Hello, Does anyone know if the TonePrint module in the BH250 is placed in the circuit before or after the EQ section, and whether it can be edited via laptop nowadays? Thanks

Thanks for all the feedback and advice. We’ve had a luthier look at it and taken on board lots of advice. It’s a serious project and one my husband is going to slowly renovate with support from a luthier. He has lots of experience with other instruments and woodwork in general so with support we feel this will be a nice long term project.

Just me reflecting again on this thread, if you got an active bass, a preamp / pedals, EQ on your amp (and / or maybe even going into a desk) then most of us are playing through 3 or four stages of tone / EQ adjustments, its no wonder it gets confusing (for me anyway). It makes me wonder how much of my bass am I actually hearing and how much is just electronics e.g. I wonder how many times I have cranked the treble on active bass without realising I have it turned down somewhere else in the signal chain, probably a lot of the time Conspiracy theory : maybe we are all secretly playing exactly the same sounding bass and the only difference is in the electronics and we are being scammed by bass manufacturers

Double bass rebuild - not for the faint of heart!
Hellzero replied to The Guitar Weasel's topic in EUB and Double Bass
The (hard to find) EMG single string pickups fitted this way on my Leduc EUB 6 called Moaï are working really good even with the bow (that I play badly, of course) and are height adjustable to fine tune the tone and output. There are also 6 RMC piezos in the bridge with a dedicated RMC preamp and the EMG summing preamp and both can be blended at will thanks to the twin volume/tone configuration. That said the low B bowed can destroy a poorly made speaker, but it's working really well as the sensing area is bigger... Just add a bit of piezos for crispness and you get a really realistic tone thanks to the patented floating Leduc top of the U-Basse adapted here. It was a six (according to Christophe Leduc) to seven (according to me as I factor in the year of discussion and ideas trials) years built. -

Thanks, Jolltax. Proper notation is so much more useful than tab but there is a dearth of material to learn on. that's why I include easy tunes as well as more demanding one. Beautiful music doesn't have to be hard to play or hard to read.

I bought one with a Rosewood board in 1983, it cost me £249 inc a case, it relegated my 78 Fender to back up. Sadly life got in the way in 1990 and I had to sell it, along with the rest of my gear. The best Bass I've ever owned!

This is a wonderful bass in very good condition. It was purchased new from Bass Direct and has never been gigged. I will also throw in a Bass Direct hard case, purchased at the time. I'm reluctantly selling for financial reasons, so please do not offer trades. Here's the current Bass Direct advert, which lists it at a new price of £2699 The bass I'm selling is exactly the same spec. Each scratch guard has a unique pattern. It comes with a factory-fitted Hipshot drop-D Extender. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/sandberg-california-ii-ida-nielsen-4/ Here's the Sandberg blurb: A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy, Ida Nielsen became known to audiences around the world as Prince’s bass player. For her virtuoso style between funky slaps and pushing grooves, she has for some time been swearing by electric basses from the Braunschweig cult smithy Sandberg, who have tailored her a signature bass according to her ideas with the Sandberg California TM4 Ida Nielsen. Accordingly, the classically constructed four-string has a bird’s-eye maple fretboard, Sandberg Black Label pickups with active 2-band tone control and a D-tuner for lightning-fast drop-tunings. The Spec: •Origin: Germany •Body Wood: Alder •Colour: Black •Finish: Soft Aged •Neck Finish: Satin •Neck Material: Birdseye Maple •Fingerboard: Birdseye Maple •Pickups: Sandberg Black Label •Preamp: Sandberg 2 Band •Pickguard: Black •Hardware: Gold + Hipshot Extender •Frets: 22 •String Spacing: 19mm •Nut Width: 40mm •Scale Length: 34” •Weight: 8lb11oz/3.95kg

Interesting topic at everyone's heart - thanks for posting. Like many I'm a creature of habit, and usually start a gig with some mid scoop on my amp ?? without trying to find out what the room needs. Then spend the first set tweaking. That said even when I have had nice basses with the great flexible pre- Amps. I find myself never altering the Pan from center, I rarely boost bass or treble, but find the bass's Para-mid my go to adjustment, song to song. My main working bass for about 12 years was a Shuker with soap bars and a 5 knob East pre, with a passive tone knob. just used that and the Para-mid. I Just got a Sadowsky NYC with soap bars, the organic tone of the bass is amazing in the Low, low- Mids. Again Pan stays center, It doesn't need any active boost Low or High with Amp set flat. Love it in Passive mode. Just getting used to having no Para - mid. I did get into a conversation with John E. about having a pre -amp with just a Vol, pan, + 2 Para mids. I think it would be really useful tool on any bass.

Unfortunately, I no longer have it. I bought this bass on Ebay recently and am totally blown away. I've owned loads of basses, USA Precisions, Road Worn series, Fender Japan but this trumps them all in my opinion. To me it feels like the perfect bass. I may be being hysterical but I literally can't put it down and have had it for a month now. Wow!!

A very cool version of his big 80's hit. Wonderful groove, good band, great vocals all round, and some nice Bass playing from Nashville Bassist, Jacob Lowery: An interview with Jacob:
