  1. You realise everybody else is discussing this casually and you're the one who's overreacted? I would have a think about that before labelling anyone a snowflake.

  2. +1 I get just a little bit fed up with this idea that cause ur disabled the world owes you a ton of everything. I have a mildly debilitating neurological condition which is very difficult to explain, do I keep on about it.....nope, I get on with it and there are days when its so bloody difficult I just wanna lay on the sofa and to hell with it all, but you dont cause life goes on and waits for no-one so you compensate as best you can and keep going.

  3. /\ This. Some people simply like to moan, about everything. Also, its funny how it got straight into the press and an interview. 15 minutes of fame anyone. Respect to the organisers, they did all the could, and more, and are still taking flack.

  5. I think so. An alternative would be 18 1v batteries, but it might make the basses too heavy.

  6. The great thing about building your own guitars is that you lose the fear of changing things A couple of times, friends have gone pale - after agreeing with me that something might be maybe shaped a little differently - when I immediately get out the rasp file and hack into the gleaming beauty, there and then. "Something like that?" I ask, as they sway from the shock. Well - I'm just about to do the same here. Having played this myself over a couple of days, and having just watched someone whose objective opinion I greatly respect play it, I'm going to get the micro-plane rasps out tomorrow and create some sawdust This is what it looks like at the moment: And this is what I think it should look like: Yes - it's subtle but I think it will make a big difference to the playability. In summary - Slightly deeper cutout at the top horn. The contact I watched play is - a bit like me - a lazy-thumb player. That is, his thumb stays in the 'wrap-round' position even when he's playing the higher frets. And when he's playing the highest frets, he anchors his thumb round the cutout. In terms of my own playing (I rarely venture that high playing lead...makes my nose bleed) there is one number where I have to play barre chords with a capo on the 8th fret. It is possible with this guitar as is, but it would be a lot more comfortable with another cm of hand space Slightly deeper cutout on bottom horn. No real benefit to me, but same logic to a 'proper' lead player Slightly further rearward lower waist. This guitar, as is, is GREAT on the strap...but, for me, it's just not quite right played over the knee. I was interested to see exactly the same when my contact played it It will only take 1/2hr to make the changes, but it will then, of course, need refinishing. But that itself is an opportunity because I'm going to give the Gloss version of the Osmo one more go - but applied closer to how it is supposed to be applied than how it's been applied above. This, of course, means a complete strip-down but what the heck - what else am I going to do in the evenings?! Oh...just to add. My contact runs a very successful guitar and music shop and - with me allowing maybe a smidgin of smugness to creep in - I feel obliged to mention that he loved the neck profile and feel. Took a while to get my swollen head through the shop door back onto the street

  7. A much-needed presence who cut through the cynical bullcrap of the music business. And unlike so many others, he never sold out. He was grotesque, totally unique and his like will not be seen again.

  8. It looks like the promoters did what they could, offering the free carer tickets was a nice gesture in my view, then providing an actual interpreter is a massive gesture albeit forced by the legal threat. Do they provide a carer to help people with mobility issues in or out, or just a free carer ticket, etc? For the mum to then moan about no interpreter for the support acts is a bit too much for me. It's not like it was a festival where every act is a knockout, the support would have been some never-will-be act or x factor rejects I bet.

  10. @Dan Dare Many young people are into Little Mix and all that comes with it, so why should a deaf person not be able to enjoy the experience of seeing them, seeing the show, being part of the crowd etc. It's the difference between saying "I was there, I loved it" or not. I'm sure you'd agree that anyone should be able to enjoy an experience, regardless of how you think music should be enjoyed, or whatever disability they have. @NancyJohnson Loads of deaf people go to gigs. Many blind people / vision impaired enjoy films too using audio descriptions, so they can either go with mates or enjoy the experience and sound, Odeon do it. For some people being disabled means that they are generally less engaged as they have less opportunities than non-disabled people, so enjoying a film that way, or going to a gig, is no less a meaningful experience that it is for those who are non-disabled - it's just different. The medical disability model says that the disability itself disables people, the social model says that restricted access is what really disables people - as do people's lack of empathy. It's sad that some people just don't get it, but then that's why disability campaigners have to fight so hard.

  11. Read the full story and the organisers did a lot, sorted the main event, free upgrade, offer of free carer tickets, access to private toilet facilities etc. As a passionate supporter of disability rights I find this a bit frustrating. Unless there is something being missed by all the media, which is possible, then it seems to be someone looking for an angle to moan at. I truly hope that isn’t the case as it’s been a hard slog to get rights for the disabled and it only takes a few freeloading idiots to spoil it for everyone.

