  1. Past hour
  2. I’m currently in the process of rescuing one too. Very cool basses. GLWTS
  3. Take spares of anything you need to get through a gig. For me that's bass, 1/4" cable, xlr cable, tuner, di box. For you it might be a different list. Mark your stuff somehow. I put a blue cable tie around everything I own. It doesn't stop someone walking away with it, but it means I can categorically say "that's mine, give it back". Do a technical rehearsal before hand. What's a technical rehearsal? A practice gig. Rent a large space like a village hall or a social club, take all your gear and play a whole fake gig. Fake setup, facing a fake audience, fake soundcheck, play a fake set as if there was an audience. A normal rehearsal is for solving problems like "what key should we play this song in?" or "how long should we make the middle 8 break?". A technical rehearsal is for solving problems like "I have used my gear rather than the stuff in the rehearsal studio, I have just realised I don't have the right cable to plug x into y" or "if I stand here, where I thought was sensible, it turns out I can't see Z, I need to remember to stand closer". And most commonly: "we thought we had enough songs for 45 minutes, turns out they only last for 30".
  4. I think into a 4ohm cab they sound incredible and loud enough for a loud band, A word of warning as being so light they can easily move on top of a cab. Put a rubber mat down on top of cab to save pulling it off or amp walk
  5. Thanks for that - used the five string for three (out of five) songs during a pre-Sunday practice last night and was getting the hang of it by following the tip of always hitting the E on the fifth fret. Just going to bring the five string and the fretless on Sunday morning which will hopefully stop me chickening out this week!
  6. Drums, e.g. overdoing double kickdrumming actually ruins the sense of groove.
  7. Easily solved...
  8. That would be great. I was hoping for something similar to the MM Slo neck which is similar to the jazz width. I think the standard USA Rays were just over 41mm from memory. What is the next steps? Do you need deposits or are you scoping the demand/cost? Its fantastic you're doing this for the community, big credit to you.
  9. I would be VERY keen on one for a pre-EB so I can finally own a "cutlass". I have played a few from Status (Jazz, Musicman, Musicman with narrow nut). The latter is my favourite, although this is obviously personal preference. I also fine the modulus flea bass neck to be nice. Any interest in a short scale stingray neck? I would be hugely interested in that. Well done man, this looks great
  10. Keys. I’ve been in too many bands where the keyboard player felt obliged to fill any hint of quiet with pointless flourishes adding nothing to the song.
  11. This is ridiculously cheap for a quality rig - I've just gone a different route in the past month, otherwise I'd be all over it at this price. You shouldn't need it, but GLWTS!
  12. I sold my Elf and have often regretted doing so. I used to use it as a rehearsal amp when I played in a studio with no bass head, just an Orange 4x10. I gigged it a few times through a Barefaced Super Compact, but only when we played a certain pub in Watford that was so small the guitarist used to prop his combo on top of my Super compact and my GK Legacy didn't fit. They get nice and warm when pushed.
  13. This is interesting, and reasonably priced too...
  14. Sew In Love - Ella Fitzgerald
  15. Apparently, the Modulus made early necks were a myth (rrp of a modulus neck was almost as much as the rrp of the G Bass), and they are not actually carbon necks as marketed, they have a maple core with a carbon wrap. Still cracking basses for the money of course, but really interesting marketing choice from Peavey; the manual literally says it's a Carbon Graphite neck with no mention of it being mostly wood. Crazy but there you go. Still want it!
  16. The Needle and The Spoon - Lynyrd Skynyrd
  17. For sale, my mint condition X32 Producer. Just under 2 years old and bought by me from Andertons, it's been flight cased from new. I used it at home to learn digital desks and then did a few rehearsals plus about 10 gigs before I upgraded to a bigger desk. I've kept it as a backup, but am now looking to upgrade my main desk again, and therefore this is surplus to requirements. All faders, encoders and buttons, ins and outs working perfectly. Will be restored to factory settings before it goes, and am more than happy to spend some time with the buyer to show them how it all works if needed. It's a great first desk if upgrading from analogue and a nice compact size for gigging, but also ideal for a home studio setup, or for an IEM rig. It can be rack mounted and the rack ears will be included. All the specs are available on the Behringer website, but this has 16 local ins, 8 outs plus 8 aux ins/outs. Can be expanded to 32in/16 outs with a behringer stage box (S16 or SD16) and you can record multitracks to a DAW via the 32 channel interface. Priced to sell at £750, which is a good saving on new with the flight case which was £200 on its own. Collection from Chelmsford, or will drive a reasonable distance for a meet up. Payment via cash or BACS. Please DM me if you have any questions.
  18. This … if you lose your place reduce volume until you find it again
  19. A great find with an interesting story.
  20. Don't look at each other and wince when you mess up a bit. Chances are most or all of the audience weren't aware of your mistake and you just told them.
  21. I had of these over 30 years ago - it was the most resonant bass I ever owned, and it played beautifully and sounded amazing ! The only reason I sold it was that I stopped playing (for 11 years) and only kept one bass.. This looks like a beautiful example of Mike Tobias's work and is no doubt, going to make it's new owner very happy! GLWTS 👍😊
  22. What a fantastic find, congratulations John 😎
