  3. Publishing industry editor/writer weighing in to agree with @Burns-bass. There's a distinctive sort of slightly stilted, verbose enthusiasm to how the current generations of chatGPT write. Their prose is like badly written PR/Marketing copy, probably because that's a large chunk of what they've been trained on.
  4. I bought this from BassDirect 19/01/2024, downsizing from separate Head and Cab. I wanted something of quality and having had GR before I was happy, power without weight. However it is unlikely not only will not need the 800 watts, I probably won’t need and Amp, retirement is calling 🤷‍♂️🤫. So, Harry Brand Spankers, used once, this week. The cover cost £60 odd quid ! IMO it’s a bit special, but what do know I’ve only playing bass 62 years 🙄 Here’s the spiel: “The lightest 1×12 active cabinet specific for bass in the world. Despite its size, the AT CUBE 112-350 ACT can support you in all situations, from small concerts to big stages. When combined with a second cabinet you gain versatility and increased power to be suitable for all situations. Ideal also for the double bass (Add an Headway Acoustic preamp HERE or the EBS Stanley Clarke Preamp HERE Connect to the cabinet directly with your active bass or your favorite preamp and enjoy the sound of the GR Bass cabinets. With the AeroTech line, you can have the incredible innovation of our carbon fiber cabinets combined with the Pure Sound of GR, which is the pure sound of your instrument. Incredible sound, lightweight, power, impact resistance, and a beautiful modern design.” Theres more. GRBass AT Cube 112-800 Power 800W RMS (AES Standard) Weight 7 Kg – 14,4 lbs Bass reflex On rear Frequency response 40 Hz to 18 kHz Dimension W40 x D36,5 x H44,5 cm W15,75 x D14,37 x H17,51 inch Speaker 1 x 12″ 8 ohms, custom Jensen/Sica Tweeter Horn Driver 1″ Sensitivity 99 dB SPL Thank for looking PS. I might be tempted on PX with an immaculate smaller combo about 150/250 watts or cab + head .
  5. Finding phase: - connect the pickup to a voltmeter - choose the lowest DC - hit the pickup lightly with a screwdriver - if the voltage goes up, it is in phase
  6. Sound engineer here, have seen many people turn up with various flavours of these things over the years. In my experience, the Boss ones are best avoided, and the TC kit, as with the general consensus in this thread, is far and away the best. I'd also advise moderation, and much like dialling in a multi-effects pedal, often what sounds great in your house/in the shop is probably overkill at gig volume through a proper rig.
  7. Evidently Chickentown - John Cooper Clarke
  8. Best dressed Chicken in Town - Dr Alimantado
  9. Thank you kindly. I have now taken the neck off and refitted it, ensuring the bolts are nice and tight. I also raised the saddle height by two full turns of the saddle screws to be certain that the string 'upwards' of the fifth fret was not being obstructed by a high fret - plus checked clearance across the string whilst being fretted and plucked. Unfortunately, the dead spot is still there, so will now try a set of Boomers as above (current strings are indeed, Swing Bass), and if that doesn't work, I have managed to find a friend with the famous 'Fatfinger'. Thanks to all who contributed thus far. I'll keep you posted as my efforts continue.
  10. £734.00 seems to be the starting price. 500W peak at 4 Ohms, 250 W peak at 8 Ohms.
  11. My first brand new bass, a F Jazz bought in 1981 had this same problem in the same place. Returned it to the local music shop (remember them?) that I bought it from and demanded that they took it back and got me one that worked properly. I had to wait three months but a new one eventually arrived - it played perfectly. The shop assistant apologised and said it was a known problem on that model of instrument - the 'new' bass they sold me had been returned once before, but the manager had told the staff to re-sell it at full price and hope some idiot never played the G string above C... (well, that's perhaps a lot of us, I guess) To tide me over a mate sold me his Hofner President for £20 (about £100 today), a very nice bass indeed.

    Buying old basses

Thanks for the feedback, probably worth waiting for a decent MIG one to come up then. There’s a nice looking fortress one on marketplace but too far to travel and try it for me at the moment and not keen on buying a bass I haven’t played before
  13. Do we know if the MS 60+ talk is Tonelib and Zoom Guitar lab?
  14. I had a bass that seemed to be without a dead spot. I then tried some completely different strings, and the dead spot suddenly revealed itself. When I went back to the original brand of strings, I could notice the dead spot if I really thought about it. Which usually I didn't. And yeah, 5th fret, G string. (The bass: BB424. The helpful strings: GHS Boomers. The unhelpful strings: Swing Bass)
  15. Great amp for lead in the 70’s. Fender, Marshall and Vox all in one.
  16. Oh but the flesh is weak @krispn 😂😂😂
  17. HiBought the great little amp when I should not have done, so back up for sale for what I paid. Fantastic 30 watt valve amp punches well above its weight. Comes in a Flight case warehouse case to keep it nice and snug, collection or meet . ps,jeans and legs not included.
  18. It’s turning out really well! More pics tonight once I’ve fitted the preamp
  19. Shoving it in his face allows me to say "THIS SPEED!" at him and for him not pretend he wasn't aware. If I get a confirmation then I'm part way happy.
  20. It gets bonus points over its guitar equivalent because it has a DI out, the lack of which is very annoying in the event we ever have to use a PA at a gig because of guitarist can never remember the way to get a signal out of it.
