  1. Past hour
  2. I may have misread this post, but the bridge in the photo isn’t the factory bridge for these.
  3. I had the same problem in quite a few venues with BF cabs (2 X TWO10) all as recently as this year. I can empathise too as there were people who just didn't get it, told me to turn up, asked me if I was deaf, or just ridiculed the situation and didn't take it seriously. I don't get the problem at all since moving to an LFSys Monaco. I can hear myself, the band can hear me and it'll go as loud as I'll never need. There's no unmiked drum kit that will be louder and if the kit has mics then my amp will be DI'd along with it.
  4. Personally, I'd leave the 'Claw Bridge' on. It looks very individual and cool. Definitely a talking point.
  5. It really is a great pedal
  6. I have some boxes, so could consider posting this…..
  7. As @SurroundedByManatees mentioned, the bridge was not factory fitted, but is an add-on, I remember owning a set of original Fender brass knobs still in their packaging that I gave to a friend needing them and they were so heavy!?! You now have to search for the original bridge which is the one fitted (not the packed one) on this fully original 1982 (aka Dan Smith era) Fender Precision Bass Special and you can also try to find the original ashtrays while you're at it.. If you look at the image above, you'll understand that the two outer holes on your bridge were meant to align with the bridge cover holes. 😉 Just in case you want to read the Fender ad provided, again, by @SurroundedByManatees, here it is: My main question is: How much does the whole bass weigh as, with all that brass, it must quite heavy? I guess around 5 kilos or even more...
  8. I learned about fake books from my double bass teacher. He had me buy a Jazz fake book and each lesson we played a game where I would flip the pages of the book and stop at a random tune/song and I would have to improvise a bass line to it.
  9. Can you tell me the nut width on this one? Is it by any chance the slimmer 38mm version?
  10. that's the numbers i recall
  11. @WHUFC BASS Thanks for taking the time to write down these memories. You never know when words or thoughts may take you back to someone you loved so much. The gig was at the Tower Hotel. There are some frankly excellent recordings of this gig online. I recall him saying the piano was recorded via a shoddy plastic microphone found in the office drawer… https://soundcloud.com/matthewcanty1988/sets/tower-hotel-1991/s-sDtnDbnGwrA As you say, it was some tone he had!
  12. Christmas gig with BLOCKBUSTARZ Glam at Longstone Hearts club in Edinburgh. Its a small intimate club and only holds up to 80 with only a few unsold tickets for the night. We know they're struggling to get money in for the club and we've deliberately kept our price same since we first played there about 3 yrs ago to try and help keep them going. Was a bit of an odd one as we had dancers from the first song but our Xmas songs had none ? Never seen that before even tho we played well. Only Xmas song they were up for was the Wizard one "I Wish It Could Be Xmas" and even then it was only 7 or 8 people. Last song (encore) dance floor was crammed full and they were all shouting for more but we had a time limit from the organiser. Plenty of pics / vids being taken tho so that's always good. As a band we thoroughly enjoyed the gig and were having a great laugh on stage. No major mistakes with just a few wee mishaps that only we noticed. 4 Xmas songs in the set for the next few gigs. Usual gear Sandberg MarloweDK because its Xmasy looking in red and white - Shure GXLD wireless - Keeley Bassist comp - Handbox WB-100 - Barefaced 212 cab. Quite enjoying the Marlowe at the last couple of gigs. It has a nice growl thru the WB-100. Easy drive home with hardly another car on the country roads on way home which was a nice relaxing drive and home by 2am for my ritual coffee and tea biccie before beddy by bo time. Dave
  13. Sold Nigel a preamp, nice and easy!

  20. Anyone knkw where I can get these cheaper than £20? One at £20 is fine but think 3 is starting to stretch my budget. https://amzn.eu/d/5YMSWkE 4way IEC splitter.
  21. one of my local venues - great place!
  22. I eventually bought a Gator, which works fine for me as the bass always travels in the back seat. Just like me to forget to update the post!!! Cheers Charla
