  3. As much as i agree with the comments i can see you have no strong feelings then ? 😂 Dave
  4. This is super useful thank you so much!! I have similar restriction on the jazz bass, the neck volume becomes master volume when you pull the tone pot up. You still have all the original sounds so it’s no biggie. I’ll consider this layout for my bass. Thank you!
  5. Nope. Haven’t touched a drop
  6. BEST. I'd have to say the Genz Benz NX212t I bought on here... and the Bugera Veyron M1001. MOST DISAPPOINTING: A used Ashdown RT500 head from G4M. It was packaged in just a cardboard box, with nothing to protect it. It was supposedly a MK2 but was actually a MK1. And to top it all it didn't work. I did get my money back fairly promptly and an apology. WORST: A brand new tuner pedal from Andertons that worked powered by battery but not from 9v mains power from my pedalboard. Returning it was a pain. If it was picked up from the house the return was free, however I'd have to pay postage if I wanted to return it myself. Anderton apparently don't provide returns labels. Also their returns procedure is naff. If I hadn't asked where the returns labels were a collection wouldn't have been arranged. Luckily one of my sons was home.

  8. Here is a video I recorded to give you an idea of the amount of tonal possibilities with this mod. For me it is the best mod for a PJ, particularly for the BBP bass as I always found it lacked a distinct tone range. The best thing is, it’s all passive! Sound in this video is straight from the bass to the recorder.
  9. If I were Fender … I would keep the Fullerton site and Leo’s stuff and make it a museum/shop and maybe move custom shop there if feasible, for the legacy thing I would use Leo’s signature and face on things loads more… I would leave it a few years and then bring a few G&L designs out the custom shop… then a limited version of the legacy line made abroad …
  10. Quick update on this post. Please DO NOT follow the diagram I shared above, it is wrong! After many emails exchanges with Don from StellarTone he was super kind to helped me fix this diagram. I’ll attach a picture of how it should be, below. I also decided to change the volume pot for a CTS 250k push pull pot. In the end I paid someone to do these changes as I could not trust my soldering skills. If you are good with soldering that’s a no brainer mod. I think it’s totally worth the investment. Please see the links for all the components used: Volume push pull pot https://ebay.us/m/eK4hvR CTS blend pot https://ebay.us/m/OQenuP ToneStyler Bass 10 https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/stellartone-tonestyler-bass-ten/ Note: The series mode only works as both pickups on, and if you have the bridge pickup soloed it will mute the bass. So for Series sound you have to have the blend at center or at bridge pickup. Correct wiring diagram:
  11. Nice 👍. Anyone who can play the guitar at all should have a nylon strung one in the house. I finally bought one a couple of years ago, after decades of not owning one and it’s the guitar I pick up the most.
  12. Now 890 GBP delivered to your door! Up for grabs is my Moon JJ4. Ebony fretboard, brass nut, the body looks like alder... 13. Wow. Bargain. GLWTS. That's not much more than I paid second hand for just the head. GK is as good as it gets.
  14. You're on fire tonight. You on the happy juice 😂 Dave
  15. BbKing playing a strat which has a giant ginger cat for a neck???? I can't un see it. Charlie Watts was the old man in the Rolling Stones, with a regular haircut, check.
  16. @jonno1981 I’m sure you can follow the same approach, in your case instead of the blend you have a switch. To have it like mine you just need to change your volume pot for a push/pull pot. If you decide to install the ToneStyler it will be super straightforward too. Looking at the wiring for the 414 you will need to re-wire the bridge pickup to the new vol pot and then from the vol pot to the pick up selector. I’ll attached the diagram that Don from StellarTone helped me produce. Important to note that in this wiring configuration, when in series it always work as both pickups on, you cannot blend, and if you have the bridge pickup selected it will mute the bass. The pickup Selector will have to either be on neck or both pickups to get the series sound. I recommend you using the CTS 250k pot https://ebay.us/m/eK4hvR You won’t need this but for anyone interested this is the blend pot I’ve used: https://ebay.us/m/OQenuP I purchased the ToneStyler from Bassdirect but if you buy directly from StellarTone they also sell the CTS pots. Wiring diagrams. The top is the one I’ve used and the second one is for your bass. You just have to compare your switch to the blend pot and follow the other wires connections.
  17. Thanks so much for taking a pgoto of your bass! I’m going to get one from guitarguitar. cheers mate!!

  19. I actually prefer a direct sale, but it always depends. Maybe you can send me your ideas via pm.
  20. No GAS here. Best purchase, a Delonghi EC885m espresso machine upgraded with Hugo IMS unpressurized filter. Worst purchase. A bad back.
  21. What kind of budget are you talking? the Shiftline Olympic mk3 is excellent but it’s not cheap. I used to use the Natural bass amp when I had the GT1k core, the Olympic to me was the sound it was trying to emulate but far more harmonic goodness and plays very nicely with other effects. I use a 0xEAE Bass Driver now, same lineage as the Rusty Box. It’s got more colour and can do more grit if needed but does an excellent clean tone. EAE are in the process of reworking it for a smaller enclosure too which should be available in the not too distant future.

  25. I used a water based paint stripper to get the top coat and stain off, then good old sanding to get the sealer coat off. That’s hard work, especially the corners and contours as you don’t want to go at those with a power sander as you can easily lose shapes and contours…. Anything flat you can power sand, anything contoured has to be done by hand. That’s what the luthier guy who did the refinish told me. This is nearly complete, I’m just waiting on the new bridge from EB which shold be here mid November! I can then do a final assembly and string it up!
  26. Good gig. Second set wasn't so great. BL called songs we haven't played in years. No complaints and I was home by 7:30. Daryl
  27. Hello dear friend i will tell my sad story: I recently acquired a Washburn Bantam XB-500 5-string bass with no wires connected to the potentiometers inside the body. The bass' already restored and partially finished. But I can't continue with the remaining part (to connect or rewire the pickups wires and 3-way toggle switch together)... My XB500 model comes with an electronic preamp module with two potentiometers, a lonely potentiometer, a 9-volt battery, a three-way selector switch, and Jazz Bass-style pickups, which means it's an active bass. I need help finding the wiring diagram. I really don't know how to rewire it. Or perhaps could upload some photos showing how it's wired i mean the 3-way toggle switch and pickups wires together. PD: i need to know how to re-connect the 3-way Toggle switch with bridge and neck pickups wires together.. i really dont know how, and i am stuck because of it, sadly my bass has no sound right now. perhaps you gonna say "sorry i dont have the wiring diagram" and i will understand that because it is not easy to get it.. i am simply asking you to take some pictures of the electronics part from the XB500 showing how the 3-way toggle switch and pickups wires are connected together... please bro help me.. cheers John from Guatemala.
