  2. It's small, it's light, it's loud and you can do a proper gig with it! I've had this for a few years and it's never had any trouble keeping up with any drummer and even done a good job in a medium-sized pub. I've taken these specs from the Thomann site: New York 121 1 x 12" loudspeaker Piezo tweeter 400 Watt @ 8 Ohm Frequency range: 45 - 18,000 Hz Weight: 13.3 kg (less than 29lb)for people who think in pints and stones Dimensions (WxHxD): 383 x 432 x 358 mm and you can find reviews here https://www.thomann.co.uk/markbass_new_york_121.htm and here https://www.andertons.co.uk/markbass-new-york-ny121-1x12-bass-cab/ Condition is pretty darn good. Sounds spot-on, the fuzzy covering is in lovely nick (I'm not going to pretend its from a pet-free home but it's avoided any attention from the cat due to being kept under it's lovely sunggly cover for it's life with me when not use). The tweeter works too. I am very, very happy to demo it at mine in New Cross, London SE14, or I'll bring it to you when I'm in work near Euston but it's heavy enough to be annoying carrying it so when I've taken it to gigs I've wheeled it behind me on a trolley (I've done a few with my rig and bass coming with me on the London underground or a bus). I am perfectly happy to post it as I've got plenty of packing materials and it's a sturdy little thing. I'm not really looking for trades as I've got more basses than I have space for, I dont need an amp or cabs - again, no space really - and I'm covered when it comes to pedals. I would take a high quality power block as a trade in though, one that has proper discrete supplies and can power at least one 500ma item. Maybe a slightlly bigger pedal board thing - the one I've got is diddy. Any questions please reach out and I'll be happy to help.
  3. Well I've risked it on over a hundred gigs since I bought it a couple of years back, and have not been tempted to upgrade just yet, particularly as my first nicer tablet got trashed on its first outing by a drunken punter at a fancy function gig knocking over my mic stand! But you'll get better quality from an iPad, for sure.
  4. A cracking video from Lonnie explaining LHZ Haz clone vs Darkglass Legacy. It answers a lot of questions for me. Enjoy.
  5. I have a East MMSR preamp I'm keen to get fitted into my Musicman USA sub but just haven't found the time to do this yet. Having read the instructions on the East website I'm not 100% on what I connect where. From my understanding the pickup goes into the solderless connections on the bass/treble board (first empty set of connections to the left of the pot on the right in my picture). The wire coming off the jack presumably needs to join the current earth. But where does the battery need to be connected? Is there any risk of frying this if I get it wrong? Any help much appreciated!
  6. I nearly had to cancel last nights gig due to the drummer messaging me to inform me that he had no drums * 🙄. Anyway, a few phone calls later, I'd got a pro drum tutor on board. This guy is probably one of the best that I have had the pleasure to play with. Cracking gig, three piece blues / rock trio, local pub. * Drum kit in loft, loft hatch won't open. Joiner didn't turn up due to illness, err ok.
  7. Thanks chaps - good to know even a cheapo Android tablet has been reliable. Slightly hesitant to risk it on a gig! But a standard iPad seems within the realms of affordability, and assuming that Apple batteries and OS tend to be pretty stable. Couple of questions if you don't mind: Is it easy or even possible to swap devices to, say, a second tablet or indeed a phone as backup if the main controller goes wrong? Also, is a wired connection possible while charging the tablet? Or would I have to use wireless in that scenario? I will definitely take a look at Mixing Station as well, thanks for the tip.
  8. Sherwood Green Metallic 8lb 10 oz. Unusual 12 inch radius Rosewood fretboard, satin maple neck, microtilt. TBX pot has been removed & standard tone pot now fitted. Much better imo. Apologies for photos. 1 tiny lacquer crack next to neck, 1 tiny dimple on top chamfer, both circled in yellow on photos. Anything else is reflections. Thinnest worst Fender "gigbag" ever. Google Low End Lobster video review. Lovely bass. TRADES/OFFERS, sorry, no. COURIER. Yes if buyer organises & pays. Sorry, UK only. Feedback available. Thanks for looking, Karl.

  14. Stained black ACG.....where have I seen that before? 😜 That's going to be a monster, mate! Can't wait to see the finished article.
  15. Think of it a different way.... The sound guy has had several bands worth of playing beforehand to get the bass and drum kit mixed really well out front. So you should have had a great sound. If you used you're rig he'd be starting from scratch again. I do agree though, always underpowered and inaudible for some reason....

  17. Up for sale - an Electro Harmonix 24v Bass MicroSynth. Full of analog goodness. Not just good - good for you!! If you're looking at this, you know what it does. Definitely leagues better sounding, and feeling, than the smaller 9V versions. Hard to put a price on this - some insane £900+ prices on eBay. Quite a few in the £600-800 range. NOW £290 plus postage is more sensible.

  18. which necks are you using?
  19. Mint condition Boss GKC-DA interface for controlling and playing Boss 13pin units VG99, GK33, GP-10 etc using the newer GK-5 pickup. i.e. SERIAL to 13PIN I'd already sold my GP-10 by the time it arrived, so it's never been used. Lived in it's box, in a cupboard, in a smoke free home. Still boxed with PSU. Willing to post. Any questions, please ask. This may be also be advertised elsewhere.
  20. I’ve got a lovely AVRI 64 Jazz. It’s nice n light but a bit neck heavy. Can I get lightweight tuners that look like the original or is it a matter of me swapping them for mor modern looking lightweight things?
  21. Having replaced this very lightly used (never left our smoke free home) Roland Vdrum kickpad with the the extortionate KDQ-8, this is no longer required. So it's up for grabs. If required, I could post it if we work out a price. It's in excellent condition and working perfectly, and I'll clean the dust off too (only just noticed !) Any questions, let me know.
  22. I had the bog-standard Gen 9 model (I think) iPad before I got my CQ20B, and it has been fine. According to the App Store, you need at least iPadOS 15 to run A&H's MixPad app. Many CQ users run Mixing Station, a third party app that will control most of the digital mixers, and is favoured by many professional sound techs. The reason is that it is multiplatform so you can buy a licence for each mixer and set the UI up to suit yourself. Mixing Station still runs perfectly on iOS 11 or Android 5 devices. The cost of Mixing Station for the CQ is £9.99 so not outrageous.
  23. Well I said it sounds like a P-bass but some boy on TalkBS tells me that's impossible and would I kindly re-string the bass with zingy roundwounds, somehow it'll better reflect the pink and blue lines he's drawn on graph paper. Boy is a genius, doesn't need to play your bass or know what pickups you used. Nope, one look at a picture tells him "there's a 20dB drop off in the higher Mids" 😳 He could be right or maybe my penchant for single coil P-bass gives me a different view on "sounds like a P-bass" 😁 Anyway, I'm sticking with like a P-bass and have vowed to never read another TalkBS post by someone on my "ignore member" list, they're on the list for a reason 😁 Should say it's not the loudest P-bass so I'll likely try the coils in pairs.