  13. I’ve been looking for a cheap bass to take to the various festivals and some rather dodgy venues my band is booked into over the coming months. If we’re the only band playing and I can see my gear all night I’m quite happy to take good gear, but I have some very nice basses which I don’t really want left in a room full of gear with people coming and going all day. Anyway I was looking to get a squire having heard some good reviews about the Indonesian models however I ended up getting a used Overwater by Tanglewood Classic J for £120. I put some new strings on and took it to practise last night and we were all mighty impressed, some proper bang for your buck with these, very nicely finished and a good punchy sound, very nice indeed. The only criticism I would have is that this is a PJ model and the P pickup is quite a bit louder than the jazz, although it’s probably a set up issue which I can easily sort. amazed at what you can pick up for £120

Very lovely, I'm sure you will agree.

As such, they’ve been moved into the new “Legacy” subcategory within the Reverb category Helix's tempo no longer responds to pressing TAP at tempi lower than 40.0 BPM (Beats Per Minute). This is to ensure that multiple fast tap entries are recognized properly, as previously, they could be seen as one really slow tap entry. You may still manually select a tempo all the way down to 20.0 BPM and your presets can still be saved with tempi down to 20.0 BPM—just touch TAP and turn Knob 6 (BPM)

  18. As I understand it, the mum was kicking up a stink and all ready to sue Little Mix when they changed their minds and actually provided a signer/etc. However she is gripping onto the case by her fingernails and noticed that the supporting acts weren't signed, so is now suing based on these. To me, it sounds like she just wants attention/"her day in court", I can foresee her losing her court case - badly - and ending up with egg on her face.

  19. those lyrics were written down by Knopfler, almost verbatim from a conversation he overheard, as such he is singing in character. Changing the 'offensive' lyric, not only detracts from the ire towards the person being sung about, but also changes the person being sung about (80's American hair metal type). IMO of course

  21. Current project on breadboard. Not so much an effect per se, at least not yet... but certainly related! Arduino Micro controlling 0.96" 124x64 OLED display, quad digital pot chip and 4 status LEDs. Inputs from single rotary encoder (with push switch) and 2 momentary footswitches. Foot switches are notionally for bypass and selection of presets. LEDs for bypass state and current/next preset indication. OLED display for preset indication and menu structure for modifying and saving presets to Arduino EEPROM using rotary encoder for navigation. All sorts of possibilities with this!

  22. Strange really, from my own point of view, as a friend of mine recorded a fantastic jazz/rock album in the 80's ( i still have it ) and he used a 4003 and the sound was ace. You'd think i would have one I really hate the look, though. Not a fan of chunky necks either. I sacked an ex girlfriend for the same problem

  23. So if for some medical reason I couldn't drive could I expect the promoter to provide and pay for a taxi both ways? And a real case: I really don't like opera, but it may be that I haven't had the correct education. Would the promoter please supply a qualified tutor to talk me through the performance so that I can fully appreciate it and get the full experience? There was a local case a few years ago where a small museum was told it had to install a lift for disabled people. It couldn't afford this and decided to close. So now nobody can visit. 95% of the population deprived for the sake of 5%. Society should take account of disabled people (although I'm not sure we can call them disabled anymore!!), but not be dictated to by them. I'm a bit grumpy topday because I normally vent myself over Private Eye (my wife calls it my Mr Angry magazine)on a Wednesday evening, but for some reason it didn't arrive yesterday.

  25. Focusing on a small, thus minority, group of people is exactly what Anti discrimination legislation is designed to do. If we didn’t there wouldn’t be wheelchair viewing areas or disabled bogs. This isn’t a “deafness at a gig” issue, this is just a “deafness” issue. We don’t get to get to decide whether deaf people should be allowed to try and enjoy something, even if a hearing person thinks it’s useless. The legislation also references changes that are practical. So for those worrying about open nights or 50 punter pubs having to do this - they won’t. But a big arena show with well resources promotors will have to. As for signing ruining the show for hearing customers, what do you suggest? A separate night for the deaf? Not enough local deaf people in a particular location so do it in a smaller venue with a less impressive stage show at a higher ticket price? That really treating deaf people the same. Swap deaf people for wheelchair users and see how repugnant that would be. Raised platform at Download for wheelchair users ruins an able bodied persons view? So what? I’m loving the value judgments based on the quality of Little Mix lyrics. Never gave a thought about a deaf 8 year old wanting to enjoy the same things as their friends to feel part of the gang? Are you really judging whether the request for a signer is valid based on whether YOU like the artist? Really? I’m betting everyone on here has more than 1 embarrassing CD in their music collection. I fully support the woman taking this action. It won’t affect the grass roots at all and she is not a chancer. All she wants is for deaf people to be treated the same. Good for her.

