In the last 5 years I've only seen 2 like this for sale. 100% original down to the last screw and in wonderful condition. Amazing neck. Really great growl. 9lbs 10oz in weight so not stupid heavy..... Viewing welcome and recommended. Very collectable bass. Plenty of photos available of all the pots et cetera, on request. Never thought I'd sell this but you all know how it goes sometimes. Any questions or further requests, fire away/ Based in sunny Swindon. SN14LW Anybody welcome to come over and have a play and behold this serious instrument. I'd be happy to take a couple of instalments for the bass, if that helps. Tradewise, I’m gassing for a Rickenbacker....... Happy viewing,4 points

Played the first gig with my new band tonight,my first gig in 10 years! We only played for 20 minutes opening a charity boxe event, in front of about 200 people. During our second song my bass strap fell off and somehow I managed not to let the bass fall. Apart for that and too many mistakes, I guess it went well. Looking forward to the next.3 points

It has an Eminence Deltalite II 2512 driver (120 quid at Blue Aran), which is what most makers use in their price point neo loaded cabs, so yes, the price is insane, even in the US, where the street price is $799.3 points

Haha yep, it’s 25Kg with the amp. Paul from zilla just got back to me, it’s complete and he’s done an excellent job; the oval window on the front looks excellent in tolex, and he’s put a good sized square window out back too. The V8 style 3-handle arrangement looks perfect! Now all I have to do is touch up the black paint on the head in a couple of places, mount the V4 badge on the front grille and she’s ready for some action again thanks for your help on here guys, much appreciated.3 points

You could just cover the Markbass steel grills with speaker cloth of your choice. It'd be far cheaper than changing cabs - unless you're looking for an excuse to change? Frank.2 points

I would spend your money on lights instead - your missus is gonna be furious when she spots that you've pinched her standard lamp from the front room2 points

At the LBGS I looked at their prices and laughed. £1750 for a 4x10?!! Which was 5 times more than the Peavey 4x10 a couple of stalls down. Their pedal prices were beyond stupid as well. It makes Westside Distribution price gouging us on Mesa gear look reasonable. Pfft. Jog on.2 points

They're aware. Aguilar is a small company, with a business model of selling small numbers of high priced goods rather than larger numbers of lower priced goods. They price their gear with the intent of attracting those who perceive high prices to equate with high quality, and there's no shortage of those. This cab won't work any better than one of the dozen or more other cabs using the same 2512 driver that sell for as little as half what the Aggie does, but so long as Aggie customers are willing to pay their prices they'll keep charging those prices. Can't say I blame them.2 points

Saw this for sale here this morning, it is now my latest acquisition, and very nice it is too. Sounds good acoustically, and surprisingly good through an amp as well. Quite a lot of bass for not a lot of money, I can see this one getting quite a bit of use in its new home.1 point

I kept the other build quite conservative so I thought I’d try something a bit more interesting this time I’m going to be cutting and gluing up the blank tomorrow which might be fun with the offset waist as obviously I want the pine on top to be inline with neck and pickups I don’t know why but I feel this build needs a name but I can’t think of one at the moment suggestions please??............1 point

I can't find any off the shelf but you could easily get one made. Tim at Scratch-It - http://www.originalscratchplates.com/ made a custom pickguard for me, very reasonably priced and I was very pleased with the result. I provided Tim with the pickguard material that I wanted to use along with a pattern and a few days later voila! You can buy single-ply vintage white pickguard material from ebay here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Vanson-315mm-x-240mm-Scratchplate-Pickguard-Material-for-Electric-Guitars/111817601979?var=410802222888&epid=1466518721&hash=item1a08d933bb:g:JPoAAOSw5VFWO7Gi. Just use your existing black pickguard as a pattern.1 point

Had a tiny bit of GAS for an IGB for a while - I'll take 5 at £25 a pop - cheers! Can't shed a great deal of light on this - my Aria Awareness is peripheral to my MIJ fixation & this one, as it says, is Korean. MIJ IGBs are like hen's teeth. BUT - as far as I know, the S prefix should indicate Samick as the manufacturer - and a quick Goog suggests that this is probably from May 1996: http://samick.wikia.com/wiki/Serial_Numbers Hope this helps.1 point

No doubt Bassassin will be along to correct me. The £25 has just registered!!! Bloody hell!1 point

