@ Hellzero.... christ mate thats just obscene 🙂 sold my wal 6 string fretless because this 6r is better ! not joking, plays better, sounds better feels better, no dead spots and it was ridiculously cheap ( review on here somewhere) , i still have a wal out of my wall collection of 7 and others i have had, including the midibass, ( which i should not have sold as i need it now) but can say for deffo they are not all made equally ! so here are my two for now 1 a HK 6, ( before they became wolf) burl poplar 2, Doug Wilks jazz, tiger stripe maple/ebony, with john east, MEC gold pickups, schallers

Jeff Genzler makes some great bass gear.

That’s a very good point. The abm evo has a warm woolly tone but is articulate. They are extremely different. I can definitely see this amp would help in a band situation. Need more time to play with it. What did you move on to after the Magellan?

Howdy Been using flats for years. Now doing an Echo and the Bunnymen tribute, Echoes of the Bunnymen- and the flats were ok for the early songs, but Les Pattinson has a very trebly sound later on. So bought some Elites ground wound - please note I do NOT want to use round wounds - can’t go back- the Elites are giving me nice twang and sustain, but sticky (hoping this is coating that’ll fade) Want to get some for the other bass - what do you think are brightest but smoothest? Ian Allison, GHS … your esteemed thoughts appreciated - also need medium to higher tension as Les plays a fair bit of very fast picking.

I can’t believe we’ve gotten this far into the thread without any mention (@chris_b excepted) of the most obvious candidate, bass.

I recall I used the contour control to make it less modern sounding. The thing is compared to the ABM600 which has a very warm slightly woolly tone anything else seems too bright at times ! The clarity you are now hearing helps a lot in a band situation

The ebay pics have a DH Gate watermark, so either "Crazy Guitar World" is affiliated with them, or someone stole the pics that DH Gate stole. Don't be crazy, don't shop there!

Mate I was amazed how articulate my bass was. I put in a @KiOgon loom kit in and some Bart’s. Ive still the original pickups and some roundwounds so I’ll be interested to see how the sound changes. How did you go about achieving more warmth? I notice the treble doesn’t help much with my pbass with flats. It adds or takes away clank noise.
