Funny story about that. That came about because back when I originally put this bass together, I was test fitting the tuners, got distracted then lifted the bass up. All the tuners came flying out of the holes and one of them dinged the back of the body near the cavity. So I turned the ding into a lifting hole. When life gives you lemons and all that...

Just a fun anecdote from last night. Valerie came on the jukebox and a bit later as we were setting up the rhythm guitarist started playing it very quietly. The started singing it and I started singing the bass riff scat style then the others started singing and we even harmonised some bits. We impressed ourselves but sadly the pub was still virtually empty! If only our proper BVs were that good 🤣🤣

Were not some of the ‘80’s Squier Ps 32”scale? -
It is a modified/personalized clone/upgrade of CoT-50 tweaked for bass. It's a booster and overdrive that saturates the sound and adds low to medium dirt to it. The level of overdrive is input-sensitive. The pots are Level and Sizzle (reversed bias for Boost mode). The toggle switches the LED color and toggles between no Boost (smaller lighting, blue LED) and Boost (bigger lightning, red LED); the rotary switch selects clipping between no added clipping (I), extra Schottky diode (II) or extra symmetrical pair of Schottky diodes (III). I is most low end and volume, least grit, III is the least low end and volume, but most grit, and II is somewhere in between. This thing does wonders with the rest of the pedals, adding more "scene" to the sound of other dirt pedals, also pushing them to more oomph, or, if they are properly dialed, gated and nasal tones. On its own it's also really cool, with warm, bluesey drive.

Good shout, thanks -- pretty sure I have a rev B, but tried with a TRS Y cable and the behaviour seems the same. So leaning back towards something inside the pedal is not quite right? -

My experience is that people overplay through boredom. Playing the same set every weekend for years on end drains you. But, i find that overplaying on bass or drums can work as long as the players are topnotch. Aslong as the groove and bottom end are still there then really it doesnt matter a great deal. Guitarists that get bored and widdle over everything really destroys the dynamics of the tune, so they get my vote. The pricks.

It's loaded on top of a passive DI box, only a cheapo Gear4Music one. I do pack a 9v supply usually but in this instance I just had my laptop charger to hand so was using that instead. -

I also have an SQ and it's a phenomenal bass. Previous owner 'JV'd' it, with reverse tuners and a older style bbot. -
I'm really swithering over getting this or the valeton gp-5. I'm the same, i need pretty much eactly what you're using this for. My HXstomp is briliant and not exactly bulky but a tonex would pretty much make it a softcase load in which id love. What is the thing the tonex is mounted on. Also, is it powered by the usb cable and is that how you use it live?

What does ''Prod'' do on Your board ?

I was at a jam, a few years ago, and a trio got up to play three U2 songs. The bassist proceeded to play slap bass over all three of them. It would have been hilarious if it wasn't so tragic.....

Got this in a trade on here recently but it’s just not got much use. Between the green Russian and the grey stache that I own I have my fuzz needs covered. This one is two big muffs running in parallel, one of them has a standard tone control, the other has a mid boost/cut. Certainly a lot to play with and a lot of sounds to be gotten out of it! No original box with this but will be packaged securely. Price will include postage in the UK

This sounds pretty funky! Do you happen to have a schematic for the circuit? I'd like to breadboard this one out. -
Rare outing as a 4-piece last night, as one of our guitarists is taking some time away to savour the constant wailing of his new baby. We were supporting another local band's album launch and a decent number of people turned up, which is always nice. Very warm on stage, and as the headliners got rain-soaked during load-in the whole venue was at rainforest-level humidity. Still, I thought we played well and there were some nice comments from random people afterwards. First time out with my latest stage bass (a white RB Streamer 5 LX to match the black one I already had) and I'm really pleased with it - it looks/feels/sounds just right. Thickened up the bass tone a little with just a hint of octave-up to suggest more guitar than we actually had, and from what I could tell it seemed to work acceptably. For the tech-inclined: RB Streamer 5 LX -> G30 Wireless -> TU-3 Tuner -> Thumpinator HPF -> BC-1X Comp -> VT Bass v2 OD -> Sub-n-Up Oct -> BDDI v2 Pre (-> FoH) -> Markbass Nano 2 -> Blackstar 115
