  2. That’s the thing - I have memories of several early years of thrashing some awful underpowered bass practice amp and wondering why it didn’t sound like the thunderous bass on the records I loved! Good call on the Eden stuff. There's a Roland Bass Cube on here for sale too but it’s far away from me. Wasn’t sure what people thought of Fender Rumbles? My own practice amp is a knackered old Orange Crush which farts out almost immediately and has been relegated to the garage, so it’s not much to go on.
  3. @NancyJohnson of this Parish, and joint-patron of the South East bass bash, had a splendid little Eden amp for sale. I tried it out at the event and was impressed - the only reason that I didn't buy it was because I use headphones at home, and because it struggled with the low B on my 5 string. * However, if you are looking for recommendations for someone who has a four-string, then the Eden range impressed me. * that's two reasons.
  4. Indeed - id be very interested to hear a review!
  5. Looks cool. That’s the main thing.
  6. Remarkable lack of interest on this classic on both here and the ‘bay. Great delay tones, but one of the most intuitive (if limited in length) looper out there, as used by KT Tunstall and Steve Lawson (and I believe the E1 version on Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood’s pedalboard). Not getting enough use here though, so need to shift it on!
  7. I had a very stressful Rememberance Day service on Sunday, but it was good. The band debuted a song, written by myself and the band leader well over a year ago, which expresses my thoughts and hopes for Ukraine. It wasn't written for church, it's a band song and it builds in a very specific way. We spent a fair chunk of the rehearsal on themat one on getting the phrasing right, changing the arrangement and so on so it was as good as it could be gievn that the band had never heard it. To add to the pressure the minister, who really liked it when we played it to him months ago and wanted to include it at Rememberance, had scheduled it immediately before the 2 minutes silence. I expected it at the end after the colours had paraded out, not as a critical element. Thankfully it went very well, and we had a lot of positive comments. The band leader's guitar lead was crackly right at the start, butbwas OK after that. YT sound mangles the arrangement a little and doesn't capture the bass at all (it starts with a heartbeat on the low B) but it's not bad. See what you think.
  8. It's genuine. Don't you people remember when Peavey had their open day for the partially sighted event?
  9. If that was a Basschatter buying it, please can we have a review?
  10. I'd love to try the MXR and the VIP. The MXR has that ease of use that made me HATE the FI v1 I had; I know its come a long way since then, but part of the reason I loved the Deep Impact is that it had everything on the pedal, no PC required etc and the MXR has that too. I tend to completely not get the argument people make when they say they'd rather just play keys to get a proper synth tone. I feel like it's mostly bedroom musicians that think this way, oddly enough I can't just whip out a synth for a middle 8 for most of the venues I play in!
  11. Great little cab, I love mine
  12. There will probably be a fair few secondhand practice amps in your locality. Most of them will do the job until she wants to get a gig rig.
  13. For my “portable bass amp” I use an Ashdown Studio 10 which is compact, light and puts out 50 watts (enough for a decent jam). No complaints from me. The new Eden combos sold through Gear4Music look interesting, although I have no direct experience of them. On paper they look good value and there should be no issues if you needed to return it. I’ve never been a fan of the very smallest practice amps because I think they are just too limiting if you plan on playing with others.
  14. BassDirect had 5: Midnight Green, FireGlo, Walnut, MapleGlo and JetGlo, all at £3299. The JetGlo one went a couple of weeks ago.
  15. Dalston, apparently - and they have found someone. I sent a direct message to the OP - I didn't want them to think that we were not keen to help!

    Merton

I also got some strings from Merton and it was a super simple transaction and quick turnaround!
  17. gorgeous and well crafted bass! Looks like exceptional value for money given the spec of the bass!
  18. Yes you are right. I don't know why these go under the radar to be honest, maybe the cost when new? It's a really good bass and I won't be upset if it doesn't sell.
  19. And definitely not a 0. Despite my listing 0189 on my theoretical Xmas list, it was not comfortable to play, as bassbiscuits states.
  20. What’s the SFX Micro Energiser? Si
  21. None of the Brooks basses tend to be neck-heavy. Thanks to a combination of carefully selected materials and their arrangement: - Super light tuners. The modified Schaller GrandTune tuners for the octave strings weigh only 17 grams each. And the Gotoh GB350 tuners for the bass strings weigh only 39 grams each. - In addition, the rear strap-button is positioned well above the center of the bass, which shifts the center of gravity.
  22. Hi, just a quick one... I am currently selling a QSC K12.2 active speaker that I use as an FRFR speaker - some people list them in Amps and Cabs for sale, others list them in Accessories and Other Musical stuff for sale. I have listed mine in amps and cabs. Can i list it in both? I just wondered that was all as it kinda fits either... Although I'm sure the same parties peruse both sections, I was just curious as to whether it was against forums rules? Thanks!
  23. @Dazm66 "It's taken me long enough to play bass to a decent standard and I have no interest in learning keys to get those sounds" You've summed me up in a nutshell when it comes to synth bass! I'm currently leaning a little to the FI v4 VIP, which is only £20 more new than the MXR, if I do swap from my Boss SY-200, but certainly bass-mates of mine who have upgraded their their C4 to the MXR are really happy with the change over!
  24. Bed Spring Boogie — Clarence Brewer
  25. No, I've never done it and I've never even thought about doing it until you mentioned it the now. Nope, still not doing it. I don't see what value it brings - the UK plug is already over engineered to the nth degree (which is why it's the best plug design on the planet - fight me). Reason why not? Apart from it being completely unnecessary, it would make replacing a worn cable a bigger job than it needs to be.
