairy King of the Basement I unpacked the amp... Then stacked upon the Genzler BA12-3 cabs for a test... /2krE48y]2021-01-12 - MESA 1[/url] by Roger Hedin, on Flickr Well, it sounded as I could expect. Not at all like my Spartan or Genzler amp, but more like a tube amp. It takes some tweaking to get things right, not just set and forget. I like it.

  11. A bit more progress. I've made the scratchplate and headstock plate. The scratchplate still needs pickup openings and screw holes drilling, I'm just about the tidy up the neck pocket part of the plate so I can then fit the neck and put an E and G string on to then mark where the pickups will go. Then cut the openings in the plate, then finally drill the fixing holes. The holes in the the plate that came on it aren't as the original so I'll drill them in the right place as per the pictures posted earlier in the thread. I also made the plate fit the curves of the lower bout better as the one I had wasn't great. The headstock plate is certainly different. I honestly don't know if they all, or indeed any, had this. In some close up pictures it definitely looks like a separate plate covering the headstock. I've made one from the scratchplate material to see what it looks like and I really like it. Why don't more basses have this quirky little feature, kind of like a matching colour headstock but it matches the scratchplate. I've made it so it sits in a few mil from the edge so that you can still see the cream paint. The paint was applied a mil over the edge of the headstock to help with this. I don't even think I need to put any fixings in it as the tuner ferrules and string tree will hold it. I might put two screws in if needed, or maybe just a bit of double sided tape to hold it. I'll decide when the time comes. The pictures are a bit yellow looking, indoor lighting and phone camera. In the flesh it's not quite as gold, more of a brownish tinge. The next thing I need, which looks virtually impossible to find is a headstock badge. I could put a sticker on but it's just not the same. Does anyone know about 3D printing and what would be involved in getting one done? This is the badge, and you can also see the headstock plate.

  16. Not sure how there is any legal threat around the thread but that is not my question. It seems to me it is important to keep this individual above the radar. With the specific thread locked, this drops down and eventually out. How can we make sure that our community is aware (and on the look-out) for him and his activities?

  21. Short sighted comment. Tours etc are often organised at least 9-12 months in advance. There might be no tours in the next 9 months but that doesn't mean people aren't working towards things in 2022 and later....

  22. Hi all I've spent the best part of 3 hours thinning this topic out to what could be considered relevant and uncontroversial comments. To keep this topic readable, please can we just: Keep to reported facts and updates about case progression Don't feel that you have to comment on everyone else's post Cut out the banter - yes it's funny but it just bloats out the topic to make it harder to read and harder to find relevant information Thanks

  24. I have a 5 string SUB arriving tomorrow. It has a Seymour Duncan Alnico pickup and Nordstrand Pre installed and is already strung with D'Addario Chrome flats. I just fancied trying one. If I like it I will likely strip the paint off (all black) and go natural with a tort plate or get all blingy and go metal flake blue with a white plate like this https://www.talkbass.com/threads/mm-bongo-hh-5-marty-bell-refinish-gorgeous.1369256/

  27. I am posting this PDF here for anyone's reference/entertainment, my entire Messenger conversation with Mr Mason regarding Sans-gate. A few things to note: When I mentioned that he had reposted the ad is where I began to get suspicious. Some of you will note the same tracking proof screenshot that you may have received and the same obvious lies and excuses. Some of you may also think I was too polite. When, I began to be suspicious of his intentions and discovered this thread through the FB conversation; I opted for a polite, ignorant, persistent and non-confrontational approach. I hoped this would make it more likely to get my money back. Seems to have worked eventually. You may also notice I called him Mike twice, and Mark at another point. Maybe that's why he kept my money 🤣 You may also enjoy the moment when he agrees it is "unacceptable". Finally you surely will enjoy my genuinely accidental and ironic typo at the end of my penultimate message. ENJOY Mick Mason Chat.pdf

