...if their are ladies in the band have a discussion about what to wear (or at least what colour shirt!)... I know it's a stereotype but I've never had that discussion forced on me by male band members!

Ernie Ball Pino Palladino flatwounds - £90 a set

No one else has admitted to owning a set, so we're counting on you to give us your impressions of them Kevin. -
Welcome and embrace the many boisterous allures from audience members struck by your sudden celebrity status. As always, preparation is the key. Put a security lock on your phone, don't take your wallet, just keys, cash and condoms, cigs and lighter if needed.

"Deer pants" has a nice descending bass line - I always used to play the octave line from Bach's Air on a G string underneath it.
-
Honestly- hide all your 4s for a month and only play the 5, do all your scales, force yourself to do them on different positions on the neck, practice and no safety net and it will suddenly click

Wicked little analogue drum machine. Built in drive circuits gets you that nasty Nine Inch Nails drum sound with ease, but works for most styles. Very good sequencer for building out tracks. Excellent condition, boxed, with power supply etc. Asking £170 + £5 postage. Collection in Derby is welcomed.

Amazing synth unit design for ambient textures and soundscapes. Can be battery powered and even has a built in speaker for impromptu jamming. Excellent condition, full working order. No box or manual (manual available on the Sonicware website), but power supply included (which doesn’t come as standard). Asking £165 + £5 postage. Collection in Derby is welcomed.

In my time I’ve owned and gigged an Ampeg SVT-CL ( very nice ) Ampeg V4 ( very nice ) Ashdown CTM 100 ( nice but odd EQ ) My last gigging amp ( same rock kind of bands ) were Eich T900 and it was as good sounding and a lot more practical of course. In the band mix I didn’t really hear enough difference to warrant a valve amp but they feel different to play for sure especially when cranked a bit. Other issue is selling them later as it’s a limited market and heavy as hell for shipping !

Take spares of anything you need to get through a gig. For me that's bass, 1/4" cable, xlr cable, tuner, di box. For you it might be a different list. Mark your stuff somehow. I put a blue cable tie around everything I own. It doesn't stop someone walking away with it, but it means I can categorically say "that's mine, give it back". Do a technical rehearsal before hand. What's a technical rehearsal? A practice gig. Rent a large space like a village hall or a social club, take all your gear and play a whole fake gig. Fake setup, facing a fake audience, fake soundcheck, play a fake set as if there was an audience. A normal rehearsal is for solving problems like "what key should we play this song in?" or "how long should we make the middle 8 break?". A technical rehearsal is for solving problems like "I have used my gear rather than the stuff in the rehearsal studio, I have just realised I don't have the right cable to plug x into y" or "if I stand here, where I thought was sensible, it turns out I can't see Z, I need to remember to stand closer". And most commonly: "we thought we had enough songs for 45 minutes, turns out they only last for 30".

I think into a 4ohm cab they sound incredible and loud enough for a loud band, A word of warning as being so light they can easily move on top of a cab. Put a rubber mat down on top of cab to save pulling it off or amp walk

Thanks for that - used the five string for three (out of five) songs during a pre-Sunday practice last night and was getting the hang of it by following the tip of always hitting the E on the fifth fret. Just going to bring the five string and the fretless on Sunday morning which will hopefully stop me chickening out this week!

Drums, e.g. overdoing double kickdrumming actually ruins the sense of groove.
