  2. Harp players never know when to stop blowing. Guitarists never have control of their volume. Neither do drummers. Drummer are always putting in fills that don't fit. Keyboard players don't understand that 2 bass lines don't work. . . . in any song. . . . ever!! Last week, I saw a quote from an engineer; "The best engineers have the simplest solutions". You could say the same about musicians, and definitely about bass players. The simplest lines are always the best. The spaces say more about your ability than the notes. Overplaying is a curse and the only way to fix it is to play with guys who don't.

  5. Will has been an absolute pleasure to deal with. Clear communication, knows his gear and did a great packaging job on the amp. I’m always nervous about couriers handling amps (or anything!) but no worries at all this time. Thanks again 😎
  6. So here's a game I play roughly once a year. I list a whole bunch of gear for sale (really not wanting to sell any of it you understand) and once a few things have actually sold 😩 I let the remaining listings slide down below the radar. Until the next time. I'm not selling because I'm desperate for the money, and if I was John Entwistle then I'd just keep the lot and have an ever-expanding collection, but the reality is that over half my gear gets used very little, if at all. Common sense says that at least some of this lovely kit should get back out in circulation. I have no interest at all in trades. Replacing an amp or cab that doesn't get used with a different amp or cab that won't get used seems like a complete waste of time and effort. On the other hand, much of my kit is pretty non-standard or left-field and therefore hard to price, so I'm not absolutely wedded to the figure stated. I'm in Harrow HA1, close to Sudbury Hill on the Piccadilly Line, and I gig regularly throughout Beds, Bucks, Herts & Middx, with occasional forays into Surrey. Pickup in person is always preferable to despatch (from home, or a mutually-convenient pub, or at one one of my gigs), but I've had nothing but good experiences with DPD so if you live more than - say - 50 miles from Harrow then that's an option. Here's the original blurb from 10 years ago: The aluminum specialists at Alusonic are getting into the bass cabinet world with the ALU112. Housed in an aircraft grade aluminum hardshell, the cab is loaded with a 12-inch aluminum cast frame woofer with a neodymium magnet. The ALU112 has an 8 ohm impedence with a nominal power handling of 400 watts RMS and continuous power handling of 600 watts RMS. The cab, which weighs in around 20 pounds, has rear bass ports and a top-mounted, recessed handle. It can be ordered with or without a one-inch compression driver, which would also add a 2.5kHz custom crossover with a variable tweeter control on the back panel. Other features include a frequency range of 32 hertz to 18 kilohertz, input and link Neutrik Speakon connections, and an epoxy-polyester finish. The Alusonic ALU112 is built in Italy. The price list for the standard version is approximately $869 while the cabinet with a tweeter goes for $995. This one has been daaaaaahn the lockup for a few months. Time to move on.

  7. It's very shiny!
  8. Luxury! Why, when I were a lad ...
  9. Very decent piece of rack gear, equally suitable for studio or live use (I've used it both ways). The two multi-way cable clips on top are there by self-adhesive stuff and will remove. I found them useful enough to choose to leave them there for the new owner. The original box is present, as seen in the photos, but not the polystyrene inserts. I'll use bubble wrap for postage. 10. Very little used since Covid, time to move it on. Comes with all the little bits of cabling etc. Condition is as near pristine as you're likely to find. Full specs are here: https://philjonesbass.net/cms/product-ha-1/

This listing is for: https://www.gak.co.uk/en/tech-21-sansamp-rbi-bass-driver Currently racked with a Powersoft Digam LQ2804 which is also listed for sale. If someone buys both, then obviously I'll chuck in the Gator 2U Shallow case as a freebie. All tested this morning and working perfectly. Extraordinarily, it even comes with the original packaging. Collection from Harrow HA1 or possibly the West End would be easiest and safest, but £15 P&P will get it to anywhere in Mainland UK.

  12. My eye (yes, I have two. Don't worry...) was caught by the cool looking lever at the top of the bridge - does this amazingly manly bass have a lever that deploys the string mutes? Bet MusicMan wish they'd thought of that before adding those fiddly tiny metal round screws under the bridges of Classic Stingrays. Seriously impressed by the intonation calibration markings on the bridge as well. If Bang & Olufsen made basses, they would make basses like this.
  13. That's works with me, I'll send you a PM with the details.
  14. We had a guy who used to come to jam nights and pub band gigs here, harmonica player (using the term loosely) who always wanted to get up on stage for a guest spot. Played the same 3 cheesy blues licks on repeat regardless of the song, pretty sure he thought he was some sort of local celebrity. Sounded awful every time.

  16. Count me in - although would prefer to avoid rememberance Sunday if possible... Will there be a gear list in due course?
  17. Also happy to help if you're anywhere near Newcastle.
  18. ...if their are ladies in the band have a discussion about what to wear (or at least what colour shirt!)... I know it's a stereotype but I've never had that discussion forced on me by male band members!
  19. No one else has admitted to owning a set, so we're counting on you to give us your impressions of them Kevin.
  20. Welcome and embrace the many boisterous allures from audience members struck by your sudden celebrity status. As always, preparation is the key. Put a security lock on your phone, don't take your wallet, just keys, cash and condoms, cigs and lighter if needed.

  22. You only need half of those If you got rid of everything fret wise above the octave and every part of a fret on the two treble strings, you could make it a hybrid fretted/fretless and do all the pointless noodling on the bits real bass players don’t use 👍 #joking
  23. Today
  24. "Deer pants" has a nice descending bass line - I always used to play the octave line from Bach's Air on a G string underneath it.
