  3. "This bass retains the original strings that were on it when the consignor received it in 1977." 😳
  4. Maybe it was badly labeled then - I would watch a program called greatest basslines, but probably not something about peter hook. Still, put the series on record so I can skim over that.

  7. Strings are so important, it’s pretty obvious really, but you play the strings not the bass. The strings are the interface you interact with, so it’s so important to have strings that feel and sound right. Personally I love well worn in strings, maybe a year or two, but when they really die off I don’t like that dull tone. Equally I don’t like brand new zingy strings either, definitely somewhere in the middle, but it’s very subjective, horses for courses.
  8. That's a cool bit of history. If only on putting it on to play transformed you into a funk monster.
  9. Dress rehearsal for tonight's gig. 90s and 00s indie classics. It was at Tweeters near Leatherhead. Big room full PA. Proper drum kit which the drummer always sounds better on, we use an electric one at our usual private place. In my never ending quest to find the one amp solution, I recently bought a TC Electronics BH800 bass amp. If I was to write a review of the BH800, I'd say it doesn't sound as good as other class D amps (my TecAmp Puma for example) until you start using the tone prints for the basic sound. Unfortunately there are only 2 tone prints, and I've loaded them with the 2 different dirt/fuzz effects I need for this band. Fortunately, one of the guitarists is lending me his Orange isobaric 4x10 bass cab, which sounds great. It's 8ohm and the BH800 (allegedly) kicks out 400w at 8ohm which is enough. We ploughed through the set and tidied up the 2 new songs we've added. TLDR it was great fun, and very good for my mental health.
  10. Nice example of a Player Precision, and light too at 8.3lbs. Can do with either black tort or white plates as per pics. Holes in the headstock where I added a Hipshot triple retainer, happy to put it back on if required. No case or gigbag so collection/meet only. No trades thanks.
  11. Hooky is my favourite bass player ever so I loved it, would have been bored to tears if it was a greatest basslines show
  12. Still in and an unexpected redundancy has made my completion even easier!
  13. I’ll be in Eastleigh tonight and Lyme Regis tomorrow if anyone round those parts is interested. Send me a message this morning and I’ll bring it along! Similarly I’ll be in Wavendon on Saturday and Penarth on Sunday. Happy to bring it along if needs be.
  14. A link’s fine too.

  16. I can’t believe nobody hasn’t snapped this up at this price! It’s absurd. I’ve got one for sale myself and I’d never let it go at this price. If I had the spare cash I’d buy this! Either, folk haven’t used one of these or, everyone is being more than coy with their money. You will never really need another amp or effects, this covers it all. Absolutely baffling.

  18. Hey all. I have a Batking fretless acoustic bass uke, thunder brown strings installed... I'm trying to introduce some relief to the neck and I'm thinking now that the trussrod has a reverse thread. Have any of you found this too? Lefty-loosey got lots of resistance after a quarter turn, but righty-tighty turns freely most of the way with resistance at the end too. Neither way loosens off completely like on a bass guitar and no difference to the relief doing any of the above. These short necks may possibly need some time to react to any new adjustments made though. But that's just a hunch as I don't know for sure. Maybe it's a duff trussrod? Thoughts? 🤔

  23. For sale, I purchased this from the Lovely Sarah up in Huddersfield a while back here on BC. It was her Dads amp and is a testament to his love and care for it. It is in excellent condition and shifts a serious amount of air. I am always in disbelief at its 100 watt rating!? It is full, rich, and thumps with a P bass or a Thunderbird 🤗🤗 It works very well and is super clean. One of the graphic sliders seems to do very little so it think we can mark that down as needing a sort out. No other scratchy pots or issues to report. All original as far as i can tell. It has no model number on the front panel unlike any other I have seen, not sure if this is good or bad?? Construction is totally bomb proof and it carries the weight to go along with that. On casters so easily movable but lifting is a two man job. I have throughly enjoyed owning this iconic beast but space and handling mean I could do with moving it on to another lucky soul. It has a ripped dust cover but keeps it tidy. See pics for most details I think needed covering but more available on request of course. Due to the size and weight I am willing to meet up an hour or so from Liverpool to deliver, but I will look into large bulk shipping for any interested buyer. I will split this cost so not much more than an average size cab would cost to post i guess. Cheers Craig.
