  2. That’s a very good point. The abm evo has a warm woolly tone but is articulate. They are extremely different. I can definitely see this amp would help in a band situation. Need more time to play with it. What did you move on to after the Magellan?
  3. Howdy Been using flats for years. Now doing an Echo and the Bunnymen tribute, Echoes of the Bunnymen- and the flats were ok for the early songs, but Les Pattinson has a very trebly sound later on. So bought some Elites ground wound - please note I do NOT want to use round wounds - can’t go back- the Elites are giving me nice twang and sustain, but sticky (hoping this is coating that’ll fade) Want to get some for the other bass - what do you think are brightest but smoothest? Ian Allison, GHS … your esteemed thoughts appreciated - also need medium to higher tension as Les plays a fair bit of very fast picking.
  4. Thanks, much appreciated.
  5. Back on the market, buyer failed to sale his instrument to get this one. Very near offers welcome :)))
  6. The Bass Galley getting involved in politics? Can’t find anything on that link about basses.
  7. I can’t believe we’ve gotten this far into the thread without any mention (@chris_b excepted) of the most obvious candidate, bass.
  8. I recall I used the contour control to make it less modern sounding. The thing is compared to the ABM600 which has a very warm slightly woolly tone anything else seems too bright at times ! The clarity you are now hearing helps a lot in a band situation

  14. Anyone want to trade for a Trace Elliot Transit B pedal?
  15. The ebay pics have a DH Gate watermark, so either "Crazy Guitar World" is affiliated with them, or someone stole the pics that DH Gate stole. Don't be crazy, don't shop there!
  16. Looking Out My Back Door - CCR
  17. Mate I was amazed how articulate my bass was. I put in a @KiOgon loom kit in and some Bart’s. Ive still the original pickups and some roundwounds so I’ll be interested to see how the sound changes. How did you go about achieving more warmth? I notice the treble doesn’t help much with my pbass with flats. It adds or takes away clank noise.
  18. No opens on mine OK. Screenshots for anyone who can't....

  21. This won't stay here long. Love mine!
  22. Another one someone asked for, Mel Schacher's bass part for 'Footstompin' Music' by Grand Funk Railroad from the 1971 album, 'E Pluribus Funk'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/footstompin-music-grand-funk-railroad/
  23. It's increasingly obvious to me that I am entering my second childhood. This is a Kasim Sulton performance of the tune 'E.T.I. (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)' which I took from a live Blue Öyster Cult video on YouTube. This track takes me back to listening to the band's live album, 'Some Enchanted Evening' when I was a kid. I always loved the harmonies on this track and the verse riff is sick. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/e-t-i-blue-oyster-cult/

  26. Has to be keyboards. They have enormous harmonic range and can play up to ten notes simultaneously (more if the keys player uses a foot...). Fine if you're playing a solo piece. You can have a bass part, chordal accompaniment and melody all at once. In a band context, it can be a nightmare. We've been having this discussion with our keys player recently. He's good, but not very experienced. A a result, he tends to fill too much space, clashing with the other instruments. We're educating him slowly.
