  2. 1. Proper vintage Aston Martin DB5 – ejector seat n all 2. Lifetime supply of Laphroaig 18, no blended shite 3. Private island off the Hebrides, windy, quiet, zero neighbours 4. Full workshop, every tool known to man (and a few that ain’t) 5. World peace… or a mute button for the group chat 😂
  3. Has anyone come up with a way of automatically converting Kontakt Player instruments to work with Logic's ES24/Sampler? Having had a poor experience with NI in the past and also having made a decision not to have any 3rd-party plug-ins that require me to install anything other than the plug-in itself, I'm not going to install Kontakt Player, which means that I've missed out on a couple of interesting instruments that have come up recently that I might have wanted to explore.
  4. Thanks for the welcome, all. J: What a lovely reply - thanks for taking the time! You're right about lessons being a way of holding you responsible. At a bare minimum it means I practice when I'm feeling less motivated - though I'm in a hot streak currently (maybe it's a virtuous cycle??) I guess I could be a bit more pro-active with setting goals with the teacher. Maybe he expects me to lead the lesson's direction more than I currently do. Playing with others is a long term goal for me and I know it will improve my playing a lot and very quickly. I'm currently working out scheduling for a jam with a few friends of friends - let's see how that goes. Their stuff feels quite melancholy and incredibly earnest which isn't normally my thing but I'm approaching it with an open mind and good intentions. Thanks, Joe
  5. Can't really remember, but Jonas Hellborg wanted more headroom than the 18 Volts preamp, so IIRC, it's a full blast 36 Volts, not a distributed power.
  6. These are such good basses and go under the radar - the contours and feel are to die for and produce a massive and brilliant sound
  7. I have to say I played another Dingwall recently and it sounded a bit generic.
  8. It did. I drove him to the hosptial a couple of times and it was great to be able to help and actually get some proper time with him and my sister - had a few laughs as we drove into UCLH and back. We lost him in August. Two teenage kids left behind. It's not been a great year for our family but they're strong and supported amazing friends - it's been incredible to see people pull together to get through.
  9. Temporary Fix - One Direction
  10. Trying to find an accurate chord structure for this, without much success. One of the bands I am working with are doing it, but the chord structure I was given isn’t right, neither is anything I can find online. I can pretty much get to the solo, but the solo seems so random, and to me, makes no sense. If any has any tips or ideas I would be most grateful! Cheers Stuart
  11. I wasn't there unfortunately. Although I prefer smaller venues in general, I quite like the O2. Easy to get to from where I am, the facilities are good and the accessibility is great for those who are disabled. The sound can be hit and miss, especially if you are sitting up in the gods, but live sound generally is patchy at best in all venues. I'm up for going @hiram.k.hackenbacker If you are.
  12. Sorry to hear that too man. Glad you got to see him afterwards though. That must have meant a lot.
  13. Nice bit of crazed fusion from 1993, featuring Tuba Bass!!
  14. Last Christmas me and my partner came down with full-blown flu a couple of days before Christmas and we were unable to join my family. We knew it was my brother in law's last one (he was in the same situation as your brother) but we were both so unwell we coud not join them. We got to spend good time with them after but I hated missing that holiday with him. I hope you enjoy your Christmas.
  15. It's not the pickguard. It's the body shape that's completely off.
  16. I found the same with my Dingwall. The passive tone control is hugely useful too.
  17. Thank you! Your bass looks amazing. I have been fortunate enough to own a number of basses in the past, but this is the first Status.I couldn't believe the variations of different sounds you can get out of them.
  18. Just stunning.
  19. Today
  20. Yeah, I do remember it has a Neve preamp. Personally, I've never played a Dingwall that I liked the sound of, though I grant his did sound better than the usual personality free, insipid tone Dingwalls usually have. Not massively though.
  21. Not at all, choice of mic is much more personal than choosing a bass. The Senny e945 is an excellent mic and I'd probably choose that if I didn't play bass whilst singing. My e935 is more forgiving and I'm loud enough that feedback is rarely an issue. Nothing wrong with EV or Audiotechnica either. All great choices. I've an old EV ND 757 which could be the best sounding mic I have but the plastic handle is decaying and held together with shrink wrap so stays at home. We are lucky to have such a wide range of choices of mic with some truly great mics in the £100-200 price bracket.
  22. My band 'Shreds.' (hardcore punk) are playing in London and Brighton this coming weekend! If you're around please drop by to check us out, and say 'hello'!