They behave like that because they know people will not intervene. If after they threats what they get is the other people around them stand up and mob them out, they'd think twice next time. Same reason why two idiots in a bus can make a trip a nightmare for 30 or more people travelling along. If one person stands up, they rarely get back up. They act like bullies because we let them. I almost end up fighting an idiot behind me in the cinema. Nobody stood up for support and both of us almost got kicked out. It was only at the end that an older couple intervened and told the cinema staff who was the trouble, and the idiot and his two mates were expelled (while making noise and throwing their drinks around). It frustrates me no end that collectively we allow a small minority spoil it for the rest, when we have it in our hands to stop the bad behaviour, and it would not require any violence at all.1 point

I've also been following your posts on Facebook about the tour, Paul - great stuff. Good to see you on Basschat too!1 point

I still think of that episode in TV's Shoe-string that sort of broke her into the punk scene, well, Glam Punk. A form of product placement i guess - always fancied her since then. Just found it on the Tube But very sad - Story is about the Bass player who gets thrown off the Pier Maybe that's why i subliminally took up playing the bass, she was looking for a bass player.1 point

But the tiny hamlet of Barnoldswick near Burton-in-Lonsdale (further north, but also very close to the border) is called "Barniwig". Or it was when I were a lad.1 point

Just finished making the final templates for this so won't be too long before I get building. There are quite a few templates for this build - I haven't included the pickup cut out as that will be done later when the pickup choice is finalised (or I build more than one with different pickups....). So here's the template set for this build all made from mdf1 point

I have no problem with difficult venues, its not possible sometimes to get a good sound everywhere. My problem is with sound guys making the BD the overwhelming sound in the whole mix, for every band on the bill, and making it sound like a sub explosion. That is deliberate.1 point

Not leaping to the defense of sound engineers here: some are certainly better than others. But here’s a fun little test you can try at home... Play a song you know well over your hi-fi, if you have one. And what the heck, play it loud. Now walk around the room, pause and listen to how the sound changes: boomy bass in some places; weak bass in others. Now imagine trying to control that on a grand scale, in a room where no investment has been made on acoustic treatment. It’s just not possible; and there will always be parts of the room/venue where the sound will suck. And it’s always sucked. We just hear the ‘suck’ more as we get older, because we’re less drunk/ more experienced/ discerning/ fussy/ whatever. I remember seeing Motörhead when I was 18 years old. It was an indiscernable wall of noise and I loved it; but I wouldn’t tolerate more than 10 minutes of it now. Yes, some live enginneers need a good talking to. But there’s only so much you can do with bad acoustics. And even purpose-built music venues often have major flaws in their design. If you want great acoustics, go take a seat at a grand old theatre or opera house and give your ears a treat. If you want to swing your pants, be prepared to compromise on the sound... most of the time. Thus it has always been,1 point

You have been spoiled! Most preamps have no low battery warning. Some just go dead and can leave you high and dry mid-song. With others the sound quality deteriorates shortly before it dies. Either way always have a spare battery to hand! I put a bit of masking tape on the battery cover and mark the date when the battery was last changed. That at least gives me some idea of when the next change is going to be due. If you have (or can add) an active/passive switching option so much the better.1 point

I went to the snooker at the Barbican years ago, because it was sponsored by Travis Perkins the entire front row of seats was made up of people made to go to fill up the seats, they sat there bored as nice old ladies that had paid good money struggled to see over their heads.1 point

With a new plastic nut costing less than £10 it's not worth arguing. Parking outside a good solicitors will cost you more than that.1 point
-
It looks like your new strings may be fatter than the slot in the nut, unfortunately this can happen if you don't open the slot with a suitable needle file prior to fitting new strings.1 point

The wattage of the VT Bass 200 is about 150 watts with its internal speaker. With an 8 ohm extension speaker it's 200 watts.1 point

Seriously basic and old school rig for a Ceilidh last night. Gear4Music precision copy, Carlsbro X100 PA head and a Carlsbro A112 PA cabinet. Sounds OK for occasional use and has the upside of the total rig having cost about £60 Andy1 point

Six digit serial numbers date from the 70s, covering '71 through '80. Seven digit serial numbers date from the 80s, covering the period '81 through '90. The first digit gives the year. Yours is a seven digit, starting 7, making it a 1987. There weren't many models in the XRB series, but what ones were manufactured appeared between '87 and '89. To the best of my knowledge these were manufactured in Japan, although Aria did move a large portion of its production to Korean at this time, '87 onwards.1 point
