  1. Past hour
  2. Ahhh nice. Yeah, I really prefer the V body shape as well (or P, if we're talking Fenders). The Martin Mendez is close to my ideal J bass with the specs, body shape and scale length, but the pickup positioning is just a bit too wonky for me.
  3. I couldn't find a JJ pup config on a P style body so I actually had a VS professionally routed for the TT pup config. I can revert the neck pup back to P and have the scratchplate to match.
  4. If you own a double bass you are already deemed as ready by others.
  5. Like @Hellzero I looked forward a fretless Ray34 and drew a blank. Looks brilliant, enjoy it.
  6. Lovely! What is that TT with the V body?
  7. Thank you for your information unfortunately my knowledge is limited…. I’m a late re-starter I dabbled with Bass and Guitar years ago but gave up for years and have started learning again at the grand old age of 64, always liked the Blues and was just dabbling, I would like eventually to learn some walking bass lines but over the Blues I think Jazz is way beyond my skill level at the moment. But trying to learn a bit of Theory.
  8. My Sandberg 'Wall of shame'!
  9. Fantastic pedal, this is the third one I've owned now. Yeah the Modualtion is sweet, probably my favourite part of the pedal.
  10. The female vocalist in a functions band I was in a while back had also been a pro dancer. She just used to drag people off their chairs and get them up dancing. Funniest time was at a rugby club do when she did it to a six-foot-plus prop forward guy much to the hilarity of his mates. There's no way that guy was gonna move so she just wrestled him to the ground - at which point he had to stand up. Lorraine was 5' 5" and no more than 8 stone.
  11. Yeah my SL TT4 is paulownia and def no lack of bass, if anything at rehearsals I have to back off on the lows.
  12. Will take £495 for a quick sale.
  13. Far more ergonomic than my SVT head, given the size and shape. And yes I never gig without my trolley anyway so the weight isn't such an issue
  14. That's a good price from a retailer!! I've had one of these and it was very nice indeed.
  15. I've still got the parts from my original bass (1988) - a Hohner Arbor, which was originally in a flake metallic white. Humbucker at the bridge and a split coil on the front. Wasn't a bad bass, did well with it for a couple of years while I started trying to crank out Iron Maiden 😄 I recontoured the body because I was obsessed with Ibanez's (which I couldn't afford) and it didn't come out too bad, but I didn't seal the body that well and it is a laminate body, so it's got plenty of cracks. Haven't looked at it in years - it's in the loft with the neck(!). The body got a fretless totally flat Warmoth neck on it (a beauty, now lives on a nice allparts body) and it didn't do the neck justice at all for a very long time. Next bass (which is still in one piece) is a beautiful, extremely light 4 string Aria GTB-2J (secondhand from a friend in 1990, IIRC) - ironically also in metallic white. I still have it and it's strung very very light (30-90) for ridiculous slap and tap stuff. Early 90s, I got a Hohner B-bass V, which I put an OBP-3 in several years ago. I still have that too... bought with inheritance from a wonderful grandfather. I couldn't part with it, although I don't play it much at all now: it is wonderfully playable, though. After that, things got a little out of hand (I think I have 15 now...) - but I know it'd be some kind of world-ending event before I sold the Aria or the Hohner.
  16. Thank you. I've tried to glean as much information from the manual as possible but something it's not always clear especially without the actual device in front of me, so there are a few things I wanted to get confirmed before I decide whether or not to buy one. To that end I have a couple of final questions before I add it to my Christmas list: 1. Will the editor work with the latest versions of Mac OS? Compatibility is currently listed as OSX 10.6 and higher which worries me that it will get left behind in the next year or so. For what I want to do I suspect that without the computer editor I'll be completely stuck. Is an Apple Silicon native version being worked on? 2. As it appears that no PSU is applied with the device, can someone recommend a suitable small and reliable PSU to use with it? My only other pedal is the Helix Floor which has its own mains supply so I don't need or want anything big and complex with multiple outputs. Something simple with a mains plug at one end and a 9v plug of the correct polarity (that cannot be changed by mistake) at the other would be exactly what I want.
  17. We didn't practice this week, we started auditioning a new guitarist. It's the first time I've been the other side of the fence, and I was actually quite nervous. Lovely guy, lovely playing. We all found it easy to play with him. Good music theory knowledge (way, way better than my basic understanding). Great sound, he knows how to use the effects he has. I was a little apprehensive when I saw a 212 cab, a Marshall tube power and separate preamp, I thought my hearing was in for a bashing. But no, great tone but at sensible volume... apparently he doesn't do loud. Think we found a keeper.
  18. I just get rid of the cases. If I know I'm keeping a bass "forever" then I sell the case and it lives in the thinnest of Thomann gig bags as essentially a dust cover. That way you can really cram them in. When something leaves the house it goes in one of my two Mono bags.
  19. Bought an Apple watch from Lawrie. Smooth deal, arrived really quickly and even better condition than the photos suggested! Thanks very much Lawrie hope to deal again soon
  20. The AI stuff is obviously polarising and a lot of people understandably won't even listen to it, me included.....until..... I accidentally dropped my phone while listening to Spotify and must have accidentally played this (I assume it was a recommended one) below. I don't think it is a reworked cover, so may be "original" in the fingers of the person that put the parameter in for the AI? Hopefully someone here would know but Google is not bringing up much. I love this track though, sorry!
  21. I've got a V7 Mk 2 in swamp ash / maple - it's a heavy beast, but with a little extra setup I did it's become a go-to bass. The preamp does have plenty of capability of unusable tones, and the sweepable midband is probably way too complex for most, but in terms of playability it's an excellent bass, and as a first 5-string, I'd recommend it. Hardware on that bass is good if it's like mine (it's a 2020 model secured new for what now seems like a ridiculously reasonable £463) - build quality great, and those rolled fretboard sides are incredibly comfortable. The only mod I made was replacing the plastic knobs with silver metal knurled ones - I'm not a fan of those black plastic ones. The colour on that bass is killer, what a gorgeous finish! I'd go for it.
  22. Could be done. In fact one of my patches does this: velocity is mapped to pitch with a hard curve so that notes above a certain volume threshold transpose an octave up. This can further be regulated by a CC so you can turn it on and off at will.
  23. Many people aren't aware of me who would otherwise have been if we were still using forums for some of my other hobbies, and many invitations never get to me. It's a price I'm willing to pay to not use a service owned by people I consider beyond the pale.
  24. This, 100%. Unfortunately, even a small amount of glitching on this renders the effect useless IME. Don’t get me wrong, I love the sounds on the F.I. but in the case of Ain’t Nobody it’s simply not usable.
