.....and in the curiously predictable way in which this forum operates, I just bough back the neck of the Jazz Bass that I sold Tony, making real on my prophesy.... ......although let's be honest, probably a case of "Me, the thirteenth Duke of Wimborne, with my reputation.....?' When you deal with Tony, you're dealing with a professional at every level, simple as that 👍

Black Fender P Player Bass with in beautiful condition. The Player series are a step up from the ordinary! Serial number MX18005295. June 2018 They say: There's nothing more classic than a Fender electric bass, and the Player Precision Bass is as authentic as it gets - genuine Fender style and the rumbling, seismic sound that spawned a thousand imitations. With its smooth playing feel and spotlight-ready style, this thunderous bass is ready to enter the studio or prowl the stage and help show the world your creative vision. It’s been well set up. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. The electrics have been sprayed with Contact Spray, so they work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. The neck has been treated with lemon oil so it’s clean and ‘fed’. Free postage No case £550 Chaddesden, Derby DE21 4JJ All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia.

There's a specific WANTED section in the classifieds that might get you better results than 1 post in a long thread about shorties. Good luck! -

gary mac started following BehringerEurolive B205D PA Monitor Speaker
-
Another retirement sale item. Very useful, versatile piece of equipment. I purchased it to use as a personal monitor when gigging with a four piece. Used it for one gig where it performed perfectly and really made all the difference. After that gig the band splashed out on some decent wedges, so this became redundant. It's been safely stored since then. A bit of blurb from Behringer: The ultra-compact B205D packs 150 Watts of amazing Class-D sound into a speaker system so light, you can mount it on a mic stand and aim it right at your ears – for the perfect personal monitor. But don’t let the small size fool you – the B205D cranks out truckloads of high-quality sound; more than enough to serve as a PA system for your more intimate gigs and meetings – and it comes packed with features that will simply blow you away! Price is £75 collected. If you need it posted, let me know and I'll get a price.

Facebook has its uses, but yes - anyone who thinks it can replace a traditional forum is kidding themselves. Far too difficult to navigate for any sort of long term retention of the information compiled in a page, and frankly these days far too full of all sorts of horrendous hate speech and other filth... I use it very sparingly. The FB Purity browser plug-in makes it much easier to deal with. I now have a go-to page which has *only* my actual FB "friends"' posts on it, in the order they are made, and all there. Similar links for groups and pages I use. Filters out all those endless sponsored posts and ragebait FB sends you. I only have to glance at the site on my phone now to see how much better it is with the plugin in place. Next best thing to FB being replaced by some sort of social network that isn't run by horrible people pandering to the worst of humanity. -
Just a heads up, the Bass pack for ToneX is down to £49.99 at the moment. Seems a bit more reasonable.

Harley Benton are a real contender. Generally speaking, a HB for about £200 is the equivalent quality wise of anything else at double that (to do with their business model, you're basically buying direct at wholesale prices). Buy quick when you see a lefty, though - they don't always last. I'm holding out for them doing something in their high end (about £400) in a post-57 P or (and!) J style. They showed some really sharp looking nitro-finished relics at Namm last year. I'm hoping they'll put those into product, but with the option of a non-relic finish. Those would be Player-killers. I'm indifferent to nitro v polyurethane (well done) myself, but if they put out a nitro instrument at that price range, I think it would be huge in the market. Sire are pretty impressive too with their range, though to that I add the caveat that there are a lot of the models I wouldn't go for myself as I don't like actives, and you have to be fine with the slight but noticeable tweaks they make to the classic bodyshapes. I don't see that as a bad thing myself, but it could be an issue for some. In teems of something playable at rock bottom price, though, it has to be the Harley Benton PB-51. Might well weaken and buy one of those myself; I wanted a Classic Vibe 50s P Bass badly, but Fender don't think left handers are interested in anything other than a very basic Strat or Tele.

Last actual gig was the Saw Doctors at Hammersmith Apollo (or whatever corporate nonsense name it now has. Eventim?), with original bass player Pearse Doherty now back in the band as of this last couple of years. Last event with a bass player was last night at the Walthamstow Rock and Roll Book Club's event at the Red Lion Hotel (in, er.... Leytonstone). Some in these parts might have heard of this as it was the venue for an early Led Zeppelin gig, among other big names in that world. Last night's session was a Q&A with Mickey Bradley, bass player of the Undertones. Lots of fun, he's a funny guy. Mickey's the one on the right. Ignore the ninny on the left. (That would be me. I am the ninny.)

DB5 started following Fender American Standard 2014 VGC £1050
-
Immaculate 2014 Fender American Standard Precision with the best spec of this series: lightweight tuners, custom shop pickups, etc. Weight 4.0kg. The condition is almost mint, just a slight rough edge on headstock. The previous owner (from the band Vomit) had a black pickguard fitted at the time of purchase from Thomann and left a colourful set of stickers on the case! I have the Thomann box for shipping. Set up by the Gallery with Slinky flats. Fender case and candy plus strap locks, which were fitted for a time. I've used it for a couple theatre shows with lots of positive comments but it's not getting played enough, hence the sale. Price £1050 plus courier or collect from East Finchley London N2.

If you know the notes of chords, you can walk. First you should learn two beat (two half notes per bar, I and V), and then four beat (quarters, play I I V III). Say you see a C7, you play C E G Bb (I III V VII upwards) or C Bb G E (I VII V III downwards). The next chord gives you the first note, and the position in the fretboard suggests the direction, up or down. Then you can modify the walk by octaves, triplets and other melodic, and rhythmic ideas. Do not forget two, and four beat here. Start with a slow version of Autumn leaves. Listen to it a couple of times. Find the chords and start playing. Make it slow, starting from two beat, and you'll amaze yourself.
