  2. And definitely not a 0. Despite my listing 0189 on my theoretical Xmas list, it was not comfortable to play, as bassbiscuits states.
  3. What’s the SFX Micro Energiser? Si
  4. None of the Brooks basses tend to be neck-heavy. Thanks to a combination of carefully selected materials and their arrangement: - Super light tuners. The modified Schaller GrandTune tuners for the octave strings weigh only 17 grams each. And the Gotoh GB350 tuners for the bass strings weigh only 39 grams each. - In addition, the rear strap-button is positioned well above the center of the bass, which shifts the center of gravity.
  5. Hi, just a quick one... I am currently selling a QSC K12.2 active speaker that I use as an FRFR speaker - some people list them in Amps and Cabs for sale, others list them in Accessories and Other Musical stuff for sale. I have listed mine in amps and cabs. Can i list it in both? I just wondered that was all as it kinda fits either... Although I'm sure the same parties peruse both sections, I was just curious as to whether it was against forums rules? Thanks!
  6. @Dazm66 "It's taken me long enough to play bass to a decent standard and I have no interest in learning keys to get those sounds" You've summed me up in a nutshell when it comes to synth bass! I'm currently leaning a little to the FI v4 VIP, which is only £20 more new than the MXR, if I do swap from my Boss SY-200, but certainly bass-mates of mine who have upgraded their their C4 to the MXR are really happy with the change over!
  7. Bed Spring Boogie — Clarence Brewer
  8. No, I've never done it and I've never even thought about doing it until you mentioned it the now. Nope, still not doing it. I don't see what value it brings - the UK plug is already over engineered to the nth degree (which is why it's the best plug design on the planet - fight me). Reason why not? Apart from it being completely unnecessary, it would make replacing a worn cable a bigger job than it needs to be.
  9. Bet the number starts with a 2 not a 1
  10. My friends 14yr old daughter is learning bass (her mates all play guitar so I’m quite proud of her for taking the bass path…) Weve sorted a Squier Bronco bass from BC for her. Any recommendations on decent small practice amps, sort of 30-50watt I’m guessing for playing at home with her mates? Anything too big and heavy will be a nightmare to transport. I know Blackstar are good for guitar stuff, but the Roland Bass Cube range seems to have become just one very small amp. Any suggestions ?

    Hello

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Let me know how you like the oud group!
  12. Be interesting to see if the loose lacquer can be removed and then a new thin coat applied to protect the graphic. Given the overall condition id want to check that its structurally ok in other areas before deciding whether its practical to restore as a working bass. Good luck tho. It’s a cool bass
  13. Let's not open this old can of worms (argh go on then...)
  14. I was wondering when the video would be up! How the hell does it not have neck dive?!
  15. I played a Fender Custom Shop one some years ago. It looked amazing and I really wanted to love it (I’m a P bass fanboy). But no it was very different from the 57-onwards style. Not for me at all. Bummer. That one does look beautiful tho.

    Hello

That's very nice indeed! Listening to the oud album on Bandcamp now.
  17. I’ve never really liked that earlier style P bass , i much prefer the last year 57- 58 onwards, but I’ve never played one, maybe if I did It might change my mind
  18. Today
  19. Potential Walnut control plate finished for @HeadlessBassist walnut jazz bass build. Just waiting for his graphite neck to land and the assembly will begin!!
  20. Sleeping Satellite - Tasmin Archer
  21. I had a '56 (or was it a '55). Nice bass, was it £17,500 nicer than an MIJ '55 RI.........? Answers on a postcard
  22. If you've paid for a year's subscription, you can place the ad in several topics with no problem. If you paid only for a 'one-off' ad, it can only go in one topic at a time. One of the many benefits of having an 'open' subscription. You could, I suppose, raise a 'Report', to ask the Mod team for indulgence, if there's no subscription. Might be worth a shot..? Hope this helps.
  23. It's a vintage bass off! Maybe Sting will buy it and it'll never be advertised for sale.
  24. Yep that was me! Whilst my Wilcock bass isn’t actually short scale (it’s 32” as @ezbassmentioned) it does get you in the ballpark and plays/sounds very much like a short scale bass. Plus being medium scale it’s very easy to switch between that and my regular 34” basses. I actually bought it last year from a fellow Basschatter specifically to play on a few tracks for the latest DC album and it ended up on every track. It’s since become the number 1 bass on the UK tour and will be going all round Europe with us in the spring. It really is a joy to play and is incredibly responsive under the fingers. Previously I had a JMJ Mustang that filled the shorty role but it was nowhere near as versatile as the Wilcock. And it sounds awesome with a pick. Does the clicky palm-mute thing better than anything else I’ve played.
