I understand, it probably looks like I am trying to put a sneaky new add up.lol
-
Hi.Paid £7 for the add been on since May,just wanted to change the pics as I changed the scratch plate, maybe as you say does not entitle me to change all the pics ,I can see the logic,
-
Thanks Pete, The crazy thing is that it plays & sounds at least ‘as good’ as a custom jobbie Rob made for me around ten years ago at over five times the price! & being very ‘Old School’ - I actually prefer the dry woody sound of this one + wang the bridge pickup wide open & we’re in Jaco territory - the sound that is, definitely not my playing😂😂🙈🙈👍…

Can't provide you all you need to know, sorry, as I don't know everything, but I do see that, currently, you're not a paying member, which means you can not have a jazz for sale. Maybe this in part explains your editing troubles (not that I understood everything you wrote). Did you put the ad up when you were a paying member previously?

Not particularly thought about bowing ... but I would have thought a blade design powered up by neodymium magnet/magnets would keep a more steady volume/response (with possible air gapping between magnet and blade to reduce string pull). Possibly one curved blade to conform to the string arc and a second hum cancelling coil using large diameter alnico magnets. Always prepared to have a crack at designing something. I've been working with hybrid material magnet arrays for years in pickups designed for technical metal ... there are always spin offs 🙂

OK I've posted threads for SR4 narrow nut and SR5 necks (could be narrow or orginal)
-
Modelled on the Classic 5 neck on my own bass. Can do either a narrower nut version (borrowing from a very comfortable Steinberger 5 string neck) or original flavour depending on interest. I'll post measurements and spec below tomorrow as it's a bit late here. But @Woodinblack and @crazycloud indicated interest. I'll take up an order slot myself if four deposits are recieved.

A Fender Precision fretless in Antigua finish from 1978. In version good condition for its age, and as far as I can tell, original condition except for the case. The case is a Thomann branded G&G style case and is in very good condition. There are some small chips in the finish that I have highlighted in the pics, and some scuffs in to the finish underneath the ash tray covers. Weight is 4.5kg. It’s a lovely playing instrument and one I really wouldn’t mind if it didn’t sell! Pickup from my home in SE19 preferred, but can courier at cost. Thanks for looking.

Amplified blues harmonica can really grate when overdone. Part of the problem is that many insist on cranking bigger amps than most guitarists use in those settings (often a 4x10" Fender Bassman derivative), the other thing is overblows. Overblows have some sort of prestige status as the advanced technique that a good player must have, so once players have mastered them they'll shoehorn them in wherever they can. But what overblows do is get you a harsh toned, usually slightly out of tune note that's outside of the key you're playing in, so absolutely excruciating if overused.

Harmonica and solo sax (as opposed to horn section) are predominantly lead instruments, and many of these players don't seem to know what to do when it's not 'their turn'. Really good players will be able to riff with the guitarist, which is why, if you find one that does, hang on to them!

@Leonard Smalls wireless is the answer; honest. Forgot it at my last two gigs and trod the cable out twice.

Great, narrow or original nut width? This is very much my aspiration, having owned four of them. I'm not sure how much of the Cutlass sound was due to the less rigid neck though. I guess we shall see, I'm definitely planning on getting an SR5 neck made for my Classic 5 and then it'll be the closest thing to a 5 string Cutlass out there, with the vintage eq. -
Lol oh. I played the eich t500 at the bass gallery last year. Sounded nice. If I remember correctly the eich has a similar feature of genzler contour.

I occasionally pick up my fretless, do a couple of slides, play the bass solo from Lost Horizons (Mo Foster in the first MSG album), noodle about for a while, and then put it back down to wait for the next occasion. One even rarer occasions, I pick up my Ashbory, but between its miniscue scale, being fretless, and rubber strings, it's almost impossible to play anything even remotely in tune.

Kiwi started following MM Stingray 4 graphite necks - 38mm nut £499
-
@Raslee and @RaNoFuNkY mentioned they would be interested in a narrow SR4 neck with a 38mm nut (and there are some wooden necked versions out there in the wild.) As I've mentioned in the other threads, I can only work in batches of 5 right now to keep the price reasonable. So if you would be interested in a narrow SR4 neck, let me know below.
