Electronics / USB power issues - can someone help?
Richard R replied to carlsim's topic in Repairs and Technical
I think @itu is right. A standard 9V battery can't supply huge amounts of current, and between any losses in the step-down circuit and the start-up draw of the pedal it probably can't cope. You can try it from the 9V pedal supply, that ouught to be able to handle the startup current. If that doesn't work then it may be the lighter circuit is a problem. A 9V-5V converter is only a few quid on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Converter-Module-Transformer-Voltage-Regulator/dp/B09B829DL9 It's also designed for the job. If none of that works then an alternative could be to use a USB power bank as the 5V supply, strapped under the pedalboard. -

NBD: Cort GB5 Modern - A black Friday bargain!!

Wicked deal. -
I saw them on Thomann at that price and had to do a double take - what a bargain, I’d love to have one of these in the rack for that money! It said 1-2 weeks for stock tho when I saw it, so I couldn’t buy, Cort basses are so wildly underrated it’s not even funny! Between this and the NJS you probably have the two best sub £1000 basses available at the moment

+1 to not over-tighten the locking screws(A). I did that on one of mine on my 1989 Ibanez SR800LE and it fractured the saddle. Trying to find another new or used 206/omni-adjust bridge is near impossible so I had to repair using JB Weld. The only other viable option would be a bridge replacement for something more modern. Luckily the repair has held so far and I just leave well alone now.

You can get colour matching wax filler that you melt into the holes, like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325271292000. I used it when I was drilling new pickup screw holes on a bass and carelessly went right through, and the repair is completely invisible.

Classic Japanese OC-2. Fully working. Cosmetically quite rough (reflected in the price). I don’t know the exact age and I’m not sure whether the ACA → 9V mod has been done, however: • Works perfectly on battery • Works perfectly when powered from my TU-3 (daisy-chain) • Tracks as expected and sounds exactly as an OC-2 should Currently fitted with a different BOSS base plate with Velcro on it, but includes the original rubber base and screws. No original box or manual. £150 UK postage: £10 Happy to meet in / around Edinburgh, or post at buyer’s cost

Had a good one. Took my Squier Standard Jazz with old style mutes to do Brown Eyed Girl (sorry... it's actually a lot of fun to play). Some fun new songs, Be Good to Yourself, I'm a Man, Roxette... Also took my Epiphone Embassy... singer and guitarist's eyes nearly popped out, then they heard it. Begged me to play it at gigs!
