On the ones I've made (BC 112, BC 6" micro, my own Plenty), I've rounded the outer edge with about 12mm radius and left the inner edge as is. Maximum use of space. Though now I look at a picture I see wonkiness, and I need a right angled Jack adapter to access the non xlr output of the microbass. Gigrig on the underside for power. Tuner is always on so that the guitarist can see what note I’m playing :).

If you'd seen my efforts at soldering, you wouldn't be asking me for advice 😉 Removing the wires should be a case of pulling gently on them while applying the iron to the solder pad - as soon as the solder melts, they should come free. If they're not loose after a couple of seconds, remove the iron to avoid overheating, and re-think. You may need more power or a larger tip. Although I love the MPC Key 37 I am going to put it up for sale as it doesn't quite fit with the things I need (home piano, stage piano, large midi keyboard for production). I am hoping I'm able to keep all of the licensed software though as I think there are some great sounds, I'm pretty sure that's fine as it is linked to my inMusic account rather than hardware and I already also have it all on the Laptop and you get 3x licenses. My plan is to get some sort of 73 key stage piano (f or live stuff. I've tried the Laptop + midi keyboard for live stuff before and it was a liability so I'm not going to do that again) and an 88 weighted key home piano (with speakers, simple, tough - to stay in the front room for the kids to learn on). And for home production the stage piano should work fine as a midi interface to still play the MPC plugin instruments via a Laptop. I've found that I actually usually have the Laptop hooked up to the MPC for production stuff as I prefer to do a lot of things like sample edits and Library management and sequencing via Laptop. I will definitely miss some of the MPC interface but it'll pay for the home piano and partly towards the stage piano.
