  2. Yep that was me! Whilst my Wilcock bass isn’t actually short scale (it’s 32” as @ezbassmentioned) it does get you in the ballpark and plays/sounds very much like a short scale bass. Plus being medium scale it’s very easy to switch between that and my regular 34” basses. I actually bought it last year from a fellow Basschatter specifically to play on a few tracks for the latest DC album and it ended up on every track. It’s since become the number 1 bass on the UK tour and will be going all round Europe with us in the spring. It really is a joy to play and is incredibly responsive under the fingers. Previously I had a JMJ Mustang that filled the shorty role but it was nowhere near as versatile as the Wilcock. And it sounds awesome with a pick. Does the clicky palm-mute thing better than anything else I’ve played.
  3. Doesn’t appear to be on the shops website yet, I’d guess a bit more than 18,500, depending on how original it is
  4. I don't know, but props to you for asking instead of just going ahead.
  5. Heh, nice - a professional player still using their old TU-2. I'll only replace mine if it dies.
  6. As said I really like it both looks and spec wise, but considering I could get a custom made bass made exactly to my preferred specs for that kind of money, and honestly likely at higher quality too, if I ever had that kind of money to spare for a bass, it is highly unlikely I would chose the Rickenbacker.
  7. Satellite of Love - Lou Reed
  8. Moonage Daydream - David Bowie
  9. Teenage Daydream - Barefood -
  10. Pretty much 1kg less than the new bass!
  11. 3.4kg? I want one...I thought they'd be 8, 8 1/2 lbs...
  12. I noticed the same in Glasgow. A few weeks ago they had maybe 2 shorties and 2 other Ricks. Now 4 shorties.
  13. As a London shop, I reckon £18,500.
  14. You have read correctly. It's definitely good enough for the Dog and Duck! To be fair I have only had a chance to have a little play and only through a couple of basses (e.g only just realised from reading the TB thread that I might need to change some global settings OOTB!). IMA has had time to perfect technique and, I suspect equally importantly, work out which bass and which settings work best. It's certainly not a massive detractor for what is an amazing little pedal! I had a quick scan through the thread and my review would be more favourable. I play in two bands, one is very much soul/funk covers where I might need the pedal for 2 or 3 songs out of 20, and for that, this is perfect. It's taken me long enough to play bass to a decent standard and I have no interest in learning keys to get those sounds. I would also argue that the presets decently cover the sorts of sounds I'm after. Its definitely a million times better than trying to build the sounds on the Helix - I guess I could have bought IMA's HX stomp patches, but they're not far off the cost of this. Ultimately it's 'horses for courses' but worth trying if you get a chance.
  15. @uk_lefty is looking for an '80s style bass. I'd say it doesn't get more '80s than this! Seriously though: It looks like it was kept in a rather damp environment, judging from those screws, the separated fingerboard binding and the peeling finish. It needs some work, and the right loving home because this is definitely niche! It's also really cool though, and USA-made Jacksons have always been built to a very high standard so I'm sure it's lovely. It looks like it's mostly the clearcoat that's flaking, and most of the graphic is still in place? I don't think Sims do finish work anymore, but only pickups and LEDs these days? That's a shame, I couldn't think of a better man for the job.
  16. Bought a pickup from @Grassie Perfect purchase, great item, fast shipping, and excellent comms. Cheers Grant, much appreciated 👍
  17. Today
  18. My Gear4Music Chicago 5 string weighs in at 6.5 pounds and feels very good on the strap.
  19. Germfree Adolescents - X-Ray Spex
  20. NBD! Back with Yamaha again but went with the Ice Blue BB434. Sticking with 4s now. Might get a clear pickguard or a vintage white. 3.4kg bass, my shoulder is happy!
  21. Stuff like that is eminently possible, but I can’t see that most folks would want it to come at the expense of the engage/bypass switch. Besides, that has other functionality (tuner and access to global menu) that would become inaccessible due to long-press-to-scroll if replacing it with program down.
  22. GuitarGuitar now have all 4 different finishes of this in at £3499 (!!!) Doesnt seem like many (if any...?) have shifted from any of the UK dealers?
  23. The Stanley Brothers - Mountain Dew
  24. I'd done a cursory search, but hadn't yet tried various Reddit and Gearspace threads that might have been more promising. I suspected that it might be possible to recreate some things manually, but TBH that's more messing about than I am prepared to undertake for the sake of a few interesting looking Kontakt-based instruments. It a pity because the Logic Sampler instrument is great, but could do with some updated conversion utilities like the Akai sampler library one that would even allow the Mac to read Akai formatted discs to make them available for the conversion process.
