Just a shoutout to David at Retrovibe for making me a custom truss rod cover for my L'il Richard bass. Obviously this was a small job with little if any profit in it but great customer service. Looking forward to buying another Retrovibe bass in the near future.

That's why I've drifted over to Boom Radio . They play the oldies you've maybe forgotten rather than the obvious stuff which gets very tedious. Give it a try.

Always prefer to get to know the unit as much as i can, so not interested in the software side that much. Never used it with Helix or other Xoom products. I’ve always needed to tweak things at gigs so need to know how and do it quickly. I wouldn’t bother with any app in a live situation. I’m pretty quick at picking these things up. I’d be up and running quickly as my needs aren’t too much, plus i already know what i need. Just a few effects with a BDDI running before them.

Not just drummers needing to learn that. I've always worked on the principal that if you never turn it down, you can never turn it back up again and that's a big mistake.

I'd use plugins for guitar, bass and drums and only do the vocals the traditional way. Workflow will be far quicker, the results will be far more consistent too.

The Hulla has been booked to play a wedding anniversary function in Port Eynon on Saturday. We're a 13 piece and the hall is, so I'm told, quite small. I've brought out the headless basses as I know that the space I am allocated will make a full sized bass fairly impractical. I care about my fellow musicians and whilst the occasional 'accidental' tap is sometimes tempting, it's never acceptable. 😃 Fortunately I go through the desk with this band, so no back line to worry about and I should be able to shift the monitor speaker to give me a few more inches as I'm using IEM. The set list appears to be a random list of songs but quite a few are requests from the organisers as they know our full list of songs and have been able to pick and choose. Along with such gems as 'Then I Kissed Her', 'Running Bear', 'Sweet Caroline' and 'Mary Lou' we have 'Get Your Rocks Off', 'I Fought the Law' and 'A Town Called Malice'. We cater for all tastes! Trussrod is here and side dot material is in transit. This afternoon, I'll fettle the slot to get the new rod to fit snugly. All being well, the fretboard will be refitted before the end of the week.

this can be brilliant - doesn't have to be more though. Can back off and then come back in harder. A lot of drummers think dynamics are all about going louder / more complex than the normal! They need to learn that going quieter and simplifying have just as much a dramatic effect. The late Vinny Paul of Pantera was fantastic at this. Sometimes the guitar and bass would stay absolutely the same through 12 bars and yet every 2 or 4 bars the feel of the tune would be completely different, even to the point that it felt like the tempo had doubled. It hadn't, it was all in the drum arrangement. He really understood how to do that and he backed off just as much as he pushed forward.

It's a thought. Trouble is, that's a lot of bits floating around. But I was thinking that maybe two or three spread over the length of the fretboard...

^^ Yeah, this isn't really a Fuzz pedal (although can go quite high gain), I've used it more as EQ and a low gain/preamp too add 'oompf' (technical term!). 2 band EQ, drive, clean blend, volume boost, with balanced line out (e.g. to mixer) and output (e.g. to Amp), in a tough/reliable Boss compact enclosure that can run from battery. Or, as Boss say "The BOSS BB-1X Bass Driver is a premium stompbox (hence the £159 RRP vs things like the ODB-3 being about half that) designed to make your bass sound bold and punchy. More than just a standard compact bass pedal, the BB-1X is like a preamp, a crucial component in creating quality sound. It captures the essence and subtle nuances of your bass, amp, and playing and emphasizes all their best characteristics."
