Fundamentally, they're very closely related amps. The first AD200 was simply a re-badged Matamp. How closely this particular example compares with a selected AD200 rather depends on what valves have been installed - I'd be a liar if I said they sound the same, since I've never A/B'd my Matamp against a similar Orange. -
With the jack lead plugged into the bass and connected to the amp (turned off), the red LED light now comes on. Turn the amp on, and the red light goes off again. Turn the amp off again snd the red LED comes back on….. 🤦🏻♂️. There’s something in the wrong place, I just can’t figure it out. I think someone who knows more about active electronics than me needs to have a look. I can wire passive looms all day long, but this active stuff is doing my nut in.

Getting away from the doom and gloom of the neck pocket, I decided to do something productive instead of destructive. The old control cavity had not enjoyed life in the shed, it had warped and was rotting at one of the screw holes. So I made a new one - or at least a template out of hardwood ply if I decide to make one out of another material... Still to do screw holes etc, but I'm pretty pleased with the shape, it fits better than the old one did!

This is as hard-hitting as Lucinda’s songs, and to be frank it’s a wee bit too honest. But that makes it compelling reading, so if you like her music it’s a solid investment. Why didn't you check the link I provided above with everything explained about the wiring of the preamp, because the red wire doesn't go there... It's fully documented with pictures and you also have the wiring diagram. Go and have a check, you are close to it.