  28. Strangely right now the link to the Fender website page is down, but Andertons sent an email out with the "New for 2021" models that had a boxer bass tucked in the corner. Clicking through to the Anderton's website and yes, lots of nice new Fenders, but again, no Jazz Bass Special! Online, it looks like the basses will be FSR, thus being made in Japan, like the original 80's models. Only one colour at the moment, but boy there's no doubt these will be nice - hopefully as good as the originals (of which I have two of the 80's active versions). Here's the only outlet I can find with decent images: https://www.themusiczoo.com/products/fender-mij-boxer-series-precision-bass-limited-edition-sherwood-green-metallic

  33. This is what the back looks like @Maude You can clearly see the four coils. The switching isn't overly rocket science other than getting the magnet orientation and phasing correct to get the 3 way switch to get those combinations. However, there is a touch of great cleverness in the shape of some tiny resistors on the switch PCB because the one thing these pickups do that most split-coil arrangements (much more common on guitars than basses) can't do, is achieve pretty much equal volume between the 4-coil humbucking option and the 'single coil' (actually two coils) options. In a guitar you generally get a major volume drop when you switch to single coil on a single pickup. These don't - you can play on one pickup and switch between the three options and the volumes are unaffected. Very clever - and exceptionally useful in a live setting. There's discussion on, and a demo of, that at the back end of the Bassbash video on P1 of this thread.

  34. British bands definitely have an allure for European audiences as many of the world's biggest bands came from these islands (from the Beatles to Black Sabbath to the Clash). However, support for live music is stronger in most European countries than in England these days (maybe not so much in Scotland & Ireland) and there are plenty of good bands over on the mainland. UK bands not getting gigs in the EU may well mean more gigs for them. I don't think that the EU wants to exclude British acts, hence the offer in the first place, but it will have to be reciprocal. I wish that UK Govt cared as much...!

  36. Just going to throw it in there... you know that the touring companies that were UK based and hauling gear across the EU for a living are now going to be sat at home whilst an EU company takes over because it's easier for them to cross boundaries... right? It's not just the people on the stage that are impacted...

  37. Please see my post above re. the economic point: any country that shuts down touring musicians whether it's the UK or the EU are simply shooting themselves in the foot. Saving lives is quite rightly the focus and priority for everyone, but I have every expectation that sense will prevail on this issue (as it already seems to be doing here from Lardy's comment).

  38. No. I said that last year it was postponed (obviously due to the pandemic) and this year if it is possible to go ahead we'll probably get over-looked in favour of a band that doesn't need multiple visas and work permits as well as carnets for all our equipment and merchandise.

  42. And look at all the time that was left for all the computer systems - that run the very economy on which the country relies - to be implemented/recoded. Irrespective of the deal, the specifics of the deal were needed 18-24 months ago.

  43. Lol! Give the poor guy a break. Didn't all the naysayers say a trade deal with the EU was impossible in 12 months as the EU took 7 years to agree one with Canada? Well he's got one. That's a pretty decent bit of negotiating in my books. And tbf he may have a couple of other things in his in-tray higher up on his to do list than sorting out visas for currently non-existent tours...

  47. That’s one of the articles talking about it. At the risk of quoting myself and talking about myself in the 3rd person, Cuzzie’s point in reference to death reduction... This is from this article https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4958 Now you can look at the headline reduction figure and make a prediction, or look at the detail as to how they calculated it and assess whether or not it is what is actually happening. It’s human nature to believe the opinion or part of an opinion or statement we want to hear, but unfortunately I am part of the optimism police and i have to critically appraise evidence and figures as part of my job. I predicted the 21-28 day schedule would be elongated, and I also have said that it won’t surprise me if the 2 vaccines are mixed and they say that’s ok - on no evidence of course........ We all want as many tools in our box as possible to fight this, and some protection is better than none, but even the greatest optimism needs some form of realism just as the greatest pessimism needs some optimism
