NPD (Danelectro Cool Cat Metal & Cool Cat Metal II)
Baloney Balderdash replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Effects
So I finally got yo try these two pedals out. And The Cool Cat Metal sounded absolutely terrible, and not in any possibly good way, like someone cranked the bass control of their amp and the speaker blew, and to add to that the stacked knobs are near impossible to operate as they will turn together, and the way the are located doesn't help that fact, just an all together horribly bad and absolutely useless pedal, to such a degree that I wonder if mine actually works as it is supposed to. Not exaggerating when I say this is possibly the worst pedal I ever had the displeasure of playing through. The Cool Cat Metal II however is an entirely other beast and sounds pretty f***ing amazing! As you can read above allegedly it is based on a Metal Zone, but heavily modded, and with the entire tonestack scrapped, and replaced for just a Hi/Lo mids swith, which thoug can also be turned Off completely, and this is where this pedal really shine, like a much tighter, ballsier and punchier Metal Zone, just sounds incredible, and works extremely well for bass. -

Where we’re at is backline levels equal to acoustic drums. Drummer, singer/guitarist, fiddle player all use IEM to help them hear their instrument/voice clearer. Second guitarist/bv uses a floor wedge. I vary between backline only, hearing protection (ACS custom moulds) or IEM (Sennheiser 100’s and Xvive U4) depending on the gig. If the room means drums and particularly the cymbals are painfully loud then I’ll go either ACS or IEM. But as I mix the live sound from the side of the stage, I’m always nervous about going IEM and potentially missing something with the FOH mix. If we have the luxury of provided PA and engineer, then I’ll go IEM every time.

Hope it's OK to mention here but a few of my basses will be available to buy at the bash, specifically: Epiphone Korina Explorer Harley Benton HB-50 (prototype, not available to buy yet) Soloking MJ-1 Classic (Fender Roscoe Beck inspired) Special deals for people helping lighten the load on the way back up the road - and save yourself postage from Aberdeen! They will get listed up on BC after the bash but I thought I'd give yous first refusal...

Played mostly in four piece bands so always stood left side of drummer as you face band but I’m now in a five piece band with two guitarists. Which is the better side to stand and why ? I see many five piece bands with bassist on right side as you face band

Leo never thought P and J could cost that much.

And the nice thing about the Boss LS-2 is that it has individual volume controls so you can then tailor your mix of clean and drive to suit. Could be a neat solution for the OP in fattening his sound with minimal loss of low end? IME low-end suck with bass drives, resulting in "less" bass in the mix is something I've often found I've had to guard against in a live mix.

I've been using the songsterr android app for occasionally incorrect tabs but recently it's stopped scrolling the tab as it plays. Any ideas what I might have done wrong?

Jeez what an abomination! Noticed at the bottom of the page that the Nate Mendel P is over £1,400 and a JMJ Mustang is almost £1,300 new 😮

That Doc Lloyd looks class. Always fancied the Effectrode one but he’s taken it up a notch. How is it?

Over £1,000 now. Whats peoples best guesses on the eventual price? -
Yep and I’ve already learnt a lot from the conversation so far so it’s been really useful. I know everyone has opinions and preferences but gleaning the issues to look for and insights into others thoughts on this has helped so far - thanks all, the research and hunt continues

That's a shame because they do look amazing! Don't suppose she fancies selling it... 🤣

Stack the 15 atop the 4x10 where you will be able to hear it's cries of pain as it fails to keep up with the far more able 4x10.

Yeah I just find he hasn't been responding to my questions with much detail. Asked for more pictures as there's some big looking scuffs on the bottom but he said no with no explanation, seems odd. Almost feels like I'm trying to persuade him to let me buy it at times.

Whatever I was selling I always started my eBay sales at 1 €/£/$ or whatever currency, so nothing weird here. Keeping an eye on it too, thanks @eubassix ! -
True. I'm struggling to imagine another company in a different industry doing anything approaching this good.
