  2. "Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think. Enjoy yourself, while you're still in the pink. The years go by, as quickly as you wink. Enjoy yourself, enjoy yourself, it's later than you think"
  3. Test For Echo - Rush
  4. Yeah. Can also recommend Aguilar Hot Jazz pickups as a perfect halfway between a P and J sound. Articulate but really fat and powerful.
  5. You can spend a lot of time looking up all the bass players mentioned on here! I, for instance have no clue about many 70s US or even British rock bassists, and I haven't really got much interest because I tend not to like most of the music wot they have Dunn.. I spose you could call that wilful ignorance! However, there's a whole genre of music (and by extension, bass players) that is just completely dismissed on BC - jazz! So there's amazing players that the majority on BC would have no clue about (too many notes, sounds like a typewriter falling down the stairs, it's unmusical etc) such as Shahzad Ismaily, or Fima Ephron, or Kim Baker, or Erik Sanko, or Paul "Tubbs" Williams...
  6. Easy @FlyStraight99, modding quickly becomes addictive! Nice work 👍
  7. Highly regarded and really punchy sounding P-Bass pickup. Supplied with original pots, jack socket and box. Instructions also included, not that they’re needed as the connections are solderless push on types. The only thing that will need soldering is the earth wire to your existing one. £60 delivered to your door.
  8. Regrettable sale and a bass that`s been loved and cherished says to me get a replacement neck pickup such as a Dimarzio Model J to get nearer what you need.
  9. Love this board! How do you find the octabvbre and Fifteen play together? I've always found cab sims take away everything I love from my Octave pedals...
  10. Thanks for the help all. That's at least two votes for the passive di, two votes for the Behringer ADI, no votes at all for any kind of amp, several mentions of soundhole covers and even a recommendation for a piece of gear I already own and specifically ruled out in the OP. Seriously, there is a consensus and I really appreciate it. I think the direction is to stick with a passive di for now and see if a cheap preamp comes up or maybe have him buy the Behringer further down the line. Oh well. I am surprised the inbuilt preamps and tuners are actually useful on gigging stages, but hey, that's why I asked! Possible side quest for a sound hole cover but I know he is not interested in buying gear and I'll bet this is one those "don't need it until you do" things that people won't be convinced on until it's too late.
  11. A great restoration job mate...I used to have one of these in the 70's before l could afford a real one....fond memories.
  12. That looks to be in lovely condition - I enjoyed the track too!
  13. Get a 2nd hand GenzBenz Neox212.... or a new LFSys Monaco. Both can be used on their own and will likely sound louder/better....
  14. Just bought a bass from Paul, great comms, prompt delivery in superb packaging and the guitar itself is absolutely fantastic. Thanks Paul!
  15. High quality fuzz with some great sounds including Velcro tearing gated fuzz for some synthy action plus more traditional fuzz noises. In the original box with some feet and a sticker. Velcro’d on the bottom plus free of charge carpet fluff. I’m trying to free up cash for a BassRig 15 so not a massive interest in trades / part-ex unless there’s a Cioks DC7 or a GigRig QMX4 involved.
  16. Yes, a proper rock venue. I’ve not played there for a few years but remember it well. I think there was an additional performance space upstairs too? Oh yes, Queen’s Hall. I’ve just reread your text.
  17. The Internet is full of that which is great . Why commission a series to do the same. I'm self taught so deconstructing lines I heard from 1979 onwards is how I sound like I sound . Id hear something like Joy division and think what is he doing there ,that sounds odd then work out why . Next day it's Xtc or Joe Jackson band or Japan then Pil . Next thing you know you sound like a mix of them all .

  19. I know a couple of bands that share have 2 bassists. They just share the gigs evenly. It seems to work until 2 wks ago i was asked to dep for them cause each of them thought the other was doing the gig and both had confirmed gigs with other bands. 😂 Could the band go down that route. Perhaps the other bassist would be ok with that considering circumstances. Dave
  20. Yeah this is why I was at . It was interesting . I've no Jd ,new order stuff but I got his reasons for how he did stuff and how you got going back then ,his story . Those songs would have been completely different without his lines on it so that's the impact each player wants . People dissing stuff is embarrassing. People not even knowing who people are and quoting all the old timers, I find odd . If you truly love bass you've missed out on loads of stuff and influences . My playing has evolved from taking in everything for 47 years The little section on slap was an indicator as to where the makers are on it . I like the approach
  21. This was actually super useful. Thanks for sharing it! Wayback Machine link here: https://web.archive.org/web/20170520111637/http://www.bassplayer.com/gear/1164/flat-world-a-roundup-of-flatwound-strings/57888
  22. It was and because we're both on special diets from our gym it lasted 2 nights and that's us sharing. 😂 Dave
  23. I stopped going to TalkBass after they trashed their UI.
  24. Wow - amazing restoration /transformation job! 👌 GLWTS... 👍
  25. Im about to move into a new flat and basically need everything 🤣 so a few odds and ends will find their way up for sale. This is a fantastic pedal, a licensed version of the vaunted Bugbrand bugcrusher which is very expensive. Its a sample rate reducer with clean blend and one of the most musical ive ever tried. It took me ages to find one used, but i lterally use it on two tunes with a band that rarely gigs, so up it goes. Its in fantastic condition with a lovely sparkly silver finish, its got velcro on the bottom, no box unfortunately. £90 incl UK only delivery
