  1. If Michael Jackson had to say anything about this app he would have said: "THIS IS IT!" I can't even remember how I practiced and transcribed bass lines before I had this puppy. BassTheWorld is giving away £7 worth of Anytune In-Apps in their Anytune BassTheWorld Edition. If you have an iPhone or iPad don't miss it. How to get the free BassTheWorld Edition is explained at the end of the video https://youtu.be/PY7yqqIDaHc

  2. Is this Mr Wimbish I've spotted playing with this (relatively) obscure German band? By the way - If you are into obscure German dance music (or even if you're not), check out Schiller's version of Ultravox's Vienna that they performed as an encore at their Symphonia concert with a full orchestra and a Scottish bloke that used to have a dodgy moustache and even dodgier sideburns.

  3. Looks like you cant beam the existing Spectracomp tone prints to the Spectradrive. Only the ones designed specifically for the Spectracomp built in to the drive. So far thats just one. Not deal breaker for me, and im sure TC will add more now that the SD is out. A guy on TB has two, and has posted his findings. So far, its a very clean pre amp, the stock OD is horrible (the Natural tone print is a huge improvement though), and the output is very loud. These were just day one, bedroom level testing though. Mine should be hear on Monday, Ive got a rehearsal Monday evening so im hoping to give it a good run.

  8. On a more serious note there is a trend in modern music where an upcoming swear word is telegraphed by the rhyming structure of the lyrics but the word itself is partially obscured, so for example you only hear the initial 'f'. If you listen to Radio 1 for any amount of time you'll hear a few of them. I always wonder what the point is. Much like writing s**t. People just automatically fill in the blanks for themselves. Hence the unfortunate misunderstanding at my f**k music night. I'll never forget the disapointment on their faces as I launched into 'This Land is Your Land'.

  11. Just picked up a Little Marcus 800 from Sandy at GBBL, and I have to say the EQ is a revelation! It's quite different to the original Little Mark EQ: EQ1 ULTRALOW at 65Hz, instead of the LM's LOW at 40Hz LOW at 180Hz, instead of LOW MID at 360Hz MID at 500 Hz HIGH MID at 1.4 KHz, instead of HIGH MID at 800Hz HIGH at 3.8 KHz, instead of HIGH at 10kHz EQ2 OLD SCHOOL: Variable LOW PASS from 20KHz to 200Hz, slightly deeper than the 250Hz base on the VLE MILLERIZER: 5-12 KHz BAND PASS Filter (essentially a treble boost only), which is very different to the VPF "mid scoop" You can footswitch between no EQ/EQ1/EQ2/both EQ, which gives at least four shades of tone straight off the bat: really nice to use the EQ1 on its own and then switch in the Millerizer on EQ2 for a little top end sheen. I think the EQ is much more usable as it closes that big gap between High Mid and High on the LM, and it sounds really full and meaty. I like it a lot.

  14. Hello everyone! Here is my Harley Benton Jazz Bass kit build from Thomann. I got it at Christmas and have never found the time to put it together until a couple of days ago. It took me about an hour and a half get it sorted, apart from some sheilding paint in the pickup/control cavity done earlier this week. It's light, a touch over 6lbs. Nice and easy on the back! The neck fits like a glove in the pocket and I really like the feel of the neck. It's held it's tune really well over the last few days. The pick guard holes are a bit off, this means I haven't been able to put all the screws in. The pickups sound nice, the circuit is solderless so was a piece of cake to assemble. I haven't tried it out at full volume yet in a band situation, but first impressions through my Hiwatt practice amp are that it is astonishly good value for money. The Thomann site today lists it at £76. The headstock needs shaping, I will probably put a KiOgon wiring kit in and some different pickups. Great fun so far! I'll try post some sound clips later.

  15. At the gig in Glasgow on Friday they received an excellent response from the crowd. Whether or not they re-enact early Zep didn’t rally seem to matter to the crowd who were all roaring them on. The crowd was a right good mix of young and older, male and female (and one really annoying drunk/drugged couple). I’m all for them developing their take on vintage rock music that they grew up with in their farming community north west of Detroit. Hopefully their management allows them to go their own way. If you are annoyed by soundalikes I’d bet The Second Sons would annoy the hell out of you. They have a certain Rolling Stones thing going on, but are excellent entertainment, excellent musicians and they connected with the crowd in a way I haven’t witnessed for years (to me, doing this far more successfully than GVF on the night). They bring in other influences too and thoroughly put their own stamp on it.

  17. Came across this band by accident on YT recently. Have to be honest with you, I find it a bit mystifying why young people would want to ape the sound of Led Zeppelin's first album fifty years after the event. This band is the musical equivalent of those historical re- enactors who play at being in the olden days.It would be easy to be scathing of these kids, but I'm sure their hearts are in the right place. Personally, I blame the parents. As with most nostalgia, this music is hankering after a golden age that in reality wasn't that golden. The great irony is that these youngsters are looking backwards at a time when "progressive" music was all about looking forwards, being experimental and original and creating new forms.

  22. I'll be coming to the bash with my wife and kids as I did last year. My wife drops me off with the kit then takes the kids to the coast. We've changed car since last year (had a Zafira then, which you can fits loads into) so I've just tried to see what I can get in the boot of the new car. Bit disappointing as I can't get everything I wanted to bring in it. But then I had an idea. It's only about 90 mins from home so this should work for that short time as I can fit more kit on the back seats. Problem solved. See you Sunday!

  24. Sadowsky Standard 4 String #7317 Specs: Body: Mahogany / Master grade flame maple top Neck: Roasted flame maple / Madagascar rosewood Weight: 3.62 kg! Since I've swapped original pickups with custom Nordstrand nj4sv-bc (they are humcanceling single coils in soapbar covers with staggered pole pieces for 12'' radius) I thought that it would be nice to take fresh pictures of this beauty, still gorgeous and in mint condition With bass of course comes original Sadowsky Soapbars which is 15 minutes work to swap if you like them better Bass like this costs 6300$ at Roger's shop + almost a year wait + VAT, shipping etc. + you can't get something like this from NYC anymore. For example on thomann.de, similar specs Sadowsky's are around 7000 euros. Bass comes in original Sadowsky case, also like new. All case candy included of course, and fret protector. I will put inside the case Sadowsky Comfort strap (size S) like a little gift. Money via Transferwise or Bank transfer. PayPal is bad lately to my experience. Price is 3400 euro. Kind regards. Luka

  28. £650 Selling my Mesa D800, it's in perfect working order and comes with the Mesa bag. Cosmetically there are 2 tiny little imperfections in the finish (last 2 pictures) I don't have the box but I do have the manual, I have various sturdy boxes and plenty of bubble wrap for shipping though. This for me is by a distance the best class d I've tried, I genuinely love this amp so much so I sold my first and with in a month bought another and sold its replacement. The only reason this is going is I fancy giving my self back problems and want an SVT. Price includes UK shipping I'd be open to trades for an SVT with a cash adjustment of course.

  33. I was at the GVF / Second Sons gig at the O2 Academy in Islington last night. Both bands performed brilliantly, and elicited a great response from the packed audience. GVF in particular received a rapturous response throughout. As @Thunderpaws says about Glasgow, the audience demographic in London was a complete mix - males & females from late teens through to your mature rock fans, and all points in between. Sam Kiszka's bass (and keyboard) playing was most excellent, Josh's vocals were pretty close to album quality and I do like his style, although it was impossible to understand his rambles between songs. I found Jake's guitar playing perhaps a bit limited during their longer wig-out sections on a few of the songs, but otherwise he was good. I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out the Hammersmith Odeon (or whatever it's now called) by the time they return to UK shores.

  35. The user download folder is the main one that all apps should use by default - even your browser would. If you reconfigured your browser to use a different location then that would only apply to that browser. The proper way would be to move your download folder: - go to C:\users\username - right-click downloads and view properties - go to Location tab and hit Move This will move your files onto another drive if need be and update all the pointers to it so that other apps that try to use your proper download folder will use the new location also.

  37. +1 Swearing is only effective if it's used sparingly. In certain genres it isn't, and just becomes tiring and pointless. I feel one should be able to deliver totally devastating lyrics without it, but of course that takes a bit of thought. F*CK Y'ALL, B*TCHES!!

  39. Gold is good, but better with maple. Tort is only good if it's good tort, which it won't be unless you spend proper money. In my humble view (as arbiter of good taste for the entire forum) - a very fine choice would be mint green. I HAVE SPOKEN!!

  41. Swearing has its place and imo should only be used for dynamic effect to express anger, desperation etc and when used correctly enhances the art (whether it be music, literature or acting). However, the absolute drivel coming from r n b has completely unarmed its effect. For example i was setting up at an event the other week and the staff had a r n b cd on and most contained pointless swearing. One in particular was just a slow drivel of a beat and obviously nicked bassline with the vocalist just going something like "i work hard for my money, every mother fxxxxing day" repeated for about 10 minutes. Pointless to have swearing in there. Pointless to have that particular phrase in there. Pointless. I nearly cut the wires on the speakers. Im no prude and im not against swearing, but gees, this generation has lost the plot when it comes to swearing and its use.

  47. I`m unclear as to why there are PA speakers at stage-rear - backline for on-stage sound, PA for out front sound, monitors so band can hear vox. Don`t see the point of this. Can see why you might use 4 speakers out front, two floor standing, with two on poles/stands immediately above, but stage-rear makes no sense to me.
