I was looking at the Sansamp but ended up with a Genzler Magellan Preamp/DI Pedal specifically because: It has a built in HPF It has a built in mute switch It has two channels, one "modern" and the other "vintage" meaning two different EQ settings Seemed to do everything else the Sansamp did as well I've also historically liked the sound of Genz Benz/Genzler gear.

2025 SE Bass Basheroo! Provisionally Sunday 9/11/25
prowla replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Events
Yes - I have bought & sold items at previous Bass Bashes; I expect we'll set aside a for-sale area/table at the venue. We'll need to work out a floor plan; as @NancyJohnson mentioned it's pretty much an open area with a stage at one end. -
Yeah, I’ve bypassed the battery box, and connected a clip on battery terminal, and yep, lead plugged in etc, and no joy at all.

Hi guys Before I go and buy a Sansamp Bass VT DI, wanted to see if anyone had any better ideas. I play at home through a powered speaker (Yamaha HS7) so a combined preamp/di box makes the perfect home practice setup. I've got a Boss ME-90B which sounds great but its a bit big for my small office space and frankly I want an excuse for new gear. I've had sansamp gear before so I know roughly what I'm getting but aware there are other bits of gear out there now that do similar things, ie the Origin Effects stuff which certainly looks good. Desirable features for me: 1. Vintage/Classic sounds, in the motown/reggae/edge of breakup indie rock spectrum. If i was a rich man who had a bigger house I'd probably buy a "real" B15 and an SVT and switch between them depending on mood. 2. High gain absolutely need not apply 3. Battery power ideal but not essential. 4. If needs a power supply, dedicated power switch very desirable (i don't like faffing about disconnecting and connecting power to turn stuff on/off) 5. Balanced DI out desirable 6. Volume control that affects the DI out extremely desirable 7. Cab sim on the DI out extremely desirable. Even better if it's switchable/defeatable. The Bass VT DI ticks almost all of those boxes I believe but interested to see if anyone thinks I'm selling myself short...

Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe for sale in excellent condition but without box or manual. Has velcro on the base but could easily be removed. I bought this new some years ago but haven't been using this for some time and would like to free up some cash, hence the sale. Price includes UK wide delivery via Royal Mail or Parcelforce, or can be collected locally in Cardiff for a small reduction.

For sale is my Wilcock 4P-51. I picked this up second hand a little while ago, but this is a 2020 model from Viv Wilcock. I've recently received a Mullarkey, which I ordered ages ago, which has kind of superseded this bass for me so I'm moving this on. It's a wonderfully simple and fantastically made bass that deserves to be played. I've made a couple of modifications (see specs below) and there are a few marks on the front and back of the body, which I've tried to show in the photos - these were already on the bass when I bought it and do not affect the playability in any way. Just a great quality, simple, working bass. Comes with a Status branded Hiscox hard case (no idea why it's Status branded - just what came with it when I bought it!) and is currently strung with TI flats. These start at £2500 new and I'm looking for £1550 for this. I'm in Smethwick/Birmingham for collection etc.. Also welcome to come and try the bass out if you wish! Could probably ship in the UK, but I would ask that any potential buyer would arrange this themselves fully insured. I would prefer collection or meet up within a reasonable distance. Potentially in for trades for the right 4-string fretless, but would prefer the sale. Any questions, just ask. Thanks for looking! Specs: - 30 inch scale - black stained swamp ash body - beautiful figured maple neck (satin finish) with rosewood fingerboard (20 medium jumbo frets) - passive volume/tone controls - Fralin split 51 pickup (original Sunbear single coil replaced due to a noise issue - original included in sale) - TinyTone tort pickguard (original black guard included) - Hipshot ultralite tuners - Think the bridge is Gotoh? Fully adjustable in any case

Cover version beats the original!

I like Johnny Cash's original, but I also like Slim Harpo's take on Folsom Prison Blues -
Came home buzzing as had a great service - got a lovely growly sound out of the Warwick (ended up using it's passive mode) and following the friday practice was far more comfortable with the five strings today - then stomped in a mid boost using a Boss GEB-7 for the two songs I played fretless on and got enough mwah that the worship leader even looked at me and smiled... small things!

2025 SE Bass Basheroo! Provisionally Sunday 9/11/25
SimonK replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Events
Quick question - is it OK to bring stuff to try and sell on as well? I have a drawer full of pedals and a couple cabs (not in the drawer) that I never quite get around to listing anywhere? -
Songbird. Christines genius wrote it and Eva made it popular. Both versions are just amazing, and Johnny Cashes Hurt is just sublime..off the scale.
-
Have you got Divine Brown on standby?
-
The jack socket looks okay from what I can see. I can't comment on the preamp. I was unable to get enough slack in the loom to pull it out that far. Have you tried with a battery yet? You have to have a jack plugged in and the switch to the correct position for the preamp to work.

Its weird but with TT800 i find my Sandberg Marlowe sounds better thru the Subway channel rather than the Boogie channel but my VM4 sounds better thru the Boogie channel. Not tried backing of the neck pick up tho. I'm normally full on both on my Marlowe or my Jazz. Dave
