  2. Guitarist in my 3-piece covers band is an excellent rhythm guitarist and also plays pretty mean slide, but he's no sort of lead guitarist and it doesn't bother him. Or us. We play a wide range of pop/rock hits from the 60s/70s/80s and we just leave out the guitar solos. You'd be amazed how few people notice, even when the missing solo is allegedly 'iconic', e.g. Let's Dance.
  3. Love Missile F1-11 - Sigue Sigue Sputnik
  4. Looks real nice... but, There must be something to replace those wood screws mounting the pups? Slight Dome Scratch Plate type screws? and agree with the No Plate look...
  5. I think it isn't a carved joint. It looks more like he stained the wood to match the mahagony body.
  6. Sold an EBS bass chorus to Patrick ,great comms ,easy transaction . Top bass chatter 🍻👍⭐
  7. New bass incoming so will have sufficient packing stuff to post within UK. Not a clue what cost will be but if a deal is to be struck i could absorb the cost within the £625
  8. Damn 🤣🤣🤣 Funnily enough I was just speaking to my brother about this very video the other day (as well as another one where he has another extremely ostentatious Warwick custom, a seven string Corvette IIRC). It's an excruciating watch really, to the point where I almost feel bad for the guy. You can see he just wants to hold the bass and bask in it's implied credibility and the nervousness in him is entirely apparent as it becomes clear he's going to be asked to play it on camera. The interviewer almost seems sheepishly reluctant to ask him to play it and the results are... woeful. I suppose it's a bit like turning up to a track day in a Le Mans car only to find your skills are Miata Cup level (if that). Given that his two basses are probably commissions both well in excess of £12,000 (at a guess), I was interested in seeing who the guy is as he's not a name you see discussed in bass circles. I note his online biography mentions a host of other, more-lucrative pursuits before stating that he is a musician, which may explain that. Outside of Alembic, I can think of a custom shop more expensive than Warwick. Maybe Fodera, but their builds are maybe less 'jewel-like' these days.
  9. I can’t see that happening, none of them will have credit cards to use for food/drinks/toilets/use of emergency exits……
  10. James bought my BF110 and MB Nano rig. He is a scholar, a gent, a cracking Bass player *and* he makes a fantastic cup of tea. Deal with total confidence.
  11. Just shimmed mine and the change in geometry after raising the bridge has definitely improved playability, and got rid of an annoying buzz where the Low E string was vibrating against the head of the nut it passes over at the tailpiece. Without the wiggle stick in place, the tuning seems to be stable so far, but I think I still need to prevent the bridge from rocking in its thimble — some kind of collar around the legs should sort it — anyone who's done this, what did you use and how is it working out?

  14. Hello! I blooming love these basses. I’ve had a few Korean 90’s ones - PJ and JJ and they were great! I snagged this Mats one in a Gardiner Houlgate auction a couple of years ago. £220. Swapped out the pups (which didn’t work) to an EMG 18v set. Sounds mega.
  15. Mine turned up today. Very happy with it so far, but i haven’t plugged a bass in yet. Im really pleased it runs off bus power, works perfectly with my phone. The app might get more use that i first thought, at least for setting things up.
  16. TC Classic 450 Bass Amp in good tidy condition 4 band EQ Tubetone Spectracomp with TC Helicon bag All knobs are intact! Has served me well but fancy a change £225 collected from Oakham LE15 6NP
  17. Great basses for the price point. I've owned 4 or 5 of these over the years, always surprised at how they compete against basses 4 times the price.
  18. I'm not sure I could do it to myself... But the logic is that selling off all my individual pedals will more than cover the cost. I should then no longer have multiple points of potential failure or having to keep buying new effects for a particular sound then selling it to get one I like better, upgrading certain pedals, and the latest problem: volume differences across different pedals. So frustrating.
  19. Yeah, this is what's worrying me as well. I already have the predecessor, but this one's got some extra flashing lights!
  20. Of course he won't, he would be restricted to piano and organ parts then rather than trying to do everything.
  21. If you do, we'll all be waiting for a full review @uk_lefty
  22. As a rule I've sworn off digital preamps. But if AI can make James Hetfield sing Madonna then surely it can make my bass sound like a genuine Ampeg stack coming through a line array p.a. 🤔.
