Hi all, thanks for all the interest/calls and lovely comments. The bass is now sold. Alembic Signature Deluxe MK with Balance K body - figured Cocobolo front and back Red and Amber LEDs 4 string 34" scale Gold plated bridge and nut (22k hard plate) - no need for endless polishing Maple and purple heart neck - ebony board with some quilting (extraordinary - I haven't seen it previously) Abalone inlays Sterling Silver Alembic logo Signature electronics Body is cocobolo facings, mahogany core and maple and purpleheart laminates Heart Omega cut Brass control and battery cover plates Weight is around 9lbs 12 ozs - I'll try to get an accurate weight 2011 build In extraordinary cosmetic condition with no blemishes or marks anywhere. The neck pickup logo was worn when I received the bass but the logo has been replaced and the minor wear to the cover has been polished back to matte. This could probably pass for a new bass. The only imperfection I can find is a tiny lifting of the lacquer adjacent to the nut retaining screw on the headstock (I'm being really picky here). The tone is pure Alembic - bell-like clarity and extraordinary sustain. I've had this set-up with a super-low action (probably too low for most players). The case is in pretty much perfect condition too. Comes with paperwork and strap locks. Pretty close to buying a new bass really. Any questions please just ask. I can provide any images you may need. Socially distanced collection in Manchester is possible. I can ship within the UK or to some overseas destinations but entirely at the buyer's risk and expense (I'd strongly advise insurance to full value). I have good shipping materials. Reason for sale is size. It's too big for me. I'm a short-scale player only and should stop pretending that I can play long-scale. I'm selling for less than I have in the bass. This is known in my circles as the “The JJ Burnel sounding one” its a self-build that started as a cheapie throwabout and took on a life (and a budget!) of its own. All the parts are quality parts and listed as below. The neck is bolted using stainless steel inserts as per all my builds. I am downsizing even the good stuff now because of an (ahem, rather big impending purchase) The skunk neck is lovely, the Northwest Guitar necks are really good first places to start as they don't need much fret dressing, they arrive straight and true and need little truss rod alterations, the body was just a standard P Bass but I had J routs cut. Everything else is a straight ahead Jean Jaques Burnel black bass with the addition of the Hipshot 4 Bridge. Superb low action and is a really really fast player, really quick travel up and down the fretboard. You can hear it as bass & guitar as well (its set up to do both) on all my records from Nazi Furs F*** Off through to (I don't want your) Germs where it really came into its own via a Darkglass Alpha/Omega and my Trace Elliot Stack (now moved on). This body has a couple of dings. One on the horns and a dent in the finish on the back. I have no idea how as I never gigged with this. I only made it last year! Truss rod set is at the base of the neck. Its a stable neck so i dont need to adjust it but I have not notched out access in the scratchplate where the set screw is, I like a tidy looking minimal neck-to-scratchplate look. Yes I do ship. Hi guys, It's with an incredible heavy heart that I am having to sell my workhorse. Without any tours in the foreseeable future and shaky 0 hours contract in supermarkets, I am pushed to sell a bass I have taken years to put together with parts of basses I liked. The result is a unique bass for many reasons. So here it is: THE BODY The body is from an AVRI 58. It has yellowed slightly through the years (I've owned this for roughly 3 years). It was bought new from Guitar Guitar in Glasgow. It is finished in a very thin nitro that has worn in many places. It has many dings and scratches but it hasn't been mistreated. It's been my workhorse for the past 3 years and it shows. Some parts are getting darker due to friction (mostly where the arm rests). The paint has also cracked in the back and there is a bit of paint missing. There is also some less visible cracking that I haven't been able to show on camera. THE ELECTRONICS The middle pickup is an AVRI58 pickup with raised A pole pieces. The bridge pickup is a DiMarzio instead. The position of the bridge pup gives you a pj sound but a slightly fatter one plus it's great to use rest your thumb on it. Lifting the tone knob will result in a series/parallel switch, great if you need some extra meaty sound for pick playing or solos. THE HARDWARE The bridge is from the AVRI58 except for one screw that rusted and it had to be changed. The machine heads are original from the '78 neck. The 3 knobs are just aftermarket and the anodised guard is original from the AVRI58 as well. THE NECK Here's my favourite bit about this bass. It's an original neck from a '78 Fender pbass I used to own. I have owned this for about 10 years and I have played countless gigs on it! The neck is really worn in. The bit behind frets 3-8 has actually worn in slightly but it doesn't affect the feel. The neck also has the classic 70's cigarette burn. I added a tiny anchor in the back as a cute charm. The neck has also worn on the lower part and same for the top. I've had this refretted not too long a go and it has medium jumbo frets. I have also had the nut replaced and it's also now cut for bigger strings, perfect for BEAD tuning. The neck is chunky but not overly chunky and it's a kind of neck that I haven't seen before. It's between a jazz and a pbass but not as wide as a Nate Mendel feelwise. It measures between 40mm and 41mm, hard to give a precise measurement as I don't have a precise ruler. This feature alone makes me wish I could hang on to the bass. Here's a video of the bass in action playing a rather heavy cover of Come Together: Here's some pictures as well: ALL IN ALL I know this bass isn't for everyone but I can assure you this bass has been never mistreated and it has served me well for years in live settings and in studio settings, playing anything ranging from 50's blues to hard rock. Sadly, due to both my bands calling it a day I’m selling off a fair bit of both bass and guitar equipment and this awesome Roquefort blue Sandberg is up for grabs along with my beautiful Ken Taylor (see other listing). It’s in original beat up condition with no modifications, Delano pick ups with I’m assuming a Glock pre that has the usual pull pot for passive/ active eq. It really is a wonderful bass, it plays and sounds wonderful, it balances great on a strap and weighs around 4kgs on our bathroom scales. It comes with a great condition Sandberg gig bag. Sorry to hear you're giving up on gigging @karlfer - I know its $hitt ATM - but I'm sure things will improve some time in the future, and we'll all be playing live again. Also, good to hear you fixed the electrical problem with a Kiogon loom - I'm sure this bass will work fine now. Lastly, this bass looks amazing! MIJ / CIJ Fender basses are superb IMO, and if I didn't have (more than) a full compliment already, I'd be sorely tempted. GLWTS and more importantly - keep the faith good sir

I'm giving up on gigging, it's been almost 8 months, I've lost the need, so selling a good bit over the next couple of weeks. I withdrew this a few weeks back as there was an electrical problem. It now has a custom Ki0Gon loom with 2 x CTS 250k pots, Sprague NOS 0.1 cap (for vintage tone) & Switchcraft jack. Original, non working loom included. Frets have just been polished. The White (yuk) scratchplate has some vinyl over the top in black marble. Not the greatest job, but ok from more than a couple of feet away. It will peel off leaving no residue if buyer chooses to do so. 2004, alder body, maple neck, rosewood board. Nut 40mm (same as a Nate). 9lb 3oz, nice low to medium action. Comes with basic Ritter gigbag. Small chip on bass side of neck, 7th fret, which I can't feel when playing. Otherwise very good condition. These are uncommon basses in UK/Europe. For sale is my Ken Taylor in trans-blue. It’s in great condition, having an active 3 band eq with a switch to use it in passive mode and a splitter for the humbuckers. It all works as it should, sounds and plays great it’s the flame in the ash body really making it pop. The back of the neck has had the lacquer removed ala Musicman professionally a few years ago by Joe at Joes Guitars in Birmingham and it feels very slick. The strings are NYXL.45-105’s and still feel great due to lack of use. Weight is just over 9lb. I’ll let the pics do the talking now but if you have any questions please ask.
