This is a set on my '65 Jazz. They are excellent. -

I was looking on my phone, so missed the subtlety of the design. On my computer I can see that the screw on the front (C) allows for the the lateral movement of the part of the bridge over which the string passes. Fiendish! 🙂

The good news is that the SPB4 pups (I have a set) are themselves very nicely built with properly earthed pole pieces! Tonally they are quite different to the vintage voicing of the SPB1 - they have a pronounced low-mid bump and less highs. Very nice pickups with a distinct vibe, but not as 'general purpose' as a regularly voiced P.

The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm

Up for sale is this very nice Yamaha QY700. This one has a bright upgraded screen, all buttons working and flawless operation. It's also upgraded with a GOTEK drive to store as many sequences as you can throw at it. It's pretty much future-proofed for a good while. A rock solid workhorse, this is a great centrepiece for a DAWLess set up. Only selling as I have another sequencer that's smaller This is a great piece of classic tech. Famously used by Squarepusher. It's a lovely sequencer with a tweakable GM library (but I only use it to drive external gear)- very powerful and solid as a rock timing-wise. Perfect for those who want to get away from screens.

Up for sale is this beautiful 12 bit sampler from around 1988. It's a Roland S550 with 8 separate outs and a top end GOTEK drive (with LCD screen) ready stocked with most of the available sample libraries and several hundred blank floppies. The sound in the video is the classic 'Air' choir. The library runs the full gamut of Roland's offering plus lots of other stuff including drum machines/ synths. acoustic instruments etc It's very powerful with the multiple outs. Monitor included. It's B/W and is essential for running the S550 to its full extent. It's in great nick and includes the original box and a manual etc It's a fantastic piece of gear and sounds very good indeed, but I need to streamline due to lack of space. Apologies for the rubbish pic of the back, it's a bit close to the wall for a wide shot but it looks nice and clean and, most importantly, all the outputs work! Pick up only nr Tun Wells/Ashford IMG_4455.mov

Use off cuts of string as a gauge. Fine wet & dry round a string off cut? I have used a round needle file - turning round at the appropriate width, rather back and forth where just the odd nut slot needed attention. I wonder if something in the Model Making world might fit the bill for hobby or infrequent use.

So, will you be keeping the ES-60, or would this be a deal-breaker for you? Is it working as a home piano, for you and your family?