  27. When I read this story earlier today, I did kind of think, 'Where does this correctness end?' What about a blind person who buys tickets for an art exhibition or a film? Yes, it's tragic this woman is stone deaf, but surely you makes your choices, deaf, blind, disabled, whatever, don't you? I'm all for equality...I'm struggling for the words here, but if I was deaf, I wouldn't have bought tickets, let alone be inclined or even know how to instruct a solicitor to take action. Going back to my 'Where will it end?' comment, where does it end? Bands playing in pubs?

This image you're looking at is printed on bog standard A4 and really need to be seen in a bigger format, but you probably get the idea. Any criticism welcome...

  30. Great german made Sandberg TT4. Very nice high quality instrument, at least on par with usa Fender. It has been very well built with the use of high quality components only. Fit and finish are excellent. This is the newer design of the TT4, which is less styled like a fender jazz. The bass plays and sounds great. It's playability is great, it plays very easily. the neck has a great feel as it has a satin finish. The TT4 can be used active as well passive, with a wide variety of sounds possible. It weighs between 3,9 and 4,0 kg on my kichen scale. It's in near new condition with just a few usermarks to be found. No case or bag included. Asking price: £950 I would be interested in a nice trade offer as well . Im mainly interested in: fender 60s style jazz, rickenbacker, musicman (preferably early 90s with lacquered neck, no oil finish) 2eq....Other traditionally styled (fretless) basses, fretless, effects... The sandberg is located in the Netherlands. Registered shipping within europe should be no problem, with the neck seperated from the body. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

  31. Very reluctant sale but needs must and it is just too heavy now for my poor back! This is a Made in Vietnam version from around 2012. This lovely piece of kit had a shaky start and kept cutting out. After much politics and conflab it was a agreed that as a gesture of goodwill that it would be completely rebuilt for me at Ampeg's expense. The rebuild was done by the legend that is Stan at Surrey Amps and all the best components fitted to Heritage specs as a gesture of goodwill. Since then it has never let me down, but it really hasn't been used since about 2014 then in 2015 I had a slipped disc in my neck which retired it. It's been sitting here in my office ever since and I keep looking at it and thinking "One day I'll treat myself.." but that day never comes. It's in great condition and comes with a flight case. £850.00 **NO TRADES PLEASE** Obviously this will need to be a pickup only item. I am based in Horsham, West Sussex. 32. Up for sale is my precious, ever reliable Mesa Boogie 400+. Just a fantastic amp, loads of power in a fairly lightweight package for a valve amp. I use this alongside the Mesa old skool 80s flightcased Diesel Powerhouse cab It really hasn't been used since about 2014 then in 2015 I had a slipped disc in my neck which retired it. It's been sitting here in my office ever since and I keep looking at it and thinking "One day I'll treat myself.." but that day never comes. Been ultra reliable and flightcased (included in sale) ever since I owned it. **NO TRADES PLEASE** I am based in Horsham, West Sussex and suspect this may be a pickup item. 37. If you’re unsure then change it. What do they currently sing? I’m personally of the opinion that there’s no such thing as ‘political correctness’. What there is is respect and good manners, and not saying something that may upset someone else. Just the way I personally was brought up.

  40. If I play an open E, it glitches to the octave above after about 1.5 seconds. If I play the same note on the low B it can hold the lower octave for several seconds. Open strings have more upper harmonics since your finger isn't in contact with the string, it's those that confuse the tracking as it can't tell if you're playing an open E or an E at the twelfth fret, so it bounces up and down trying to lock onto the note.

  44. Reliability of Markbass is well up there, and the Ninja is no different! The Ninja heads have masses more headroom so just feel bigger and more "open" sounding, but the same essential tone character of the Little Mark III. Regarding usability, many Markbass users leave all tone controls at virtually 12 O'clock and as M@23 said, do all they need with the filters. VLE - Vintage Loudspeaker Emulation (or James Jamerson knob as I like to call it!) and VPF - Variable Pre-shape Filter (which is a mid scoop), so yeah, pretty easy to find your tone really!
