  2. Where are my eyes when I need them... Thank you @AinsleyWalker!
  3. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  4. Funny enough, I grabbed the Oxford Inflator and Oxford Limiter today over at Plugin Boutique in their (ongoing) sale. With my virtual cash I had available, I paid just over £30 for both. GainStage Pro was thrown in for free, but I'm not sure if it's any good. I will give it a spin though.
  5. I got it at GAK March 2024 as an early birthday present - I sorted it out through one of the staff there Ryan who I had a few email conversations with about it. My local luthier set it up for me with the new strings and the old ones are included. I assume it was made in late 23 or 24 as it’s a recent addition to the Hofner range. I’ve enclosed pictures of the booklet which has the matching serial number to the inside label - you can even see the name of the craftsman handwritten on the label. Hofner really know how to make something special. I’m sure Hofner would be able to find the exact date for you if needed.
  6. If you listen to that isolated track, there's some fills around the 3-minute mark that definitely mark the bass out as a fretless. It's not super-mwah-y, but the smooth slides give it away. Skip ahead to about 3:20, the end of that chorus has a few bits of slightly dodgy intonation! It's definitely a Stingray too - that sound is extremely distinctive. And, to my ears, the tone sounds like it's coming from a studio valve compressor - an old Neve or Drawmer or something like that (probably a Neve, Drawmer were never particularly popular in the US). Flea did quite a few guest appearances back around that time, and apparently he rarely used an amp - another track with a very similar sound was Freeway from Porno For Pyros' second album (which also featured Navarro).
  7. I have a Roland arriving next week, and I plan to use it for band demos as well so hopefully the extras will be useful.
  8. I know nothing about metal but am genuinely curious as to how a bass is designed for the genre? I have two Warwicks for reference. I guess I'm of the opinion that any bass can be used for any genre. I'm liking your Taranis btw especially with the bridge coil splitting options.
  9. I bought the 51P from Andy, super smooth transanction as before, Cheers Andy....
  10. For the third year in a row we had a Church Weekend Away at a local Guide & Scout centre. The weather was excellent and so was the food! Friday night BBQ followed by a Ceilidh. Saturday morning there was a service and Bible talk with refreshments in the middle! Saturday afternoon fun and games such as Badminton and Frisbee Golf (so much better than real golf) and more great food. It was back to church for Sunday morning before returning to the centre for a picnic and more games. It was a great way to meet and get to know new members with over 150 people attending. I was playing bass in the band and the singing was brilliant. I can recommend such an event to build church relationships.
  11. I wish I were in a position to snag a Luminlay 22 fret version. WOH!
  12. I'm looking into shipping options for sending a bass to Belgium. Has anyone recently posted a bass into Europe and if so, who did you use and did everything go according to plan? Thanks in advance.
  13. I use Claro in conjunction with Smart-EQ4 (Sonible) either for quick and dirty mixes or for being a second set of ears when I need a different perspective. Smart-EQ is great as it listens to other selected tracks (busses for example) and you can decide what needs to sit forward or back in the mix. Clever stuff. I've dropped Arc 4 in to Listen Hub along with corrective EQ, great for just enjoying music in general but, yes, I'm new to this app, but loving it! I had trial versions of Ground Control, Caster and Room by Ginger Audio trying to make them do what Listen Hib does, so, I'm pretty pelased with my silly cheap snag!
  14. Yes I understand that the new version does come with a certificate. I contacted Thomann about this. Therefore yours must be a few years old. Did you buy the bass through Thomann and how old is it as you don't say in your advert?
  15. Yes, see the switch on the right - the boost setting is for bringing guitar signals up to line level, or turn off if your source is already line level. There are demoes of people using this with synths etc.
  16. Its actually an Overwater J4 Contemporary that they put together from spares they had when taking samples to Tanglewood. They only made a few of these so no serial numbers etc. Its a decent bass but i was finding it a bit heavy in the 2nd set and moved to my trusty VM4 for last 5 or 6 songs. Part of the problem was i hadn't gigged for 4 weeks so my back was feeling it. It sounded ok but i really need more time to get the best out of it. I had dropped the string height at the nut and raised the neck pick up by 5mm but still hadn't adjusted the bridge pick up to balance it so it was a bit bass heavy and lacked a bit of mid drive. I'll get that sorted this week and might give it another go. I like the look of it in the pics. The other thing was it was a lot hotter than my Sandberg and i had to tweak amp volume a bit at change over. I believe there are gain pots in the control cavity that would drop the gains from the pick ups more in line with my Sandberg. I think its Kent Armstrong pick ups and pre-amp. Dave

  18. PRICE IS IN EUROS: €4000. Hello, For sale is my made in Canada Dingwall Super P. Fantastic bass, all setup. I will post a picture with proof of ownership on Sunday, when I get home. I accept trades only for 4 string Fender Precison Custom Shop, single coil or split coil. Sale and trade only for European Union or Switzerland. Price is firm and in Euros. Thank you.
  19. After years of everyone taking issue with Waves business practice of always running sales, nearly every plugin maker is going the same route and/moving to a subscription model. Claro is really good. It lacks a couple of key features for me (being able to raise/lower the overall volume post EQ, dynamic EQ) but for 20 quid it is marvellous. I use Listen Hub a lot. It really helps to bring into context how crap my rough mixes are!
  20. Make the internal volume and port area and length the same as the original box. Wire the drivers series/parallel, use whatever type jack is on your other cab.
  21. It never even crossed my mind it was a fretless all those years ago in the mid 90s when I first learnt it. Always loved the bubbling, parpy, slurred tone. The scales fell from my eyes when I heard the isolated track and someone pointed out it was a fretless. Blindingly obvious now! All those bits I though were string bends…
  22. I might mention that this is a very good travel bass: full scale, and still so tiny.
  23. I bagged Claro and Listen Hub for silly pennies the other day after snagging IK's Arc 4 for £25. I have a reference mic already so this has been a super nice upgrade to my studio along with some ridiculous deals that have been appearing on https://audioplugin.deals such as Sonible's smart plugin series. Deals! Everywhere!
  24. What's the blueburst bass dude??
  25. The head on my Markbass MB58R combo already has a lid on it upon removal. These little things make me happy 😊
