Fair enough to get a 70s MIJ Precision for £69 (total bargain) but I can tell you in no uncertain terms it's nothing to do with Ibanez. That style of logo was never used on 70s copy-era guitars, and the neck plate style with the MIJ stamp on the upper half of the plate was never used by Fujigen Gakki, the factory which made 70s Ibanez. That neckplate style could point to Chushin Gakki, or possibly the Matsumoto City manufacturer's co-op Matsumoto Gakki Seizou Kumiai. That bridge is not what I'd expect to see on an MIJ P copy, so it's possible it's not the original, or might even hint that the bass is a bitsa. Some clear, detailed pics of hardware might help clarify things, but back then there were a lot of different factories making pretty similar/generic Fender copies, which were frequently sold unbranded, so it's unlikely we'd be able to pin down exactly what it is. Always cool/interesting to see though!

Just get a set of cream covers on those SDs (to match the fretboard) & that'll be sorted. 👍 -
https://www.facebook.com/reel/834906742617867 I've never tried this before and the pictures and sound are compressed to hell on FB but this is something the singer put up. You should just about see the lights illuminating the band tucked in behind the speakers and the two flashing facing the audience. You can also make out the Par Bar behind the guitarist, there was nowhere else to put it given the space. The phone has also corrected the colour which was primary red for the static lights These lights come with an optional diffuser which was fitted which is why you can't see the bulbs

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
MacDaddy replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
😆 We're going to be doing a bit of that ahead of our New Year's Eve gig. -
The Achievers last Saturday. Anyone who enjoys great songwriting with excellent musicianship delivered with a touch of humour between songs will enjoy this band. At Temperance in Leamington Spa. A tiny basement venue with a capacity not much above thirty.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

Just had a decent Bendricks Rock rehearsal. No new stuff tonight, just turd polishing ahead of Saturday. Got a nice tone from the Squier40th Anniversary P. and added a few extra flourishes. -

A Basschat Ukulele Bass sub section now needed?
Happy Jack replied to miles'tone's topic in General Discussion
But it would need to be very small. -
From Big Country tonight in Alexander’s chester superb , I realise that it is almost a tribute , but Mark Brzezecki was incredible , I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard drumming like it . the rest of the guys were so on it , it was fantastic. i bought an extra ticket for our kid for his birthday last week , we first saw Big Country at the Liverpool Empire 40 years ago 😁

This was a Covid project for me and it began life as a very neglected Columbus jazz bass. i stripped off the finish, refinished it in Lake placid blue, added MIM fender pickups and tuners. The bridge is from a friends spares box and I’ve no idea where the control plate came from. Rather than the usual fake fender decal, I went with a tokai one. Bad bits - the finish on the rear of the body is pretty patchy. The front is ok but there are some ‘roadworn’ areas. It was my first attempt at a refinish but it looks great from the front. Good bits - it’s really playable. The neck is really slim and fast. Reminds me of my MIJ Geddy. Asking £175 for it. Collection preferred but we can sort something out if that’s not practical. I’ve attached some before and after pics

Loving the Aguilar Octamizer model in the last update. Not identical to the original, but close enough for me!

Ernie Ball getting into the string mute game
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to PinkMohawk's topic in Accessories and Misc
I now have the guitar version which is actually three separate mutes, all of which work well on bass. I'm using the smallest one on my new (to me) starcaster bass and it takes the edge off the sustain nicely. I'll give them a go on the bass vi after I've put the LaBella flats on it. -

You can't go wrong with a set of SDQPs. Everything else is for the eyes, those are for the ears. They transformed my Squier P-bass Special, which is still my favourite 4-string

I think I went a bit overkill on the mods!
snorkie635 replied to FlyStraight99's topic in Bass Guitars
That's the best mod-job I've ever seen on a Ricky 4001. -
Worth bearing in mind that any recorded bass in a track will have multiple stages of compression contributing to the final sound. Taking a classic setup you've potentially got compression from a (mic'ed) amp, a channel compressor, tape saturation and a mix compressor. Potentially extra channel and/or bus compressors and a tape bounce or two! A lot of these will only be shaving off the odd dB or two but it all adds up. In my opinion, the best way to use compressors on bass is to use several of them, with none of them working too hard individually. That way you can choose the sound sculpting you want practically independently of the dynamic range reduction.

I'm sure that will be coming shortly.

What?! no ki_ogon wiring loom? Can't be right 😂

A bit more Pink Floyd than punk maybe? Just my view comparing the bass to the Roger Water sig. bass.
