  2. Love these American RI basses. They play and sound amazing 🤩
  3. Strange question to ask. You're getting a bit personal now.
  4. I'm pretty sold on a 5560 me thinks. Thanks for the info/experience. I would probably drop a J stone in one but I totally get it.. I love a passive J bass...

  6. Sometimes saying something is rubbish it isn't just an opinion; it can be a quantifiably true statement. As an example my newly acquired 'made in China' Modern player starcaster bass is a lovely instrument to play now that I've slung on a set of LaBella flats and set it up, however it came from the factory fitted with one of the flimsy cheapo output sockets that has a good chance of the tip connector losing its springiness over time and causing the signal to cut out at the worst possible moment. As the bass is around twelve years old, the original socket is surely on borrowed time. Whenever I encounter one of these it gets replaced with a switchcraft, or preferably a pure-tone socket, and the original goes straight into the bin. Now that I have fitted the bass with a pure-tone socket, I can have complete faith that the output jack is top quality and won't fail on me. new pure-tone socket on the left, crappy flimsy cheapo rubbish original socket on the right.
  7. It's the neck for me with Laklands. Just like the 5502s Just like Atelier 5 strings they are superb. I've been told the Sadowsky modern ME sound like a Ken Smith. Not sure that's true..
  8. Super rare Iron Ether Super FrantaBit - basically two FranaBits in one box, with foot switches to flip flop between them both, as well as switch between Degrade and Obliterate mode. One of the most versatile and sought after Bit Crushers ever made. Grab this now, without the painfully long wait, shipping, and a massive VAT bill when it arrives in the UK! Selling this to buy a Hologram Microcosm (had one, massive regrets over selling it), but will consider the following trades/part-exs: Hologram Microcosm, Red Panda Tensor, Triungolo Barbanera. Iron Ether Polytope, Iron Ether Xerograph, Providence Anadime Bass Chorus, Ibanez Ashula SRAS7 (Dragon Eye Burl finish).

  9. It's a fretless so gets a big fat juicy thumbs up from me 😃
  10. Up for sale is this beautiful 12 bit sampler from around 1988. It's a Roland S550 with 8 separate outs and a top end GOTEK drive (with LCD screen) ready stocked with most of the available sample libraries and several hundred blank floppies. The sound in the video is the classic 'Air' choir. The library runs the full gamut of Roland's offering plus lots of other stuff including drum machines/ synths. acoustic instruments etc It's very powerful with the multiple outs. Monitor included. It's B/W and is essential for running the S550 to its full extent. It's in great nick and includes the original box and a manual etc It's a fantastic piece of gear and sounds very good indeed, but I need to streamline due to lack of space. Apologies for the rubbish pic of the back, it's a bit close to the wall for a wide shot but it looks nice and clean and, most importantly, all the outputs work! Pick up only nr Tun Wells/Ashford IMG_4455.mov

  12. Playing around with a tube overdrive using Matsumin’s Valvecaster circuit. I’ve changed the caps to allow more bass through and boosted the input to create a higher signal level into the drive stage. I’m waiting for some capacitors rated at 63v to add a charge pump to supply the tube plates with 30 odd volts. So far it sounds great!
  13. Not enough space? You could install a model railway on the table and still have enough room for a four-piece jazz combo on the floor space!
  14. I've seen all 3 episodes- they are about bass and bassists- what's not to like !
  15. New music/computer room. I'm already worried I haven't got enough space.
  16. Spotted some perfect knobs in the classifieds (no laughing at the back please) to lean into the "none more black" aesthetic. I would prefer this with soapbars but still having fun with it.
  17. Interesting to see the AxeFX tech coming in at a more reasonable price point, I wonder if they'll get any traction in the bass market with this as a QC/Helix competitor https://www.fractalaudio.com/am4
  18. Today
  19. Same. I’m enjoying it. My wife played a gig with her in London a few years back and Melissa was lovely! I liked Mani’s views on slapping, although I don’t quite know why that’s crept into this episode.
  20. Just checked and it was this one, CV70 and mapble board though.
  21. Currently on and focusing on Melissa Auf der Maur, don’t know much about her so finding it quite interesting.
  22. 👍
  23. I was looking forward to this. Very disappointed, boring.

  25. This afternoons gig with BLOCKBUSTARZ Glam covers band was a charity event in Boness that was sold out. We've played this venue many times for charity events, retirements, birthdays and are back again Feb 2026 for a 60th. The guy was at the gig today. Start time was 2pm and we literally had dancers on the floor for the first song and that lasted all the way thru the afternoon. Couldn't have asked for a better audience. When you get a lot of women out for a Saturday afternoon Xmas party they just wanna have fun and they did. The few males that were present also up dancing with everyone on the floor for the last few songs. The new Xmas songs went down a treat and we played well. Had a few hiccups with the PA where it cut out on occasion. Looked like he was running the powered cabs too hard. He decided to leave the subs in the van and just go with his JBL full range cabs. In future we'll always use the subs with them. He notched down the bass and kick drum volumes and i boosted my amp volume to compensate. Still sounded great tho but that solved the issue for the 2nd set. Decided to use my Sandberg MarloweDK for this one as the event was billed as a Xmas event so we went with the tinsel and a more Xmas look. Marlowe sounded excellent thru the Handbox WB-100 and BF212 cab. First time i've used this combination in the Glam band and i was very pleased. Sound guy also commented that it sounded superb out front. Some older ladies wanted to book us for 2027 for a triple birthday party but its a bit too far away to be taking bookings so we asked that they get in touch middle 2026. All in all a good day and home for 7:30pm via the Indian takeaway. Few pics of the stage etc appeared so that's all i have for time being. Dave
  26. I'm a Peter Hook, Joy Division, New Order, The Light fan. The program was aimed squarely at me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If anything there were too many bassists that weren't Hooky involved. There was always Gogglebox on the other side if you didn't like it. 😋
