The place we use in Perth has a vintage, Fender Bassman head through, I think, a Fender 6x10. Sounds good, no? Well, in all honesty, it’s just about OK, certainly nothing to get excited about. The space is actually the live room for adjacent studio, control room and not particularly large (but not small or cramped). Back there next Wednesday to shake out the dust and try 5 new songs for a gig, later in the month.

The one I go to each room has an Ashdown Mag 500 amp and Ashdown 8x10 cab. Each room we normally rehearse in is about 4m square.

First thing you could try is to flip both of these connectors upside down: If that doesn't do it, flip them back to where they were when you started. It looks like you really need to swap the black and white wires that go from the P pickup to the blend pot, but from your question I'm guessing that soldering is not an option? One possible solution would be to cut those two wires and use a small terminal block to reconnect them the other way round - white to black, and black to white: -

I suppose I'm referring specifically to the programme title. -
You get to see a couple of minutes of Mani talking in episode 1 of the Sky Arts programme "Greatest Basslines", aka "Hooky on Hooky".

What's "incurious" about not wanting to watch a TV show about bass that's NOT aimed at all bass players regardless of how often I choose to frequent Basschat? I know my musical tastes. -

A useful single channel line level isolating transformer for removing hum loops from PA, Mixer etc in a very solid metal case Input on either XLR or 6.3mm Jack - balanced or unbalanced Balanced output on XLR or 6.3mm Jack Switches for ground lift and phase reverse. The third switch provides either unity 1:1 or a 2:1 ratio tap for long cable runs There is a small circuit diagram on the top to remind you what all the connectors and switches do! Quoted frequency range is 20Hz to 25kHz at line level Dimensions 120 x 44 x 90 mm

Fender Precision bass in Tidepool from 2020. The bass has a satin urethane finish on the neck and is in near mint condition. Takes a great set up and only has a tiny mark on the P in Precision Bass on the headstock which is barely noticeable and can’t be seen in the close up photo as it is that small. Weight is 4kg. Price is £550 but I am open to sensible offers. Local pickup only from the Coalisland area. Feel free to ask any questions.

I bought this very well upholstered Gator gig bag (current retail £135) for my Guild Starfire bass, but although it fits, its a bit tighter lengthwise than seems sensible, so this has barely been used. It is fairly obviously sized for a Gibson 335 guitar, but will also fit a flying V or a short-scale bass that's a fraction smaller than a Starfire Loads of padding, loads of pockets and a waterproof cover (in pocket 6 on the back, I think - depends how you count the pockets) The padding at the base of the bag can be removed (its on velcro) to give a couple of cm extra space - the quoted overall internal length is without this extra padding fitted Pickup preferred, but I will post it, although I haven't worked out what that would cost, let me know if you're interested and I'll get a price. Internal size: Overall Length: 46.1" (117.09 cm) Body Length: 25.0" (63.5 cm) Body Height: 3.5" (8.89 cm) Lower Bout Width: 17.3" (43.94 cm) Middle Bout Width: 15.4" (39.12 cm) Upper Bout Width: 13.0" (33.02 cm) Exterior Dimensions: Length: 47.8" (121.41 cm) Width: 18.3" (46.48 cm) Height: 6.9" (17.53 cm)

LA Audio high quality active DI box, very solid construction; comes with an instruction leaflet - which is worth reading since the box is deceptively versatile! This works off an 18v rail so can cope with high or low level signals. Power via phantom from your mixer or 2 x 9v batteries Usefully it has a +20db switch to increase the level of low output devices and with 1M ohm input impedance is compatible with piezo pickups The Input will work with Instrument or Speaker levels ('Pad' switch is for speaker level), isolated XLR output for your mixer and a 'link' output to take the signal on to an amp or cab A separate unbalanced output is available as well as the balanced XLR

Wouldn’t let me type before - no idea why. Good gig last night helping some mates out. they’d agreed to the gig then their bass player moved to a different country so I stepped in. Learned 10 songs, played 7. wasn’t my best performance; first time going ampless and I was a bit thrown by that. sold out Gorilla in Manchester, the main band were half our age - it was like looking at a sea of my daughters mates 😆 Felt very old.

Anyone need a PA amp? Usual excellent Crown quality, this amp has only had light use and comes in a Chord carry bag. Not sure what the total weight is, but the amp on its own is under 4kg, so very portable XLR inputs, Speakon outputs for most users, plus various other options as per photos As well as standard Stereo, the amp can be configured as follows: Crossover Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on Channel 1 and a HighPass Filter on Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. LowPass Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=LPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 1 at the frequency chosen. HighPass Mode (CH1=HPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a HighPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. You can also put it into 'Bridge' mode for seriously high levels of output (according to the spec 1.5kW into 4ohm) Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I'll courier to you at cost.

I enjoyed it. If you didn't like it, there are lots of other bass centric shows to watch... oh. Wait... what? That's fake news, you say? Sorry. As you were. -
Does anyone have a Pete Back bass? Only ever saw one, a lefty Thunderbird with a flying V headstock. I owned a Pete Back Explorer for a while, sadly now gone. Not even sure if he's still in business, and cant find much info about him. Cheers

Picked up the Thunder 1 a couple of weeks ago. Hadn't played it for a while but the Roto 66s were still fresh. Blew me away. Took it to play four songs at an OM that evening. Lots of comment on the tone even though I was just straightintobthe PA with no DI box.

I stumbled on this, watched it. Yes the show was based around Peter H as the main presenter, which is OK and why not. I would agree maybe the show's title isn't quite on point but I don't mind as it was interesting to see Peter today with a few snippets of his history. I wonder also if some of the other "names" - were thinking, "Why aren't I the focus of the show?". I could see in Peter, any mention of Ian was emotional, they must have had great respect for each other, even at their young age. Knowing band arguments, it was interesting to note when Barney (Peter's long time friend) told him not to play on a new New Order track, that usually culminates into either a.. confrontation or "ok then Bye". I could see it was a sore point, indeed a mistake by Barney who I would suspect to be intoxicated by their success, money, new tech and even seduced by the hedonistic lifestyle of London. Which would have been equally as intense as Mcr but very different values. Anyway, I liked the show, was easy viewing. It's a contrast to today where when we want some real nitty-gritty we go to YT -

Maybe give it a watch then? Seems rather incurious that someone who frequents a site called Basschat wouldn't want to at least attempt a peek at an all-too-rare TV show about the subject. Each to their own, I suppose. Testify! 👏
