  2. I was thinking of DIY building something along these lines for myself. I have an acoustic that I have to detune the strings to access the battery. I have a trs cable and a multimeter to check it, but it's less than optimal! If it works out ok I will post on here.
  3. Thanks for this. I've got some router bits with a decent curve 6mm and 12mm from memory. I've also got my identically sized spray booth to practise on so I'll see which size works best. I'll probably round the plywood, put the Armacab on and then design new 3d printed corners to fit. Redesign should be relatively easy. The only area I'm slightly puzzling over is the front as it's just 12mm of ply sticking out. Will look at what other people have done here.

  5. Last week’s gig for my band was in an almost square room with the stage in the corner. It really was the easiest sound check we have ever had. The sound out front seemed well balanced everywhere and especially on stage, despite us using the passive mains and monitors. As some will know, I have a shiny new system waiting in the wings but my shoulder injury means I cannot lift the Subs until the New Year. I wonder whether the positioning of the stage has as much to do with the sound as anything else. With the corner stage, the wall reflections are quite different to a central stage in a square/rectangle. Of course these corner stage setups are not the norm but as this was the first time at this venue for us, I am hopeful we can return next year. The nice touch was that we were paid more than the agreed fee .
  6. Unfortunately we weren't able to play last night as our synth player had picked up some lurgy from his kids and was too ill to play. A pity not only because the gig was sold out, but because we'd spent the last few weeks learning how to play our "Christmas Song" as a band. The recorded version had been assembled in the studio, and I think that before we started practicing in order to play it live I'd never played the Bass VI part all the way through in one go. Still the other four bands played and Social Youth Cult who headlined were enough of a draw to have sold most of the tickets, so I don't think we let too many people down. It appears from our social media comments over the last few weeks, that most of the people who wanted to come and see us play had left it too late to buy tickets anyway. Unless something really good comes in at the last minute, we don't have any more gigs until 2026 now. December Snow will have to wait until this time next year.
  7. Hi Tony, I would say the tension is very similar to TIs and they are super smooth! David

  11. Woods dont need years to dry out, they are kiln dried.Hardwoods tend to take a lot longer because of the density of the timber in question, all hard woods are different as well.By Kiln drying Timber it refers to the concentration of RESIN within the wood the denser the wood the longer it has to spend in the kiln in what we called to "Dry" the Timber. We do this by weighing the Wood then in the kiln which opperate by steam and fans and periodically test the timber with moisture meters and again weighing the Timber til it reaches a certain point of dryness.A couple of examples Mohagany takes longer usualy to dry than Hard Maple as its a more denser timber. Bottom line is ?"How do i know this about timber",well i worked in the Timber industry for 25 years manufacturing hardwood and softwood flush firedoors. Roasted maple takes on average a month to dry the resin tops.
  12. Courier is an option for the head. Tradewise I'm always interested in Fenders of one sort or another 👍
  13. This must go. Sensible offers accepted!
  14. That idea has crossed my mind too. I love my Tecamp Bass Board - I only use it at home but paired with my headphone rig and my backbeat, playing is a physical pleasure which is just so immersive. So much so that I’ve tried similar devices for music and films in the lounge (in the office I pump my music through the bass board as well as my Hifi which adds great depth). I tried a Woojer strap which just felt a bit muddled with the signal and didn't seem to behave very quickly, maybe I need to play with it more.
  15. Hi everyone, new member here and excited to join the community. I’ve got a big love for bass guitars, playing, learning, and talking all things low end. Looking forward to connecting with fellow bass players, picking up knowledge, and sharing the journey with you all. Cheers!
  16. Next track from Il Basso has been released, with a rather curious video:
  17. Hi all, Unfortunately, an unexpected bill has come in, which means that this excellent Fuzz/Filter from CMC Audio (who make the Proto Type overdrive) has to go. I bought it a little while ago, and honestly, while it’s excellent, it’s also the most valuable of the many fuzzes I have, so needs-must. More info from CMC here: https://cmcaudio.odoo.com/shop/bi-filter-fuzz-33 I made a video of one particular sound I liked below, but there’s more videos on their Instagram and on YouTube which shows it doing straight Fuzz tones, as well as synthy, envelope filter tones too. You can attach an expression pedal, and a holding down the footswitch means it works as a momentary switch (until you take your foot off of course), a short press and release obviously still allows a latching function. No box, but it’s as-new other than Velcro on bottom and will be packed very securely. £185 inc UK postage I’m open to part-ex’s (what u got?), but need at least £100 cash. These are circa £230 new + plus delivery from Belgium + VAT. BFF.mov Cheers Si

  18. That's probably my biggest concern. I really like the VT with the band and I know it compresses things, so I'm wondering if it's worth using a compressor. So then maybe something clean and transparent is the way to go, so it just looks at dynamics? Or does the VT inherently also help control dynamics?
  19. Down In A Hole - Alice In Chains
  20. For pure self indulgence I have quite fancied a 10 stringer when I was playing in a folk band, but now would have no musical opportunity to use one. Having looked at a few 8 stringers on line some have the octave strings above and some below the main strings and i wonder what is the benefit of each? My simplistic guess would be fingerstyle would be below and pick playing above.
