Tonight I trimmed the plastic face plates and re-glued them at the ends, fitted the knobs, and labelled all the DC power nodes (A, B, C, and D) on the board. I checked the circuit against the scematic and found a couple of issues: An output valve connection that had somehow escaped soldering, so that it was just hanging loose - not a great idea! Remember this post where I had a couple of 2.2nF caps but 'realised' I needed 22nF and had to order some? No, 2.2nF was right, I just wrote it wrong on the layout! I'm having some last-minute thoughts about fuse values. Based on the transformers from the donor amp, I think it would be T1.6A for mains and F2A for the HT.

Immo started following 4-Pos/3-Pole Rotary Switch for two pickup wiring

I'm looking to ditch the Jazz-style wiring on my P+P bass, because it doesn't work the way it should, rolling down one volume essentially makes its pickup inaudible anyway. I want to swap one pot to a 4-position rotary switch that will enable switching between: Neck PU only, both PUs in Parallel, both PUs in Series, Bridge pickup only. I searched online and can't seem to find a wiring diagram nor a thread on forum/Reddit/etc. that understands that mission, and I could've sworn that before the search engines suffered a major episode of enpoopification, the diagram WAS there. Anyway, I made a crude diagram myself and just want to make sure it's legit. My ADHD brain sometimes just won't cooperate with such focused tasks. Any help and feedback would be appreciated.

Someone sent me this transcription, I reviewed and reformatted it. Only afterward did I notice it was already on your website. I still have several others I’ve prepared in the past that I was planning to post, Tipatina's is just one example.

If I haven't lived in a yellow submarine, or got my kicks on Route 66, or can't remember the summer of '69, there are certain songs I can't play because I can't relate to them? 🫤

I fitted a Retrovibe Stinger '77 preamp in mine and it sounds great with the original pickup. So much better than the indistinct mush of the original preamp. I really must get around to shimming the pots with a couple of washers - the knobs sit too proud at the moment

I thought I would bring up this thread again. I went onto the online Musicman spare parts site and actually located the socket I required, priced at £3.10p, I proceeded to fill out my name and address and moved on to the payment section, this is what I discovered. Input Jack £3.10p UPS £30.59p Duties, Taxes & Fees £9.23p What an absolute joke, the total cost of getting a £3.10p part to me in the U.K. is £42.92p

The Cure - Mixes of a Lost World. I’ve been going to listen to this album for yonks, but never did until today. Why didn’t I listen to it much sooner?! The remixes are fantastic.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there - playing stuff influenced by styles / genres is the right way to tackle this, it's very different to playing direct covers. Jamming on an afro-beat inspired groove feels much less cringe worthy than doing a Fela Kuti impression. -

This lovely condition 2023 Aubergine Fender American Performer Mustang is up for sale/trade. It's been with me for a few months and is set up beautifully with 40-95 Elixirs (Fender use 40-100 as standard on these.) This Mustang plays like a dream and is in excellent condition with no scratches or dings that I can see. It has only been used for one set on one gig in our live tribute show, so it's not earning its keep and therefore has to go. Comes complete with bill of sale from original owner and the original Fender Deluxe Gig Bag & case candy. The American Performer Mustang is also another instrument in the line (since the Highway 1 series Jazz/Precision) which utilises the 'Grease Bucket' tone control, which lowers tone without losing bass/volume. Using both P&J pickups with the tone control dimed, it sounds like a hyper-jazz bass. Switch to the split coil and turn the tone down to about 70% & you get a very good traditional Mustang/Precision sound. Solo the bridge single coil, halve the tone and you're in burpy Jaco land. It's a very adaptable bass. I would record you a demo, but I'll let 'Nick Campbell Destroys' do the honours below - he does a much better job than me! For sale at £825. (Recommended retail price on these is now nearly £1400 these days!) Interesting trade options considered. Buyer to collect, or can meet half way at a distance of up to 100 miles (total distance of up to 200 miles from DE7.)

Superb Rob, took me back to being a kid again. Loved Mr Benn plus you added the full programme of Mr Benn and not just the intro music. Dave

Thank you. I looked him up and found a video of him. That could be the guy. Some of the fills he played sound strikingly similar.

Linux support for Surface devices has improved massively in recent years and Ubuntu has a touch friendly GUI, the patched Surface kernel has pretty much everything working on most models. Can see what might be a dealbreaker here: https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/wiki/Supported-Devices-and-Features#feature-matrix Another option would be to install the Ghost Spectre version of Windows 11, I have it on my Surface Go 1 (8/128) and it's much faster, sits at 2.6gb ram usage after boot.

I listen to Fela Kuti fairly often, and I think I'd feel pretty uncomfortable if I was on stage playing Zombie with a white British guy singing the lyrics, especially given the amount of pidgin Kuti used. I would absolutely play stuff influenced by that style, but singing those actual songs feels a step further than I'd be comfortable with. Though I'm not claiming any great virtue on this type of thing - a couple of decades ago I played with one or two bands that dipped into other cultures in a "middle class white kids playing dress-up" way that I still cringe to think about. -
That all sounds pretty sucky; best of luck with whichever the new project turns out to be, sir.

Sold a couple of bits to Paul, aka @Shepster8316. Amazing to deal with, instant payment and great comms. Deal with complete confidence. 👍👌

No, there have been battles for “control” over the last 2 years. They’ve all been in a band together before I came in. I write most of the ideas and then they’re developed… Singer and Drummer have asked that we carry on without them and I’m in with that. But I think the main error was allowing the guitarist to mix the album. He wasn’t asked to, he just sort of started doing it. And the old “my precious” stuff kicked in. So, listen - I’m not being threatened, can’t be arsed with that. I said my piece and I’ve walked. Played with a new band on Monday, might keep that going while working with singer and drummer on new stuff… Or just help that band cross the line at a gig next month and refocus on my stuff with Drummer and Singer…
